Before: Tension between friends as student looks to overcome her mentor--makes for some awkward moments at photo-shoots/press junkets. "I need to stop Scarlett in this fight," a serious Jen says in prefight, "especially after the draw--we both want a decisive outcome here. But it's more than that: I need to separate myself from Johansson; I need to show that I'm still in my prime and that every girl out there needs to respect me. I'll take chances to put Scarlett on her back--I have to." Johansson eager to accept fighting on those terms--but skeptical at the promise of pitched battle from Jen. "I sincerely hope Connelly is serious about bringing the fight me," Johansson says at the podium, "because she's right--I want a decisive victory and I can't get it if she's going to run all night. I don't know if Jennifer was EVER woman enough to stand toe-to-toe with me: I'm even less certain that she is now!" Connelly in white crochet bikini, string-tied sides; white gloves. Johansson in white underwire bikini, rose petal-and-stem print; white gloves. Stern eye contact during instructions, girls pounding mitts emphatically to touch-em-up.

During R1: Jen: right hand tight to cheek, right foot well back as she pivots clockwise 'round a long left jab. Scarlett: southpaw stance (left foot back), hammer-dropping and chopping her jab out from the elbow as she hops and stalks forward. Midway through--Jen with a brisk double-jab screen Scarlett--Johnasson never sees the BLISTERING short right cross to her chin. DOWN GOES SCARLETT! Jen dropping in a pure, clean, pinpoint nright--Scarlett startled, then stumbling to all fours as legs give way. Johnasson beats the count--Jennifer continues to circle rangy midring: Connelly knows the right hand can worki tonight.

R2: Jen staying on the outside in that limber wide stance--pumping hard jabs, rotating to her left, keeping right hand high and tight. Scarlett turning, pawing her right hand to bat-down Jen's jab, then lunging to stab a straight left to Jen's chest or tummy--cat-and-mouse action as girls take tyurns attacking or fading back, Connelly's ring generalship the difference--she's keeping her left foot outside of Scarlett's right, turning blonde, staying away from the straight left poke.

R3: Jen not always landing the jab against the southpaw stance--but it's bothering Scarlett and screening her vision: Connelly able to drop another exquisite right cross off a double jab onto Scarlett's chin, staggering Jo at the minute marlk. Johansson earmuffing up, scowling in hurt as she leans forward: Jennifer SCORCHING the body with fat, strapping rights and lefts licked hard across blonde waistline. Johansson hobbled, backing butt-first to ropes: she's a helpless vixen as Jennifer squares away, goies to town. Terrible lathering beatdown--Jennifer whipslinging her right hand across Scarlett's back--picking Jo up with vicious left uppercuts off the left foot. Blonde refuses to go down, but her body comes under serious attack for the first time tonight, Bell: Jennifer nostrils flaring, gives achy Scarlett a knowing once-over, trying to assess how much blonde has left.

R4: Jen takes a round off: Scarlett rallies. Johansson showing resilience and heart--shaking off terrible punishment to press the pace and attack jennifer all around the ring. Scarlett now putting
her right (lead) foot outside of  Jen's left foot--blonde able to place jarring straight kefts onto the left side of brunette jaw, jolting Jen in the process. Connelly's jab being batted out of the air by Scarlett's open-hand right: Scarlett's jab hammer-dropping down to good effect, knocking at Jen's cheeks. Scarlett even doubling up the left hand, prodding Jennifer hard on the left side of her face--awkward angle of the shot seems to shake Connelly up, bewildering her as much as hurting her.

R5: Scarlett pressing hard, pushing her luck: Jen makes her pay. Connelly slide-stepping back, rotating to her left--she's luring Scarlett in, timing the overager blonde and walking her into straight-jotting right hands up the middle. Scarlett utterly determined to out-hit Jen, paying a high price as time and again, brunette places exqusite poke for free, leaving Johansson rattled. Connelly using the ring beautifully, loping and pivoting outside, staying mobile: so far, no sign of the promised front-brawl that Scarlett had wished for in prefight.

R6: Scarlett still getting the odd hard-poking left onto Jen's jaw, and driving left hands into brunette chest or belly--but Johansson too reliant on raw determination to get these points. connelly controlling the ring, dictating with her loegs and strongl, piercing jab: Jen rotating away from Johansson's left hands and dropping in many kore clean straight rights up the middle. Scarlett's face swelling up nicely--she's glum, frowning, obviously discouraged as Jennifer picks away for more points in the sixth.

R7: Scarlett breaking down a little: Jen;s jab penetrating now, stamping against right eye. Minute mark, Jen freezes Scarlett with a brace of sudden jabs and pretty step-right: GORGEOUS right cross lances in, bounces off chin, jerking Scarlett a quarter turn to her right. DOWN GOES SCARLETT! Bad, bad knockdown--Johansson stiffening, dropping straight forward onto her right shoulder--she looks out cold for a heartbeat before slowly writhing up off her chest. Connelly strutting to neutral corner with a cold gaze of assessment: just a trace of a frown as jen sees scarlett ease to all fours, then fight off the KO, Jen turns big girl from then on: jabbing Johansson to ropes and going to work on the midsection, looking to take away Scarlett's legs and will to resist. Johansson covered up earmuff, tilted forward butt-in ropes: blonde suffers, Badly.

R8: Jen: double jab knocking at the bridge of Scarlett's nose; pretty pivot-right; RIGHT CROSS! punch has been there all night for jen--she curls into blow, driving it through Scarlett's chin--brunette right foot up on the big toe as she bends through the motion. Savage head jolt Scarlett--once again she's torqued a quarter turn to her right, legs stiffening, arms dropping limp as she topples straight forward. Scarlett out cold this time--right cheek moist on canvas, hands down at her sides--terrible, terrible KO8--Jennifer Connelly.

After: Connelly immediately crouching down to push Scarlett to her back and off her face--brunette deeply concerned at the sudden switch-off type KO. HMK officials move in--some rather brusque with Jen: going to take few drinks and a heartfelt conversation to mend this fence as Johansson's going to the hospital. BLONDE! Magazine publicly denouncing TU gym in the days to follow--claiming now that Scarlett was far too inexperienced to be fighting Connelly back to back (Before the fight, they had predicted the complete subjugation and downfall of Jennifer) and that this was another typical blonde-bounty type bout for which TU is notorious. Bottom line--Jen achieves the kind of decisive victory she was looking for--possibly Scarlett the beating of her young life in the process.
