HISC VS BSE STABLE WAR

Before: Britney shoe-horned into this match up free up negotiations for CZJ/Warren, but Spears relishing the challenge of crafty Claire. “You don’t see boxers like Danes at bantamweight,” says Spears, “she’s slick, she’s hardhearted, she’s smart—I know I’ve got to be at my best to stay on top of her. Ultimately, I’m too strong and I think we’ll see Danes break down in the later stages, but I’m looking forward to taking her there for sure.” Danes at the peak of her powers following a narrow point loss to Lucy Liu, oozing confidence at every photo op: “It’s going to be a long night for Britney. I’m going to pick away at her, frustrate her spirit, and take advantage of her mistakes.” Plenty of crosscurrents occupy handicappers—Spears making 110 for the first time in her career—how will that effect her? BSE and HISV petitioning and rejecting referees for this fight—Britney’s taste for kidney and Claire’s elbowing uppermost on the minds of both camps. Danes moving up despite the catchweight, but she’s got excellent reference from Eliza Dushku—despite animosity, HISC girls rumoured to be focusing on the common enemy until the threat has been dealt with.
Claire in black string bikini, white shoes and socks, Britney in pink tankini, white shoes and socks.
During R1: Oh that crafty Claire. Danes jumps off a leisurely jab, squares up and fgoes after Britney’s breadbasket with pumping lefts and rights, Claire looks like something out of 1920s newsreel, weight forward, slender arms driving back and forth—she’s got Spears shocked, backing up and taking early. Midway through, Britney with a series of clever turns and sidesteps gets Danes off her and lands a drifting right on the jaw as the girls fall in—unhinging Danes at the knees, Britney bumping her left shoulder against Claire’s open mouth, steps in and DIGS to that midriff, crumpling Danes to the ropes and it’s all Britney for a moment as Spears unleashes biting hooks and crosses to her dazed opponent. Down the stretch, Danes reverting to form, getting back to midring, wheeling around and dragging that front foot, patting Brit down with jabs and restoring some order to a chaotic first at the bell. Spears takes it with the more harmful punching—Danes gambling, nearly pays the ultimate price.
R2,3: Danes in that Spadafora mode, putting that front foot in a bucket, pivoting left around pesky, chiseling jabs, surprising straight right hands and a whippy, sharp left hook that’s finding space under Britney’s protective elbows, Spars looking to leap in with power, but missing over the top or skidding along Claire’s shoulders and guard. By the end of the third, Britney’s tightened up considerably, just trying to touch Danes with little pokes from either hand—Claire’s made it her fight in the center of the ring, nickeling and diming the stronger woman.
R4: Danes with a nice stabbing lead right startles Britney early—Claire jumps back into the time machine, loading up that 1920s body assaulot and SPEARS IS HURT! Britney taken by surprise, hunching forward and taking pumping punches to the thick of her midriff—she’s frozen as Danes piles up the punishment, Claire punching herself out and bodying up to recuperate—Spears open mouthed, frowning as she collects herself as well. rest of the round—Danes goes back to the busy, pesky, will o’the wisp routine—Spars shining up nice around her eyes, throbbing in the body and looking sluggish as she follows Danes around the ring.
R5: Claire bending at the waist in front of Britney, goes defensive a little too long and Spears takes advantage. Britney putting punches together for the first time in the fight, missing over the top but finally clipping temple with an innocent left hook—Claire’s back legs give a tremor and she falls forward to clinch. Britney stepping back in good order, dips and walks Danes into a heartbreaking left uppercut to the solar plexus—Claire sobbing aloud, she’s cratering forward as Spears falls off to the side to pour it on! Fight reels to the topes—Britney landing punches as she hops forward—Danes seated, leaning forward—Spears helps herself to lower back with bashing leather at the bell. Claire stiff, arching her back, complains bitterly to an uncaring ref as Spears struts away with points.
R6: Danes still hurting—Britney jumps on her like a pro. Spears jabbing her girl hard in the shoulder and breasts, getting Danes defensive, driving her to the cones, then sailing in with wide right hands to the hip and back, tight doubled up hooks in the ribs, then free-for-all swings to the face as Claire leans back groggy with wear. Danes clinching, using all her tricks at the ropes—but Spears responding to instructions keeps throwing her combinations, not caring if she lands, just swarming the defence with activity. Danes hurt midway through when she avoids the right but catches a hook on the chin, then shaken late as Spears thumps left/right to the waist line, then turns into a tight right hand, sitting Claire stunned into the ropes at the bell.
