Before: Ryan's debut on television, not expected to win, but she is confident in a bubbly enough way. Theron fairly diplomatic in pre-fight, expressing a wish to get some rounds in, and complimenting Ryan on the work she's done in the gym to make this fight legitimate. Teal Adidas terrycloth trunks and white jogbra for Charlize, Red aerobics two piece for Jeri.

During R1-3: Rabid star trek fans make this seem like a pick 'em fight, but Charlize sets the tone, taking all three rounds with solid boxing fundamentals. Stepping to the left, sticking Jeri with the jab, Theron stays in control throughout. Ryan fights in spurts, but her gym form quickly degenerates in the real thing: her punches are wide, easily parried or evaded by Charlize, and Jeri's footwork needs homework.

R4, 5: Charlize tightening the noose. Mixing in the right hand, Theron begins to bang back Jeri's head with authority in these rounds. Charlize still rotating clockwise, but setting down on her punches, confident she can recover from throwing before Jeri can do anything. Ryan's defense is non-existent: she seems to watch that short right hand coming in as it crashes home. After 5, it's all Charlize, and Jeri is beginning to wear down, as well as getting discouraged.

R6: Charlize has done the groundwork, now she steps into Jeri, really looking to finish early. Jabbing over Jeri's right shoulder, Charlize leave her forearm there, cleverly non-holding Ryan in place for that drilling right hand to the mouth. Ryan absorbs tremendous shots, buckling at the knees and finally falls to all fours in shock. Theron turns bully, shoving Ryan to the ropes, using her forearm to push Jeri back, and pitching in rights and lefts. Ryan seems dazed and in the final minute, a pounding left to the stomach leaves her helpless for a slashing right hand to the jaw. Ryan folds sideways into the ropes, but finishes on her feet as Charlize is pushed away by the referee.

R7: Charlize follows up the carpet bombing last round with surgical strikes this round. Keying on Ryan's left eye, Theron methodically closes the orb with a punishing jab. It's a shutout round for Charlize, and Jeri's beginning to get the idea that the two of them aren't friends after all.

R8: Jeri Ryan shocks Charlize with a looping right hand out of nowhere, rocking the big blonde's head back and following up with a crazed series of lunging lefts and rights as Theron stumbles backwards. Charlize manages to get her feet back underneath her, and regains control with the jab, but she does a lot more clinching this round as she tries to shake off that punch. Ryan frustrated by the holding, winds up losing a round she started strong in.

R9: Jeri goes back to the well and NAILS Charlize with that looping overhand right and THERON IS HURT!! Charlize hands drop as she walks aimlessly sideways, and eats a wide left hand to the face that nearly drops her. Charlize looks like a beginner on stilts, clattering around the ring, eyes blank as Jeri tries to finish. Only Ryan's lack of a jab, or how to finish saves Theron, and by the midway point, Charlize times Ryan's awkward rush and bounces a short right hand off the girl's wide open chin. RYAN IS HURT!! Jeri now goes wobbly butt, mouth wide open, and Charlize takes over, swinging with lefts and rights to the jaw to drape Jeri over the ropes.
Charlize bodies up, clinching, and punching on the inside to the bell, winning another round Jeri had in the bag with sheer tenacity.

R10: Jeri Ryan comes out exhausted for the tenth, and her heart sinks as Theron resumes her punishing jabbing. Every punch seems to rock Ryan's head back, as Theron, now looking shopworn herself, grimly sets herself the task of breaking Jeri down. Two minutes of constant left hands to the face have Ryan groggy and nearly blinded. In the final minute, Charlize steps up the pace, hooking off the jab, and going into power punch mode. Suddenly, Ryan is busted up, backpedaling as Charlize moves in behind brutal left hooks and that pulverizing right hand. AND RYAN GOES DOWN. Theron steamrollers Jeri, stepping awkwardly over the fallen blonde as her momentum takes her forward and Ryan is flat out on her back, hands up around her head, KO'd. Dramatic final minute knockout for Charlize caps a long night Jeri Ryan.

After: Ryan bitterly resentful of this long, sustained beating, to which Charlize can only shrug. As thorough a beat down as you are ever likely to see, spiced up by Ryan's good if isolated efforts at resistance, and Theron's cruel intensity down the stretch.
