Before: Fight considered the female celeb version of De La Hoya/Trinidad with both women putting together impressive streaks to make the match. Tom with the recent screen credit eligible to fight for Theron’s Studio belt. Charlize a bit of an “Asian Assassin” with successful defenses against Kelly Hu and Tia Carrere. Early line makes Theron a 3-1 favourite, but late West Coast money makes it 50-50 at fight time. Most feel Charlize’s legs are the key--if she can box the shorter Tom and put mileage on the Hawaiian down the stretch, Tom’s legs are her Achilles heel. Kiana promises to bring he fight to Charlize, obviously willing to risk her chin in a brawl with Theron, in order to cancel out the breach and height advantage of the blonde. Fascinating blend of strengths and weaknesses make this a classic title bout match up. Kiana in red stretch short shorts, black, spaghetti strap halter style sports bra, white gloves and shoes--Charlize in white aerobics two piece, gloves and shoes against her golden-tanned body.

During R1: Kiana gets out in front in a hurry, and make it her right with a series of crashing rights to bust Charlize open in the first minute. Theron reeling, taking blows off the side of her head, is bullied to the ropes, and outmuscled upstairs by the broad shouldered Kiana. Tom pushing Charlize into ropes, pounds away with left hooks and sizzling right crosses, dropping the right foot back for extra power and keeping Theron’s pinned. Halfway through the round, a pounding right hand up the middle drapes Charlize over the top rope, and this fight looks over early, but Charlize soaks it up, hands feebly at her lips and Kiana whips lefts and rights to the body to the bell, Brutal mauling by Kiana leaves Charlize glassy eyed and helpless, and Tom bodies up for tainting during nthe break, until the ref intercedes.

R2: Kiana starts fast again, stopping right and dropping the right hand in a tight arc over Charlize’s left shoulder to send the blonde staggering to the side. Charlize with some good upper body movement and clinching makes Kiana miss for much of the rest of the way, but in the final minute, Tom is able to punch lefts and rights to Charlize’s breasts, pummeling the blonde to the ropes and setting her up for illegal blows to the quads, as Tom looks to stiffen Theron’s legs at the bell.

R3: Charlize finally gets into the fight, buffing Tom’s face with a snapping jab, and circling to her right to move away from Kiana’s power side. Tom unable to cut off the ring on the dancer, winds up chasing and eating the jab for most of the round as Theron folks to coax her legs back to life.

R4: Charlize with a nice left hook, beats Tom’s right hands early to keep Kiana at a distance. Sloppy rounds as Tom brings right hands over the top from too far away, missing as Charlize leans back and circles in retreat. Theron takes the round behind the pinpoint jab--Tom’s vulnerable eyes begin to swell from the attention.

R5: OH KIANA! Kiana Tom busts Charlize up with a crushing left to the stomach, overhand right to the cheek that drops Theron to her knees to open the round;. Charlize is up at 8, but unresponsive to questioning, and she stumbles forward into 3 minutes of hell grom the muscular Polynesian. Tom stepping back away from Theron’s reaching arms, drills right hands into Charlize’s face, beating the blonde unrecognizable while lavishing the midsection with excruciating hooks. Tom able to step around the staggery blonde, set her feet and lash her punches, beats Charlize ragged, scoring devastating power punches in every minute. Theron a pathetic wreck at the bell, stumbles to the wrong corner and has to be directed to her stool. Smelling salts and panic prevail in the Theron corner during the break.

R6: Only Charlize Theron takes a beating like the 5th, and wins the very next round. Walking through Kiana’s rights on the jaw, Charlize bodies up, clinching the smaller woman and walking Kiana to the ropes. Slowing the tempo, Charlize begins to slug with Tom, taking the right cross to land her own right uppercut. Kiana gives way, wobbly butt and starting to push punches as Theron puts hurt on her. At the bell, Theron seeing through slits, beats Kiana to the punch as both women push exhausted lefts and rights at each other, Tom’s face getting batting side to side in the process.

R7: Kiana digs into Charlize taut gut with that well-leveraged left hook, standing outside and bending her torso into the blows. Theron folds up, elbows in, and Tom shines her face with a backhanded jab from the hip. In the final minute, standing right in front of Theron, Kiana drops that right foot, and BRNGS the right hand, bashing back Charlize’s face. Speedbag action from Kiana as she bangs the right hand, drags it back across Charlize’s burbling lips to set up a left hook, then finishing with another banging right at the bell.

R8; Charlize answers the bell and pounds her own left hook to Kiana’s body, the punches bouncing off the taut brown meat like basketballs on concrete. Tom’s legs buckle and she covers up. Charlize swaying in front of Tom, jerks the right uppercut in between Kiana’s mitts to snap Kiki’s head back repeatedly. Tom hanging on at the bell as the girls fall in together.

R9: Kiana with exhausted work to Charlize midsection. The two girls go shoulder to shoulder, eyes drooping, mouths open. Kiana snapping the left hook to the waistline, then crouching in with her shoulder against Charlize as the blonde leans in. Tom the busier fighter, both are saving themselves for the 10th.

R10”: OH CHARLIZE! Charlize comes out to meet Kiana at center ring and the exhausted battlers bring the crowd to its feet with a wild exchange. Trading intense hooks and clubbing rights at close range, both girls are beaten senseless moments into the round when a cracking Theron left hook nearly puts Kiana down. Tom with the deep knee bend, staggers away with a saddened expression, and Theron stumbles forward, pushing the right hand in pursuit. On the ropes, Kiana grapples up under Charlize arms, and turns the blonde’s back to the ropes, squirms to break Charlize clinch. Kiki stepping out, leans into a crashing right hand on the temple and CHARLIZE IS HURT!! Theron goes wobbly butt, sitting on the middle rope, pushing lefts and rights into Kiana’s face, but no longer hurting the Hawaiian. Kiana pours it on lanky limbs snapping off punches with bitter strength, lashing at Charlize waist with the left hook, heartlessly pounding the blonde’s face with the right hand and the bell sounds to end the fight. Kiana with mindless punching at the bell, beats Theron into a stupor, and is pushed back by the ref. The decision comes back a Unanimous Duke for the winner and NEW Universal Studio’s champ: Kiana Tom.

After: Bitter take no prisoners war of attrition gives Kiana her first studio title and ends a very impressive title reign by Charlize Theron. Theron hurt from the very first minute of this fight, showed why her chin is considered the black box of the female celebrity game--taking Kiana’s best punches in the first, fifth, 7th and 10th rounds of a non-stop action packed slugfest. One of the few times in recent memory when the hype didn’t do justice to the fight. Although Charlize has the rematch clause in her contract no word at pres time as to her future plans in the aftermath of this heartbreaking defeat.
