Before Hannigan getting a well deserved tour of division blondes--respectable performances against pampered Tara Reid opening doors all over the place. “Alyson outworked Tara,” analyzes Claire in prefight, “that’s not going to happen with me. I expect her to be rugged and stubborn, but badly outclassed. And I’m going to punch with Alyson--you’re going to see ‘Slugging Claire’ again because Hannigan’s a nibbler and can’t keep me off the way she did Tara.” Red bandeau bikini, half-hipster bottoms fo0r Alyson identical suit in black for Claire.

During R1: Hannigan out with the right tight against her cheek, using her legs and back ti churn and rake hooks. Alyson with a stroking cuff of Claire’s right ear, doubles down with a digging hook in the solar plexus and DANES GOES WOBBLY BUTT! Claire shouting out in pain, reaching in to clinch--Alyson’s face a-glow as she works around Danes’ reaching arms to the ropes for breaks, gets her wind back, starts to put offense together at the half way mark, Danes stabbing the first jab, then keaving the glove on Alyson’s face, scraping, chiseling, then DRILLING in screened right hands. Stamping shots have Hannigan staggering and ALYSON GOES DOWN! Hannigan wide eyed, tremble-bodied on her hands and knees, takes a shaky 8 and ON COMES CLAIRE! Claire stepping in, letting her hands go--rolling lefts and rights from underneath slash and clout to the body and head as Hannigan sags against the ropes, Down the stretch, Claire beating Alyson down with a series of sustained rolling barrages and it’s all too much for red. Alyson takes a boozy knee near the bell, cut in the mouth, dazed and paying dearly for hurting Claire in the body.

R2: Danes win the first big, but she’s still feeling that body shot--blonde grimacing, not moving well, and busy little redhead tracks her down, starts touching her along the ropes. Hannigan with the right at her cheek, digging and tapping her left--she’ll jab, step in with a patting hook against tight belly flesh, curl the left up into the tits, cuff it over the top--Danes taking the same sort of nuisance beating that had Reid mesmerized. Claire pushing Alyson’s shoulders, sitting in the ropes and defending for the most part, gives away the round as Alyson works for points.

R3; Claire gets her legs back--fight gets easier. Danes nice and easy to her left, just stepping, but it’s enough to turn Hannigan, prevent her from getting off with rhythm. Clockwise rotation taking Alyson’s hook out of the game--Claire abloe to ste in, lick and lash in rolling bursts, then pivot left to escape.

R4: More Danes polishing up her opponent--Hannigan finding the odd hook in the ribs but unable to land those 3 and 5 pitty pat sequences she needs. Claire using the entire ring, laying her jab out not just to score but to screen for her piercing right hands. Down the stretch, Claire lands a shattering right on Alyson’s left eye, shaking red to her ank;les and starting a gruesome welt that’s only going to get worse.

R5: Danes guilty of standing in front of Alyson, gets coaxed into that workmanlike trade that’s Hannigan’s bread and butter. Girls just hunkered in close, moving their hands, touching each other in the body to set up scoring blows on the chin, but it’s all B speed stuff. Hannigan backing Claire up, using the right hand selectively, doing all the heavy lifting with her left. Gloves of both women sounding out in sharp Pik! Pak! Pek! Noises as bodies pink up nicely this round.

R6: Danes reminded to move left--takes the play away from Hannigan--it’s really that simple. Claire stooping, trapshooting--eyes bright with focus as she runs Hannigan onto the jab, stamps right hands to the tit and chink then turns her girl midring to keep the angle. Alyson dutifully struggling forward, getting picked up--she’s made to look like a journeywoman this round.

R7: Danes trades with Hannigan--Alyson gets the better of it. Hannigan’s little hook repeatedly bounces off Claire’s chin, digs the ribs, sticks into the belly, curls off the chest. Danes gritting her teeth, trying to lash back, work off the shoulder bump--she’s doing well enough to convince her stay inside, but getting outworked all the same. Hannigan finishing up strong at the bell, patting Claire down with about a dozen unanswered nibbling punches.

R8: Claire back outside, sliding to her left, keeping the jab on Alyson, patiently winning a round easy. Hannigan can’t cut the ring off, needs to be set to work--Danes taking nit all away. Alyson’s left eye a swollen purple mess after 8.

R9: Hannigan fighting in spots--Claire occasionally dancing to the ropes and letting Aly get off, but for the most part, Danes sticking to her game plan, turning Hannigan and walking her into right hands.

R10: Claire closes the show like a champ--really going after Alyson and trying to get her out of there. First minute, Claire stepping in, getting off with rolling lefts and rights, then pivoting out, has Hannigan reeling--redhead stumbling forward with gloves at her temples, just trying to get through the storm. Middle minute, Danes giving Hannigan a taste of belly punching, blonde really getting whip action on her hook and drawing and cries of surprised agony out of Alyson as the redhead buckles. Danes coming off the body with the left uppercut, pounding the mouthpiece off Hannigan’s teeth and busting Alyson up. Down the stretch, a heartless Claire Danes circles, jabbing Aly between the eyes, then drilling opportunistic right hands that stamp back Hannigan’s head with a sick loll--Alyson numb with shock by the bell as she staggers forward, glassy eyed and punished hy the end. Comes back UD10 by convincing margin Claire Danes.

After: For 7 rounds, Hannigan fought a plucky fight, nagging at Claire with busy punching, always coming forward, working the blonde’s body. Final third of the bout, Danes really separated herself, breaking Alyson down with lateral movement and  churning combinations--it’s a badly battered Alyson Hannigan who finishes the fight.
