BEFORE: Bjorlin huffy with Katrina in prefight - shoving matches/dangerous standoffs bespeaking the pressure Nadia's feeling from the newcomer. "Law needs to learn her place," Bjorlin insists. "Just because she's 'flavour of the month' with management doesn't cut her any slack in the locker-room. I'm glad I'm getting the chance to sort her out, because Katrina Law needs a beating to put her ego in check. Maybe if she works hard, fights the fights we need her to, she could be a good mid-card talent in a year or two. Anything more than that is delusional!"

Law scowling: she's definitely getting more heat from Nadia than from any other girl in the stable: this fight is for respect. "I'm surprised at Nadia," Katrina says at podium. "She's been where I am - she knows how hard it is to get noticed and be taken seriously - but all she's done is try to undermine me at every turn. SHE'S the one needs a beating: if she thinks I'm just going to bow my head every time she walks into a room, she doesn't understand what it's like to be a competitor. I see Nadia Bjorlin and my only thought is 'who's better - me or her?' I'm not thinking about her pedigree or seniority, and if she wants to change that, she's more than welcome to try!"

Gold bra-style bikini; black gloves for Nadia (tangle-curled hair loose). leopard print bikini; black gloves for Katrina - hair back in the Roman style with long strands bracketing face.

During R1: Hard punching from medium range - both girls loading up, swinging to end it early. Both using a good stiff pre-emptive jab to disrupt the other, but neither able to set up subsequent attacks with it. Grazing contact only as bobbing torsos make for elusive heads: thickest contact is a thudding right hand Katrina's able to bury in Nadia's ribs during one engagement. Bell: chests heaving, eyes blazing - both fighters realize they need to calm themselves, be a bit more measured with the offence.

R2: Punishing toe-to-toe sequences characterized by Katrina giving ground punching; Nadia coming forward, pressing the pace. Girls with dukes up - weaving torsos side to side - each finding the other with the jab to opposing guard, then pounding away right/left combos. Law stitching punches cleverly between Nadia's mitts, scoring to Bjorlin's face: Nadia bashing away to flanks/lats, working her way up-torso to clobber Law's ears. Nadia's aggression, weight-of-shot decisive: Law doing well to keep her back clear of ropes this round.

R3: Nadia weaving forward - stubby punching straight lefts or rights to Law's gaurd - backing her up. Nadia to Law's body with thick, batting rights or lefts in under the elbows: Katrina grimacing behind her mitts, unable to answer immediately. Bjorlin pressurizes Law to ropes - owns her there for the latter half of the round. Nadia gets big - using left shoulder/extended left elbow to push Katrina into cables, then deploying both hands in thumping sequences. Kat earmuffed up, stooping forward off ropes, sponging a bad beat, but trusting curvy legs to hold her up. Down the stretch, Nadia fits a vicious left hook in under elbows; doubles it into a left uppercut that drapes a stunned Katrina Law blinking and helpless on ropes then DROPS HER TO ALL FOURS! Bell: Nadia smirking with satisfaction as Katrina's visibly shaken.

R4: Fighting retreat Katrina: she's snarling, drilling straight one-twos/stubby left uppercuts/choppy overhand rights while backing away from Nadia's hamhanded assault. Bjorlin baring teeth, batting either hand wide to Katrina's thick waist; coming up top with clouting head wallops. Law able to convert the fighting retreat into a general counter-offensive in final minute - moving forward on the strength of a series of well-placed hooks in under Nadia's defensive elbows. Just at the bell, Katrina salts away with the round with a chopping right/clubbing left scoring sequence against Nadia's heaving rack. Bjorlin breathing hard, angered - ref bodies her back as Law makes her point.

R5: Katrina forward now - triggering a short, pulverizing right up the middle, following with a stiff straight left/stubby right uppercut routine. Bjorlin on her heels - weaving side to side but getting tracked: she's taking a lot of flush face-punches. Law walking Nadia down - not much back from Bjorlin as Nadia alternates between crossed-arm and earmuff. Peppering assault eventually drives Nadia to ropes: Law squaring away, staying busy - she's answering Nadia's booming power with suppressive volume. Bjorlin wretched, beaten at ropes: Law pounding her foe's arms/pecs - working both sides of the paunch/waist - ringing short uppercuts off chin and pummeling those jugs whenever Nadia's loosened up enough to allow access. Comprehensive stuff from Law: Nadia wobbly butt, but curvy legs hold her up under sheets of KLaw punches.

