BOXING AFTER DARK

BEFORE: "Jamie Lynn was a fluke," Gomez insists in prefight. "Luckiest night of her life, but whatever - now I'm just madder and everyone's gonna suffer because of it. Ellen's a little HO: I'll slap her out and get right back on course for Scerbo and Panny!" Paige without the benefit of Selena's extensive amateur career, is she worried? "There's nothing like Disney helping to prep young stars in Canada," Ellen explains, "but there IS 9 months of winter, hockey-playing brothers and polar bears wandering the streets, so I come in naturally tuff! Seriously though - Selena's got oily skills, but I know I've got heart. We get in the corners, and we're gonna find out who's got more of the good stuff!" Ellen in green bikini shot through with diagonal slashes of yellow at irregular intervals; small black gloves. Selena in neon baby blue bikini with bra strap and twist-tie top; small white gloves; tight ponytail.

During R1: Gomez cute - tracing come-along ovals in the air with left hand - occasionally pawing palm-down hooks across Ellen's front. Paige dukes up/elbows in...not as adroit with her feet, but she steps-to strong, always look to plant and get off lusty. Selena frisking Ellen's tits via pesky jabs; cuffing hooks...Gomez left hand technique flashy, if not all that damaging. Midway through, Ellen walks through Selena's pitty-pat to put a stubby right hand firm on chin: Gomez stepping in fence post holes, but shaking her head "No - you didn't hurt me". Final moments inconclusive: Ellen trying to shovel in right hands to Selena's tummy; Gomez flurrying back shoe-shine combos up top to buffett Ellen off balance.

R2: Similar stuff - no question Gomez is quicker, cuter, better schooled, lighter on her feet...but she's slapping and shoe-shining - even from good positions: Ellen's able to cover up, walk-through, and fire back. Gomez a little too cocky at points, taking a picture to admire her flashy flurries...Ellen able to tag Selena clubbing right hands upside the head, moving Gomez off-stance. Hook/right hand late pounds Selena into ropes: she's bobbing on the spot, covered up earmuff as Ellen squares away, beats the body to bell. Tempers flare - Selena accusing Ellen of late punching, pushing the Canadian as ref jumps in.

R3: Selena working with that dangling, loose-limbed left - cuffing Ellen; flicking jabs at her; pestering her. Paige resolute - dukes at temples as she wades in, but Gomez less cooperative this round - nimble little Latina leaning back onto right leg, sliding off to the right as Ellen comes up short on shots. Classy points for Gomez - not a lot of damage, but Paige bottled up midring by Selena's cute skillz.

R4: Ellen exposed as pretty one dimensional at this point - lusty for battle, but basically a walk-in girl. Selena smiling, breezy outside - she's flirting with her left hand - slapping/poking/cuffing, then hopping away, luring Ellen close, then ringing her up righty from the closed stance. Paige gritting her teeth, staying well covered up, but hardly getting off at all; Selena outclassing Ellen, touching her up for points through 4.

R5: Girls trade right hands - blockbuster shot on the chin drops Selena to her right knee, Ellen looming over top until ref pushes her away. Gomez up quickly, but blinking prettily; she's shaken, alarmed at having been bludgeoned down. Selena on her toes thereafter, running for her life: Paige ill-equipped to hunt Selena down, but there's no question which girl's the aggressor through 5.

R6: Ellen hungrily at her foe - ignoring Selena's don't-hurt-me jab to lean in and get off tic-tac-toe to ribcage. Gomez hating it to the body, grimacing, covering up: sturdy ribwork has her stationary, leaning forward behind her mitts. Ellen in there plugging - Selena fitting the Canuck for cute left uppercuts and slapping left hooks behind the elbow, but it's Paige bulling forward, getting her shoulder into punches, moving Selena around. Round ends with Selena butt-in-ropes, hunched forward in earmuff, taking it in the body all hup-hup-hup from Ellen.

R7: Selena discouraged, pouting...she's shying away - waving her left hand at Ellen while trying to keep distance. Paige pressing the attack - thrusting in her left jab to Selena's body on the first step in, then roaring over the top righty, bashing at Gomez' skull. Selena crying out, scampering back...even when not clipped cleanly, she's baling, panicking. Gomez bouncing off all the ropes, trading space for time: Ellen breaking into a jog at times to track Selena down. Final minute, Ellen stepping close, whacking a pair of right hands into Selena's tummy - she's got Gomez stricken, standing her ground. Trade in angry lefts and rights sees Selena belted upside her head from both sides...knees giving way as she stumbles sideways and GOES TO ALL FOURS! Ellen seething, looming over top Selena until ref pushes her back: Gomez blubbering, trying to rally. Weepy 8, Selena G: ON COMES PAIGE! Ellen hopping-to in her stance - sweeping a right to the body and a left that skids across top of Selena's scalp. Gomez in hysterics - sobbing aloud, covering up earmuff...she's a helpless vixen, sitting in ropes and taking a pasting. Ref steps in as Selena's piteous wailing sounds like quit: TKO7 - Ellen Paige.

After: Gomez FURIOUS with the official - stamping her little foot - arms rigid at her sides as she shrieks up at the fool for stopping the fight early...but what else could he do? Paige the upset winner - raw canuck largely written off by the boxing establishment, but showing typical maple-leaf sturdiness in pounding Gomez into compliance. "I'm thrilled," Ellen admits - looking forward to a potential A-list ingenue tilt against Emma Watson. "Selena's a good boxer, but I knew she was a little soft...I just refused to be discouraged by her antics. You know, my dream is to one day face Natalie Portman for the flyweight championship, but I know I've got a lot of work to do before then. Job one is to get Emma beat: I've got to separate myself from the other young movie star in this pack!"
