It’s all Hu after the 4th--she;s the more dynamic fighter, the more explosive athlete and quicker mitted gal, but for 3 brief heats Julie (billed as the “Asian Badass” in prefight hype) gave the champ all she wanted in this non title optional affair.

Honey golden bodies glistening under a humid pacific sun--these girls set a blistering pace in the first round as HU showed complete distain and very little common sense by wading in all big-girl against lanky Chen. But Julie wasn’t playing--hands down, chin dangerously exposed, she routinely pecked and poked from outside, fringe skirt dancing on her wiry thighs as she repeatedly found Hu’s face and pre-empted her. Julie snapped her jab from a half extended position, constantly catching Hu coming in and the Chen right hand, steered from the hip, couldn’t miss Kelly’s left eye. Whenever Hu backed up, Julie’s range was uncanny, allowing her to swing a left hook hard to cheek, marking the beautiful ms Hu up something terrible after 3 fiery minutes, Although the second would see a more cautious Hu dictate pace if not punishment--Chen would return in the third with more pesky, awkwardly effective pokes, hacks and chops while loping around her confused quarry.

But leaving one’s chi hanging in the wind isn’t a great idea against a sharpshooter the caliber of Kelly Hu. The fourth saw Kelly find Julie’s jaw with unerring precision--both jarring rights and clipping left hooks, and Chen’s silky smooth legs began to unravel. Game As they come, Chen came out for more of the same in the fifth, and even badly in the sixth, Shiners and stung pride for Hu, who took more clean punches than we’re used to seeing; a quality drubbing for delectable Chen who hung together than her elegant features would seem to have promised.
