BOXING AFTER DARK

Before: girls toe the line at 130, coming in soft nut strong as Jewel looks to stay busy/ Kilcher all business--but Winslet heavy with the trash, very intense during interviews and talking about “harming” the blonde--almost looks like Kate’s trying to psyche herself up. Winslet not all that experienced with the gloves, coming from a successful stint as a celebrity wrestler, where her strength and finishing instincts were pronounced. Jewel in teal bandeau top, navy bottoms, tight ponytail. Kate in predominantly white bandeau with pastel pink and blue slashes.

During r1: Kate eschewing the jab, spanks a hard right hand off the shiny forehead of the blonde, clouting a serviceable hook off the teeth to rock Jewel back a step at the open. Kilcher storms back in with consecutive left hooks to the waist and had, forcing Winslet to step back--nice banging give and take established as girls trade serious leather from the get go. Kilcher slowly establishes the edge, pounding her girl’s midriff religiously, and backing Winslet to the ropes for a steamy beat down. Kate standing up straight, hands high to block--she’s waiting for spots while Jewel is working. Kilcher cautious not to waste energy: she’s bobbing for a few seconds, just pawing and touching at her target before sinkling a body shot or clouting right hand on the jaw--Wnslet just not answering back. Kate with some late counter right hands, punches off the ropes at the bell to end a crowd pleasing first. Winslet all huffing and glaring--Jewel comparatively cool upon separating.

R2: Winslet opens with clubbing power shots mid ring, pounding right hands off Jewel’s head swiping left hooks across the buxom blonde’s bandeau--Jewel soaking it up without flinching, bobs, comes back at the redhead’s plush body and finishes up ropeside, Methodical work from Jewel again--she’s got the better head movement, and surprisingly, the MUCH better hand speed in combination. Kilcher taking a little off the right hand to get off in bunches, looks sharper, quicker than ever before--Kate with arms crossed, or stacked up in front of her body is taking cracking licks across her face as she stands there--pounded wobbly butt at the bell.

R3: Kate luring Jewel to the ropes by design, and this time Winslet shows her craft. Loose and relaxed, Kate starts to counter diligently, lifting Jewel’s head up with the little right uppercut, then spanking it to the side with a swatting left, Clinching, pushing Jewel back with the shoulder, but always sinking back into the ropes to draw Kilcher in, Jewel over-anxious this round, misreading her opponent’s posture--throws away huge lefts and rights to the side as Winslet calmly blocks with her elbows, then counters tough to Jewel’s face. Shutout Kate--Jewel getting god advice from her corner during the break.

R4: Shutout Jewel Kilcher. A little patience goes a long way as Jewel forces Kate to the ropes once again, but doesn’t just bomb away. Kilcher moving her head side to side, up and down, pawing and pulling at Kate’s guard, then RIPPING punches in combination. Winslet grunting, bunching up from the body work or getting cracke dhard to the face--redhead staring bleakly as she soaks it up.

R5: Jewel with more pressure and unguessed hand speed, Kilcher working out of her crouch very effectively, pokes her head in between Kate’s gloves to bury fists into the soft gut below, then shoulders Winslet back to reset. Jewel just working up and down her foe with shellacking licks that have ringsiders often shouting “OH!” from the force. Down the stretch, girls lean into very short right hands and JEWEL GOES DOWN! Kilcher rocked o her butt in a heartbeat as Kate measures her all round long for a single counter shot--Winslet gesturing with her right hand and nodding as Kilcher scrambles groggily to her feet. Kate stealing a Jewel Kilcher round, sends the blonde wobbly bhutt to her corner.

R6: Jewel bac on with a vengeance--the first minute sees Kate absolutely helpless up against the ropes, just covering up, gritting her teeth and taking a brutal assortment of punches to her body and head. Jewel’s punching is startling sharp and quick fisted--she’s turning over on a short right hand that’s squeaking past Kate’s guard to nail chin, she’s hammering left hands to the soft underbelly, then coming off the gut with the left uppercut to rock Winslet back with a shower of sweat. Winslet just pounded into shellshocked amazement as Kilcher piles on. Bell to bell beat down--Jewel working methodically, but mixing up her punches well, changing her tempo--Winslet just can’t get a bead on her in a discouraging sixth for the redhead.

R7: Shutout Jewel Kilcher, Jewel back on top, pummeling her foe ropeside, but moving her head, staying calm--not just in there flailing. Winslet with the off chopping counter, but she’s missing over the top and paying the price as Kilcher goes back to the body with both hands--Kate’s face paler, expressionless as she soaks it up, just laying back into the ropes and getting herself worked over. The sharpness of jewel’s punches is remarkable--she bends just to the side, pulling a left or right into Kate’s face and continually jars the redhead--savage punching drawing oohs and aaahs from ringsiders ho can hear the punishment as well as see it. Jewel bodying up sweatily at the bell, letting Kate feel the weight as the ref works to break’em up.

R8: Jewel’s got the cuffs on Kate and she’s being the boss as Winslet once again melts from center ring to a seat on the ropes. Everything flows from the body--Kilcher just welting Winslet to the sides an belly, getting her shoulders and legs in behind savage rips, then finishing sequences upstairs with left uppercuts or chopping right hands,. Kate just lolling, taking--she’s all busted up after 8 grueling rounds, but she’s still alert. Late in the round, she nails Jewel another sharp right hand counter ad Kilcher bends back into a right uppercut--Kilcher’s head spinning prettily as a result.

R9: Jewel bodying up, bullying Kate to the ropes--it’s all Kilcher this round as she FEASTS on that trembling midsection, scoring heavily. Then leaning on the drenched redhead to catch her breath for yhe next sequence, Kilcher using her palms and shoulders to nudge Kate back, getting her head on Winslet’s chest and rubbing it roughly along Winslet’s jaw. It’s just great, grinding work from the blonde, answered only occasionally by the redhead who spends punches like they’re gold coins.

R10: ICEBERG! Jewel squared up and working again--Kate all hurting, hands loose at her chin, but once again, the redhead times the blonde for a sweet short right hand on the teeth and Jewel’s legs nearly give way. Winslet blocking with a high left, rolls with Kilcher’s right and nails the blonde another big right hand on the chin and Jewel is HURT! Kate clinching up under the blonde’s arms, twists to her to the ropes and swarms, finally moving her hands as Kilcher swoons. Winslet pouring it on to finish, reefing left uppercuts into Jewel’s breasts, then turning into lethal rights on the face--Kilcher in a stupor, hands low, taking fresh shots--suddenly Jewel answers back! Jewel fighting on instinct, wills her fists up into Kate’s stomach--Winslet buckling forward has to clinch all shook up--ref breaks’em up as both girls reel away on shaky pins. A tepid middle minute of circling and pawing from well outside as both girls try to recover, then they fall in together in a mad dash for the bell, Trading right hands, brawling one another back across the ring--crowd roaring and fulsome beauties reach down and give something extra as they spill along the ropes, lighting one another up with sensational bombs. Winslet finally getting Jewel’s back in a corner, takes over with her left palm at Jewel’s shoulder, cranking right hands as Kilcher covers up--but it’s too little too later. Decision comes back UD10 Jewel Kilcher in a rousing brawl.

After: Winslet storms from the ring, badly beaten, bitterly disappointed as Jewel outworks her redhead on the night. Kilcher throwing in combination as never before, really controlled her opponent, winning rounds, managing her energy--an impressive, heady performance from a girl who had relied almost exclusively on the KO in the past. Kate showing great durability, but a little too much patience--had the right fight plan, but the wrong Jewel showed up.
