UD10 Beckinsale

Against advice from her counselors, Kate forged ahead with her third consecutive fight against high profile Playboy bunny comp--her record against the bunnies being an unexpected pedestrian 1-1 coming in. Beckinsale would add a second bunny charm to her bracelet, but it would prove an expensive trinket as Brande stubbornly refuses to acknowledge Kate’s supremacy each and every minute of every round.

You knew it was going to be a hard slog when Kate got off to a very fast start--penetrating upstairs with jabs, hooks and crosses--hurting Brande with combinations and pinning the blonde at the ropes for what looked to be a blow-out first round stoppage, Galvanized by the touch f cable at her back, the spunky blonde denied Kate with sheets of desperation leather--punching the mouthpiece off Beckinsale’s teeth and forcing her to clinch to avoid a knockdown at the bell. From the point on--Kate would control Brande with sharp punching in combinations, but Roderick would fight with reckless abandon, repeatedly backing Kate off and repulsing Beckinsale advances. It would take Kate 7 rounds to construct her first real knockdown--finally hurting Roderick with a brace of hooks and dropping the blonde to all fours--and even then, Brande was slow to accept the inevitable, coming back to win the 8th against a very frustrated. And fuming Katie Becks.

So Beckinsale comes away with a bitter, life-and-death win, but one has to wonder if her Bunny Hunt has been a useful campaign. She’s famous enough without the distinction of being a bunny-basher; she’s had hard fights against Decesare and Roderick--frequently taking bad beatings in many of the rounds; she’s been exposed as sharp punching, but ultimately only moderately-powered bantamweight who needs to land in combination to put girls down. Certainly not the ego-boosting romp it was intended when Kate first launched her offensive. With Pam Anderson said to be interested in yet another out-of-retirement contest--Beckinsale has to know to know that a loss, or even another difficult struggle would be catastrophic to her reputation here.
