Looking to get her team back in this match is the BBU flyweight champion, undefeated Dannielle Brent, who sneers pre-fight, “Emilie’s been around FCBA for ages, but with poor results, so watch me level this match up pretty damn quick!” Australian Emilie sneers back, “Thing is, this tramp hasn’t fought anyone worth a shit, so I’m just ready to beat the pom senseless!”

Round 1

The two blondes both start warily, the taller Danni getting some early blows in at Emilie’s head, but the shorter girl is unfazed, and she goes hunting for the Brit’s body, finds it too, her wide left and right hooks meting out punishment, Brent holding on, taking a breather, then hitting Emilie around the mouth with a couple of good jabs, putting the younger girl on the ropes, then unloading with both fists – lots of aggression, but most punches are blocked, and the bell gives the girls a chance to recover.

Close start, Danielle takes it, though.

Round 2

Still neither girl able to dominate the other, with the taller Danni still picking Emilie off as the Aussie has to stay constantly in range if she is to land those bodyshots. She needs to defend herself now though, with Danni’s jabs beginning to land more in her face than on her arms, and her cheeks are reddening as she covers up on the ropes. The only way from here is to fight her way out, and Emilie, taking some crisp headshots, but she does manage to land to the Brit’s gut, which makes her back off a bit, choosing to box de Ravin from range for the rest of the round.

Danielle takes the round again.

Round 3

Emilie starts the quicker this time around, getting inside Danni’s reach, ripping some good, wide hooks into her slender body, and the little gasps from the Brit’s lips let the Aussie know she has hurt her. Backing Brent into a corner, Emilie rips into her body, forcing the BBU champion’s guard down, but she isn’t quick enough to get to Danni’s face with any decent punches, and the taller girl escapes, clipping Em with a couple of left jabs as she skips clear. Angry, Emilie moves in again, but is careless, and takes a thudding left to her mouth, and a crisp right to her ear before she can cover up, still game enough to hit Danni’s body as the round closes.

Emilie gets a round back.

Round 4

Dannielle has been slowed by Emilie’s efforts, but she is quicker to respond to the bell, and has that left jab pumping into the shorter girl’s face again, and now it’s Emilie’s turn to look to clinch, holding Danni’s arms tight to her sides. The ref parts the girls, but crafty Em hasn’t fully retreated, and she is inside The Brit’s reach, hitting her round the flanks again, the taller girl looking confused before pumping a short-arm uppercut into the Aussie’s jaw which brings her up short, then moving her around the ring, jabbing and moving all the time, bossing the round.

Dannielle back on top, taking the round.

Round 5

Keeping her distance, Danni gets her left jab smacking into Em’s face in the first few seconds of the fifth, and those red cheeks are beginning to turn into bruises. The Aussie is being outboxed, but she’s bravely still looking to get inside Danni’s long reach, taking two, even three punches to her face to land every punch to the Brit’s gut and ribs, but she is landing enough to slow the taller girl, and those long arms are dropping – Em’s punches hurt! Danni backs off slightly, and Emilie gets inside again, still trying to get those bodyshots in, but Brent picks her off again with left jabs, and the Aussie has blood dribbling from her nose as another punishing round ends.

Danni takes round 5, and that puts her 3 points ahead.

Round 6

Solid start by Dannielle again, jolting Emilie’s head back with her accurate jab, the shorter girl looking tired, less willing to get up close now, because each time she tries, the Brit thumps her face. The round wears on, Danni working her girl around the ring, dominating her, and she has her on the ropes – Emilie needs to get out of there, with the taller girl starting to loosen up, and the Aussie turns her! Lovely move, dropping the shoulder, then crashing right hooks, one, two, three into Brent’s midriff – she’s hurt – a good left to the older girl’s belly, left to the mouth, right to the cheek, left to the mouth, and another, right hook, and Dannielle Brent is down, shocked to the core and up at 6, but still shaky as Emilie pours into her, thudding a right hook into her mouth again, hurting her to the body, but the Samurai girl survives.

Emilie’s round, and the knockdown gets her back within a point.

Round 7

Both girls are tired, but it’s a revived Emilie de Ravin who takes the initiative, trapping Danni on the ropes and landing solid hooks to her ribs and gut, softening her up for another barrage perhaps? Dannielle gets off the ropes but she can’t escape the Aussie, who keeps hitting her body however hard she tries – she gets her to the midriff again, and that has her stationary, then gets a right hook across the taller girls jaw, and her knees are going, Em follows in, looking for the knockdown, but Brent holds her down, wasting time, looking to wear the younger girl out. The ref pulls the pair apart, then Emilie steps inside to throw a big left, and she gets Danni’s ribs, muscles her into the ropes, then pumps her left into the Brit’s mouth, stuns her with a right to the temple, then, with a straight left she has the unbeaten blonde sliding down the ropes, her ass on the canvas for a second time. The bell sounds as the count reaches 4, but the ref continues, with a struggling Dannielle Brent on her feet at 8.

Emilie takes the seventh, another 2 point margin, and she’s in front.

Round 8

Blowing hard, Emilie starts again, stepping inside Danni’s jab, clubbing her to the body, but the taller girl has some energy left, and she drifts away from the Aussie, who looks flat-footed by comparison, and this is allowing the Samurai girl to recover. Em moves in again, but she’s getting careless, and those sharp left jabs are doing their job on her swelling features – she gets caught with a right cross, and she’s holding onto Danni, taking a breather herself, her nose bleeding more freely. Brent pushes Emilie back, hits her with another right to the face, then peppers her body, putting her in a corner and hurting her before the round ends.

Danni’s round – they’re even!

Round 9

Somehow Emilie finds the resolve and strength to launch another attack on Dannielle’s aching body, and the taller girl is gasping in pain as those hooks thud into her ribs – she drops her guard, allowing the Aussie to glimpse an unprotected face, but as the She Devil looks to take her chance, she gets caught with Danni’s left hook to her cheek, takes another to the gut, then drops to her knees after the Brit clubs her ear with a right hander, taking a count of 7. Back on her feet, but shaky on her legs, Emilie tries to protect herself against Danni’s next attack, the taller girl sensing victory and landing two good shots to the smaller girl’s face, hurts her with a left to the belly, and there’s that big right again, splitting the little Aussie’s lips open as it floors her for a second time, but she won’t stay down, and she’s back on her feet at 8. Shaking her head in wonder, Danni moves in to finish Emilie off, but time’s up – that’s the end of the ninth!

Danni takes the round – two knockdowns, so that’s a 3 point lead going into the last.

Round 10

Battered, bruised and exhausted, the girls are soon at each other again, Emilie dragging herself forwards to land punches to Dannielle’s body, the taller girl struggling to keep her at arm’s length, and the both hold on, parted by the ref. Once they have been broken, Brent is jabbing Emilie again, not with her usual venom, but enough to discourage the Aussie from getting in close – she gets her with a right to the mouth, and Emilie staggers, bouncing into the ropes, covering up, but being hit to the ear, to the cheek, to the mouth again, and she hits the floor, a kind of slow crumble, and she bravely and deservedly beats the count at 9. There’s very little time left in the round, but Danni does not have the energy to finish Emilie off, and the bell ends the fight.

Dannielle Brent beat Emilie de Ravin on points, to square the match at 2 – 2.

The girls are shattered, and the interviews are brief, with Dannielle panting, “Good fight! All set up for Frankie to win this for the samurai now.” Emilie just mutters, “Gave her too much of a start – coulda won that!”
