BEFORE: "It always comes down to me," Claire grins in prefight. "Hayden runs amok for a while, and when the division is groaning under her tyranny, the battered masses turn their eyes to me for salvation. I can't tell you how many emails from fighters and fans alike I've received, begging me for deliverance - it's heartwarming, it really is. Time to rein this bully in, guys: time to bring Hayden to heel!" Panettiere rolling her eyes: Claire Danes as savior almost too much to handle. "PLEASE!" Hayden groans at podium, "Stop the insanity. Claire Danes, heroine? Are you kidding me? The only girls begging her to step up are Mish and Kris, 'cause they know it'll fall to them if she fails, and they don't want the job! I respect Claire for sure, but I'm not buying into her crap. The last thing flyweight fighters want to see is a resurgent wolfpack, believe me!" Claire in snug black boy-cut bottoms; lavender sport top with thin straps; small black gloves; scrappy blonde ponytail with bangs. Hayden in white thin-strap sport top; lollipop red cheerleader spanky bottoms; small red gloves; hair in battle-bun with bangs framing face.
During R1: Jitterbugging Hayden at Claire frisky: stubby jabs/bobbing head movement; scooting feet. Claire pivoting-left, dragging her front (left) foot in a bucket - she's pushing on Hayden's head to help steer her 'round, diffusing Panny-pressure early. Second minute on, Claire taking over from the wide-stance/pivot routine - left hand pulling Hayden's head down; right hand chipping and scuffing at her face. Hayden trying to erupt from the crouch, but finding Claire elusive...Danes able to lean back, pivot out of range, then regain initiative with jab-and-grab left hand techniques. Thumb in the eye at the bell doesn't help Hayden's cause: she cries out, turning away in pain as Claire shrugs, telling ref: "Accident."
R2: Same again - Hayden wants pressure; Claire managing the heat with cool pivots, grabby left hands and chippy rights. Claire sidestepping while pushing Hayden's head down - ref warns Danes about it. Another Claire routine: extending left arm to palm Panettiere's forehead stiff-arm, then jabbing Hayden's tits - then stiff-arming her forehead again. Panny visibly frustrated - she's having trouble getting to Danes with any consistency through 2. Bell: Claire following Hayden to her corner, innocently asking Madsen "Can you up her game please? I'm like working at about 30% here - gimme some competition at least!" Ref escorting Claire away as tempers flare.
R3: Claire stinks out the joint - totally unrepentant as boos rain down. Hayden huffing and puffing, can't even FIND Claire's door to blow it down: Danes pivoting and bobbing, sidestepping and slipping, feinting and weaving. Hayden attacking with fury as Claire backs into HISC corner: Danes bouncing off adjacent ropes, shimmying her shoulders, twisting and turning herself...she emerges unscathed after a half dozen Panettiere punches fail to land flush. Claire also employing tactical clinches - reaching under Hayden's arms, lifting her onto her toes and walking her backward: ref issuing breaks and warnings, but this is classic Claire Danes sorcery. Punchstat record set as NEITHER girl lands a punch - although Hayden's throwing plenty. Huge psychological effect though as Claire's all smiles; Hayden's fuming.
R4: What th'...Claire in forward aspect? Yep: Danes' weight on left (lead) leg; right heel up off canvas...she's pivoting left, dealing lethal left hand techniques as Hayden tries to penetrate. Stiff, spiteful jabs spank at Hayden's hairline, tracking her head movement. Dip-n-rip left uppercuts gouge at Hayden, picking her up out of her stance, even digging at her chest when she's crouching. Claire wheeling to her left, occasionally dropping in lead right hands, or hesitation right hands off feints: Hayden turning-with, facing in, really getting shined up. Half way through, Panny's wheels fall off: she catches a pair of jagged, rapidly-clipped left uppercuts that have her blinking - hesitation dip-n-rip RIGHT uppercut picks her up, sits her down for an 8 count! Upon resumption Hayden's wobbly-butt: Claire attacking in forward aspect - rip-snatching left hands off Hayden's tight little tummy, then licking her left uppercuts to chin...HAYDEN'S DOWN AGAIN! Panettiere sputtering, shaking her head on all fours: Claire strutting past, hands on hips, smiling smug as she snarks to ringsiders: "It's easy to forget how small she really is, isn't it?"
