Before: Carmen puts on a show during pre-fight conference, and turns the weigh-in into a video shoot--all in an effort to unhinge the psychologically fragile blonde. But Smith seems unfazed by the production.. She’s the bigger woman in this fight, has the experience, and unlike a lot of fighters, has actually faced opponents with a similar style to the flamboyant Electra. Carmen the heavy favourite coming in, she fights in purple 2 piece work out wear, high neck--Smith shows in teal beach volleyball gear.

During R1: Courtney totally dominates the first round, sending a message to Electra that she won’t be intimidated. Smith is deadly accurate with right hand, pounding Electra to the temple on several occasions with short, single shots with plenty of body behind them. Carmen’s legs are wobbly early, and she stands and trades throughout much of the round, allowing Smith to put together sweet 3 punch combinations, more often than not ending off with Electra’s head being rocked back.

R2: Electra obviously hurting, and she continues to stand and trade, and Smith eats her alive early this round. Courtney’s height and reach advantages are decisive as she is able to coolly look her opponent over, lean back away to make Carmen come up short with her punches, then lean forward to pound the Electra face that drilling right. Smith does get careless however, and in the final minute, with Carmen rotating her upper body low, Electra suddenly jerks upward and plows a right hand into Smith’s chin. Smith on her butt before she knows what’s happened, and Carmen steals a round with the knockdown.

R3: Identically paced round to the second, Smith circling, taking Electra apart with slick combinations, breaking the brunette down, Just as Electra looks boxed in, she comes leaping in, this time with a left hand thrown from well behind her hip out of a southpaw stance, and once again, Smith’s legs give way. Courtney stands wide eyed and swaying, and has to absorb a beating to the bell.

R4:,5: Smith more cautious, doesn’t load up these rounds, content simply to pick away at the unusually stationary brunette. Electra moving her upper body well, minimizes Smith, countering occasionally with thudding hooks to the body, Courtney takes both rounds as the action slows considerably.

R6: Carmen rediscovers her legs and freezes Courtney with the Ali shuffle, then leaps in to land a clouting left hook across the mouth. On her heels, Courtney can’t get away from the torquing right of Electra, and Smith goes to her back for the third time in the fight. Carmen actually reaches down to help Smith to her feet before the ref separates the girls, and as Courtney sags to the ropes, Electra wades in. Smith takes several bashing blows as Electra stands in front  of her, undulating her torso and whipping her body into devastating power shots, but midway through the round, Courtney catches Carmen with a short counter left. Electra’s legs do the funky chicken as she staggers straight back, and Smith wades in! Slugging straight from the shoulder, she catches Electra moving back with chopping lefts and rights, and practically runs Carmen over as brunette topples to the canvas. Electra can’t get off her back, and Courtney raises her mitts in triumph! Huge KO wins for CTS.

After: After all the ink that’s been written, proclaiming Electra the best small woman since Caroline Munro, and maybe ever--people are starting to wonder whether there’s more sizzle than steak here. Anyone who just fights her tough seems to have success, and this was a well-earned win for Courtney, who just won’t stay down.
