Before: Veteran redheads get together in what should be a classy romp. Helgenberger choosing her spots carefully, has come up with some good wins this year and nis quietly taking her place as a veteran to be dealt with, Anderson inactive lately, returns with designs on bantam, but telling reporters, “I can still make 110 for the right fight,” the right fight being in all likelihood a rematch with hated Lucy Liu. Helgenberger in pale blue push up and panties, white lace trim; Gillian in black push up and panties.

During R1: Veterans dig in, get after each other with economical, flat footed boxing designed to set up HARD pay off punches off the jab or hook. Marg rocks Gillian in the first minute with a double tap hook off the cheek, then down into the liver has Anderson groaning. Moments later, Anderson stuns Helgenberger a right hand off the jab, then steps in hard with the shoulder bump, turning over ANOTHER cracking right that sends Marg reeling, Marg coming back with stick and move in the final minute, keeping her distance, clearly wary of the compact redhead’s pop in a surprising first. Helgenberger busier, but Anderson landing more of the big, eye-catching shots to steal the round.

R2: Girls settle down--a little more defensively responsible, a little more patient. Rotating gently clockwise, girls hooking off the jab, keeping those chins tucked behind the left shoulder, both girls countering off the block. Down the stretch, Anderson catches a Helgenberger right hand on her glove, immediately responds with a chopping right on the mouth and a banging hook on the eye to put Marg wobbly butt. Helgenberger hanging off Anderson’s neck at the bell, giving up some gorgeous lefts and right to her belly ass Gillian scoops the round.

R3: Helgenberger feels it slipping away, gets shoulder to shoulder with Anderson and really digs into the meat of Gillian’s midsection his round. G giving ground, clinching up around Marg’s busy shoulders--Helgenberger dipping low when she has to, keeping Anderson stiff and hurting, shouldering her back and pounding that body with both hands. Anderson on the ropes, riding her left hand on Marg’s shoulder, trying to pull the redhead in close, but marg;s not having it--chopping away on that exposed left side as Gillian slips into stupor. Down the stretch, Anderson’s starting to drift and Helgenberger goes for it! Marg pounding the body, then coming up with the right uppercut, slugging under Gillian’s outstretched left to bang back Scully’s head. And THE REF JUMPS IN! Anderson stopped out at the ropes, weaves uncertainly as Helgenberger struts it up. Hard working TKO3 Marg Helgenberger.

After: Fighters are cool with each other afterwards--they aren’t friends, but, nobody’s showing anybody up--none of the preening and posturing we’re used to from the FCBA’s younger crowd. Marg addressing cameras with a white towel around her neck, “We tried to surprise each bo9ther by turning puncher,: she laughs, “we both got so banged up in the first that we dfidn;t have any choice afterwards. Someone had ton go. It was a gamble to try and take her out--If she had survived, I wouldn’t have had anything left. One more round and it would‘ve been  ME getting worked over!” Asked about her plans, Marg shows no hesitation in calling out the FCBA’s youth, “I want Jessica Alba. I want the Spears payday. Fighting girls like Gillian is like eating tough old diner-steak--I want something tender. You see these kids coming up and they’re so spoiled. Eliza Dushku would have had a hard time holding her ground on ‘China Beach’--I think we all would have had our way with her. These are the girls I see myself with.”