R5: Midring - Claire embarrassing Hayden: Panettiere just gritting her teeth, trying to get leather on will-o'-the-wisp Danes. Claire smirking as she vexes - working the stiff double jab to Hayden's face; feinting, then bringing the tart hesitation straight right; pivoting to the side, turning around her left shoulder with chin tucked smartly in behind. Claire freezing Hayd with feints, then humming in left/right/left straight tapping sequences, keeping Penny covered up. Hayden reluctant to punch - she's been nibbled and scuffed off every miss, and it's starting to paralyze her psychologically. Bell: Claire laughing, sending Hayden to her corner with a healthy right hand clap against those astounding buttocks. Madsen really getting in front of Hayden, rallying her discouraged little charge during the break, but pulling no punches: "Hayd - listen to me: she's leaving you behind. You've GOT to pick up the pace. Put hands on her Hayd, touch her, get to her body. Baby it's now or never: you've got to start hurting her!"
R6: Claire smirking, pivoting, turning clockwise around that left shoulder. Hayden pressing - spitting out straight rights and lefts...Panny stepping-with the pivots, landing to chest and face, scuffing Claire when Danes thinks she's safe. Claire drawn into firefights - dipping and digging uppercuts to Hayden's ribcage: hook finds Claire's chin a minute in, followed by clouting right...DANES IS ROCKED! Claire frowning in confusion, hitting ropes: left hand dangling at her side, right at her chest as she twitches shoulders side to side - dips her head - leans back into ropes. Hayden squaring away - palming Claire's hips to stabilize, then bouncing mitts off ribs/waist. Claire grimacing/twisting/dipping: Hayden ignoring the head, overloading Claire's body - even pounding right hands against Claire's left hip flexor to draw warnings from ref. Hayden pushed back on breaks, but scooting back in: Danes' concerned, loose in the pocket, rolling shots as Hayden pours it on. Claire twisting to her right, her hands down: hook catches her on the teeth, straightening her up. Claire staring when a right clips across her chin; tidy left clips across her chin...Hayden twitching off tight combos, pasting Claire senseless at bell. RIGHT HAND, HAYDEN! Panny pasting some insurance onto Claire...Wolfpack up out of their seats, screaming for DQ...Claire glassy eyed, swaying on the spot, shaking her head to rally.

R7: Claire attempting to pivot-and-poke, but Hayden not having it: Panettiere turning into the attack, stepping-with, moving her hands in straight, shocking pokes to jam Claire ropeside. Danes loose - often dropping either or both hands to her sides as she dips left or right, showing either shoulder to Panettiere while leaning forward or back. Panny scooting-to - hungrily at Claire's shipshape ribs with ratatat combos...small mitts bouncing off lean meat, then Hayden's palming Claire's hips to square her up. Danes mouthbreathing - pulling Hayden's head down: Panny fighting through it, churning now, even opening herself up to counters as she mounts sustained pressure. Claire cuffing at Hayden - hitting her with open-palm heel-hands - riding forearms into Hayden's shoulders to push her off: Panny pressing through, refusing to be denied. Claire catching hooks on her mouth when she's dipping torso-right...Danes laying back on ropes, blinking, staring as Hayden follows up crisp left/right/lefts across the face, punching Claire into stupor. Crowd screaming - Danes seldom face-punched this effectively, but by the bell, she's basically catching hell from Hayden. BREAK: Danes pushing up off ropes, stumbling, steadying herself, walking with carefully placed steps like a drunk to her stool. Eyes puffing, lower lip fattening nicely...she glances across to her packmates ringside, mouthing the word "help" like it's bitter medicine. Eliza, Mish, Kris up off their seats, pushing aside HISC corner-crew to take command of the fight.