R7: Claire working in and out, has Britney covering up from lashing lefts and rights—Spears off the block, waiting for her turn as Danes gets off, gets out. End of the first minute, Danes steps in close, rips her hook across Britney’s golden gut, pivots left s if to regroup, then jumps back into catch Spears opening up, Danes with that galloping, pumping assault to the midsection, surprising Spears once again and SPEARS GOES DOWN! Sputtering, reluctant knee taken, but Spears steps away and drops, shaking from the sudden stormburst against her body and trunks. Britney up at 8, but she’s not right—Danes climbs aboard like a big woman! Claire pulling hooks into Britney’s chin, leaning on the bigger girl, getting Spears babystepping backward and constantly flurrying to the belly and below as Britney goes glum with punishment. Spears’ butt in the ropes, hunching forward with arms crossed—Danes pushing up then, lashing away with leverage, getting into Britney’s sides, straightening up to clip the overhanging face with biting left uppercuts, and drifting a little low on occasion with borderline hooks underneath. At the bell, Danes chesting up and forcing eye contact—Britney choking back tears, refusing to give Danes the satisfaction.
R8: Claire Danes goes to work on Britney Spears, Flickering, pesky jabs set up stamping rights, biting hooks—Britney’s face polishing up badly as she starts to get clipped clean, taking too many punches now. Danes with a plunging, driving first step, puts a straight right hand into the solar plexus, then bodies up, walking Britney back as the bigger girl shudders, tries to soak up the body work. Danes able to clinch, turn, get free and work—Britney sluggish, laying in with Claire, and getting outworked. Spears put wobbly butt on several; occasions, but Danes starting to punch herself out late—she’s getting every inch of lean leverage behind some shits, but she just can’t get the bantamweight girl outta there. Spears with exhausted pleadings to the ref about Claire’s wandering low left hand—he’s just ushering Brit to her stool.
R9: Danes miscalculating—she’s mouth breathing, labouring this round, and Britney gets it together. Spears shaking off damage, coming forward and catching Danes with shots that missed in the first half. Brit able to get the jump in lead hook to the ear, following up with straight rights and lefts as Claire staggers backward. Spears back to beating Claire in the waist, has her girl hunched forward and doesn’t hesitate to scorch the lumbar region in reparation for uncalled low blows during the Danes dominance. This is hard stuff for Britney—she’s hurting her girl and not letting up, getting big in Claire at the ropes and just bashing away on the arms and torso with clubbing strokes to the bell.
R10: Claire defensive—clearly choosing to go to the cards rather than risk further trade with Spears, Britney getting stronger as the fight progresses—she’s cutting off ther ring better now than in the early rounds, and she’s letting her hands go, beating Danes’ shoulders and sides as the blonde blocks and rolls, Claire drawing boos in the final moments as she blatantly runs—Spears obviously frustrated but unable to bring decisive force to bear. Close, one point duke, comes back for the winner—CLAIRE DANES!
After: Spears hazy with shock—Danes momentarily stunned then pumping her fists in exultation—it’s an upset. Knockdown the difference—fight even in rounds, but legal protests already filed as BSE lawyers contend that the 6th should have been 10-8 Britney—on and on. Danes doing it with typical tactical flair—surprising Britney with a throwback body attack one moment, then that pesky swivel and swat, then sharp flurries upstairs—all calculated to keep the bigger girl off balance and suck tome off the clock. “I’m a good body puncher and I hurt Britney in the body,” says a triumphant Claire in post fight, “she had trained to think of herself as the aggressor for this fight, but when I took that away from her, she was this lost little girl in there. She got outboxed of course, but then when I started beating her up, you could see the confusion over there—nobody knew what to do,” Britney punished, puffy-faced, sober in her comments, “I’m not going to make any excuses—Claire just did what she does and she got that decision. We’re appealing the low blows and the scoring, but I give her credit for pulling this off. She’s very difficult to hit clean—I felt like, when I DID cap her, she was rocked, but I just couldn’t get her often enough.”