R6: Nadia ever-forward - weaving her way in close; flashing murderous right/lefts across waist or jugline - using raised elbows or shoulders to push off after. Fighting retreat for Katrina - bouncing bursts of lefts and rights off Nadia's prepared defences, then covering up quick to receive Bjorlin's next salvo. Clobbering wallop about the ears/shoulders has Law stumbling around in crossed-arm stance: Nadia able to overpower her foe, move her off-stance through 6.

R7: HAMMER AND TONGS! Girls dig in, put forehead on forehead and get after it brawny. Vicious, whacking stuff - murderous punches delivered to ribs/waistlines - girls twisting and dipping side to side to generate fight-winning leverage. Law putting tidy punches together on Nadia's face, busting her up: Bjorlin relying on swift, clobbering blows to temples/ears/jawlines to stagger her foe. Girls will fall in and muscle each other around, but neither tying up: both girls want enough room to get off with body-weight behind every lick. Torrid, bashing stuff eventually goes Nadia's way as she shakes Katrina up that thudding hook in the waist, followed by the doubled-up left uppercut to chin. Law stunned, stumbling away on her heels: bell sounds before charging Nadia can apply the finishing touch!

R8: Fighting retreat by Katrina rarely seen amongst welterweights: she's leaning weight onto front (left) leg - getting off short, crisp combinations - sliding back in stance while bobbing her head...it's a nasty puzzle for aggressive Bjorlin. Katrina able to convert active retreat into generalized offensive after a minute of grinding down Nadia's attack: Law moving forward with a sickening long left hook parking in behind Bjorlin's right elbow. Nadia's golden-brown beef bunching up, cringing under the work: Law fitting in gruesome digs to either flank, working ribs/lats thick. Final minute - Law in close, greedily helping herself to Nadia's jugs via shrugging hup-hup: Bjorlin stiffens at apron, slugging back HARD to ribs and jawlines, bludgeoning Law off balance and avoiding the shutout. Bell: seething beauties chest up, snarling nose to nose - ref has to push big girls apart as tempers flare. Crowd on it's feet for welterweights putting out bantamweight work rates tonight. During the break, after Katrina gets water, she mumbles: "Is her face worse than mine?" Trainer answers: "Hell yes, baby - you're leavin' your mark!"

R9: Girls falling in...Nadia clipping Katrina a short hook across the brow, followed by plenty of elbow...delayed effect buckles Law's knees, leads to fight's first true clinch. Ref's break...Katrina distressed, hurt...she's backpedalling, check-jabbing furiously to slow Nadia's headlong pursuit. Bjorlin relentless up the middle - sight of Katrina's wobbling thighs and forlorn eyes adding fuel to Nadia's fire. Law nothing short of brilliant in retreat: jab; short right; stubby left uppercut; pivot...Nadia's momentum steadily grinding down on Katrina's pinpoint punches! By the bell, Nadia's not hurt, but she's visibly frustrated - unable to close and destroy ramshackle Katrina through 9!

R10: Nadia solves the puzzle with one ingredient: MORE NADIA! Same bull-rush attack up the middle - hands strapping wide to flanks; clubbing ears; then shrugging uppercuts when girls are in tight. LAW'S WOBBLY BUTT! Katrina FINALLY breaking down...mouth open, eyes half shut...Nadia's pursuit more effective as Law's pre-emptive punches start to push, then stop coming all together. Crowd moaning as Nadia catches Kat a swinging left wide to the gut as Law's trying to move to her right: shout of exhausted pain, Law...she stumbles backward into ropes glassy-eyed, taking a knee before Nadia can wade in. "GET UP!" Bjorlin shouts as ref's pushing her back: Katrina does just that, climbing ropes, gathering herself for a swooning 8. ON COMES NADIA! Bjorlin unleashed - punches flooding in past Law's weary defences at belly/breasts/pecs take a fearsome pounding, slumping Katrina destitute, helpless in ropes. Bjorlin seething - bouncing both hands off Katrina's head...Law's skull lolling and snapping about all loose and THE REF STEPS IN! Bjorlin bellowing in triumph as official cradles brave Katrina Law to the safety of TKO10 defeat!

After: Bjorlin pounding her chest - face beaten all puffy and sore by Katrina's determined fists tonight: Bonzo veteran welcomes rookie to the FCBA in brutal style. "Look, she brought it tonight - I won't deny that," Nadia grudgingly admits in postfight. "But she caught it too, and that's the main thing. Everybody made a big deal about her fast hands coming in, but my hands are fast AND heavy...she couldn't compete with that. Can Katrina fight? Yes she can. Is Katrina on a par with Nadia Bjorlin? No she's not. That's her take-away from this fight!"