R8: Claire rallies - leaning forward to fit nifty right uppercuts tight to Panny's chin, putting the hook on top, then tying up: Hayden's velocity finally slowed to a crawl. Panettiere pushing her way forward only to be nibbled-and-held: she's chugging into the breadbasket with both hands until ref's breaks. Weary Claire stabilizes her front, but she's looking shopworn; Hayden all busted up on her stool, but looking rejuvenated - when asked what she wants, Hayd answers: "MORE CLAIRE!"
R9: Claire driven into HISC home corner, savaged there: Eliza screaming up from the corner in shrill moral support. Hayden unleashed: she batters Claire, tears at her - practically foaming at the mouth to churn in extra punches. Hayden deploying palm-down straight stampers against Claire's fleshy pecks and ribs - beating the breath from Claire, forcing her to cross wrists at her chest and turn to either side. Hayden putting her head on Claire's chest and digging away palms-up underneath: scooping belly attack has Claire sobbing aloud, sagging forward to execute desperation clinches. It's all too much - relentless waves of Panettiere gradually reducing Claire in the pocket - pelting blows beat Danes to all fours in her corner, face all puffy and bruised as she pants on the spot. Eliza and Mish about 3 feet away, livid, screaming: "GET UP!" Shrill exhortations from pack rivals cuts through the fog, forcing Danes to climb ropes at the bell. During the break, Eliza cupping Claire's face in left hand while burying her face in Claire's right ear, whispering instructions: Danes staring bleak as whatever Dushku's saying sinks in.
R10: Claire dismal, wrecked, shapely legs trembling with hurt: she sets up in HISC corner, showing face-in-gloves as Hayden storms in. Siege of Claire Danes begins...Hayden POUNDING flanks and arms as Claire wilts forward, Danes finally pulling Hayden into breathless clinch for break. Hayden wades back on in: Claire clips her a desperate left uppercut, then covers up to receive a slamming volley of lefts and rights in return. Stop and go pattern results as Claire covers up, takes, issues clinch, gets break...then Hayden wades back in to do more damage. Tough for Claire Danes fans to watch: willowy sorcerous stationary, right there for Hayden, beaten without mercy in her ribs and body until her guard falters, then tattooed by brutal, stubby head punches until clinch. Hayden sobbing for breath, willing herself to finish hated Claire: sturdy legs, astounding glutes working hard to maintain position as Claire dips and rolls ragged in the corner. Dying moments...right uppercut straightens Claire; left hook toggles her sleepy face side to side...her hands drop to her lap as Claire groggily points right shoulder at Hayden, then shifts weight to right leg while pointing left shoulder. Meanwhile, Hayden's pounding hooks into chest and mouth throughout. Bell: Claire weepy, hugging her body as ref pulls Panettiere back...comes back one point duke...Claire Danes!
After: Danes blurting into tears at the announcement: pack members in the ring, clapping solemnly in acknowledgment of a gutty Claire Danes survival-win. Hayden blinking away tears of frustration: battered and confused by Claire early, Panny rallies late and has Danes ready to go, but just can't close the gap. "I battered the bully," Claire mumbles through cracked lips, her eyes beaten near to slits after a brutal contest. "I can barely step weight on my left leg from her low blows inside my hip, but whatever: I wasn't going to let Hayden's fouls and rough-house deny me tonight. This is a good message to send to all the houses great and small: the wolfpack is still your ruler. Those of you who thought Hayden would be enough to sweep us aside have got to rethink. Obviously, it's going to take more than one stubby, over-paid runt to change the status quo around here!" When asked about Eliza's inspirational words going into the tenth, Danes stares coldly at the tractorpull interlocutor. "Inspirational?" Claire says quietly. "She threatened me with consequences for defeat. That's what she does. We're HISC, not Hallmark."
