BEFORE: Ledoyen's been away for a while - doesn't like what she sees these days. "Penelope Cruz acting like she owns the whole sport?" Virginie says in prefight, incredulous. "Elodie Frege allowed to fight without paying me a tithe? It seems that the firm hand of Virginie is needed now more than ever!" Perabo less than impressed...she's been active lately, and hoping that activity will help her get past her heavily-credentialed foe. "Virginie's got a lot of fights under her belt," Piper admits, "but I can't be choosy. She's a pretty brunette and she's looking tussle: I had to leap at that open contract while it was there!" Ledoyen in classy lavender bikini; hair in loose brown curls; small black gloves. Piper in white sport bra; red/white floral print bikini bottoms; small white gloves; hair in loose blonde tangles. Perabo alarmed when Virginie leans in to air-kiss both cheeks - Ledoyen's eyes sparkling to see American rattled early.

During R1: Virginie in wide stance - jabbing the body; hooking the breasts, pivoting-clockwise. Piper hands up/elbows in - she's bobbing smartly, turning-with: a brace of Perabo hooks on the right shoulder/pec spooks Virginie chasing her out of range. Ledoyen circling, regrouping: she penetrates with a flurry of slap-chop rights and scrubbing hooks...blonde girl crouches down to receive the abuse in good defensive order, then hooking back for all she's worth. Pleasing hammer and tongs: Virginie dis-engaging to circle again...Piper grinning confidently, having weathered Ledoyen's early storms.

R2: Similar action - Ledoyen looser, more limber in her stance, lashing and hacking away in spots. Piper crouching down, keeping her guard intact...blonde girl blocking well, but missing the receipts as Virginie gets off/gets gone in leggy fashion.

R3: Virginie starting Piper out with the tummy jab...sliding back half a step to create a gap: blonde girl steps in to issue hook-receipt only to be hooked in her mouth by crafty Virginie instead. Ledoyen sliding around, looking pretty sharp considering the layoff: she's well in charge when Perabo finally penetrates, hooking tummy/jugs/tummy/jugs to scatter Virginie ropeside. Piper bobbing - hands close about her chin - she batters Virginie with a sudden brace of short, clubbing, tidy lefts and rights - beating French girl about her head and shoulders. Ledoyen clinches, but she's wide-eyed with hurt: Piper showing compact power in stealing a Ledoyen third late.

R4: Ledoyen trying to discourage Piper's stalking pursuit - French girl steps in strong, fitting left uppercut to blonde chin as Perabo's crouching down. Piper munches it, answers back hooking: Ledoyen slugged out of her stance, forced to range to her left as Perabo crouches forward. That's the way of it - Ledoyen unable to slug for respect as Piper bashes her way through the exchanges...French girl trusting supple legs to get her out of trouble whenever Perabo's getting the best of it inside.

R5: Ledoyen circling, nibbling - French jab sticking to stocky blonde abs or sorting out blonde tits: Piper slugging back, coming up short as Virginie sneaks away in the nick.

R6: Ledoyen doubling the jab, keeping Piper covered up; hooking Piper's right ear while pivoting-round Piper's right flank: smooth French moves perplex brawny blonde slugger early. Perabo patiently cutting down the ring - weaving her way closer...closer...eventually she's able to slip Virginie's jab; answer-back the clouting hook from the crouch and LEDOYEN'S ROCKED! Virginie badly chin-checked, stepping in fence post holes...French legs all trembly and loose as Virginie reaches for Piper's head/shoulders. Blonde girl able to stuff a few thumping left/rights into Virginie's abs before ref's break: Ledoyen mouth-breathing, disheveled, really starting to feel Piper's tenacity through 6.

R7,8: Steady, constant Perabo pursuit: increasing ragged retreats from a slugged-and-harrassed Virginie Ledoyen. Ledoyen always combative when trapped, trading her left uppercut to Piper's chin for clubbing lefts and rights from Perabo. Blonde girl generally hammering brunette into ropes in these exchanges, prompting French clinches. Virginie busting up, fighting on pride: brunette legs repeatedly buckled whenever Perabo's able to deliver hooks from good positions. Through 8 - Ledoyen badly worn down, but defiant: she's won a lot of hard fights down the stretch.

R9: Ledoyen setting up defiant pockets all along the ropes: relentless Piper sieges designed to reduce brunette in-situ. Virginie stooped forward butt-in-ropes for the most part, fists at temples as she waits her turn to dig at Piper's stocky midsection or try her chin. Perabo working Ledoyen over now - bumpin'-and-sluggin' like a little champ - punishing French ribs, then clouting Ledoyen about the temples. Bell: Piper breathing hard, but happy in her work - she pushes up off Ledoyen all big-girl as Virginie sags in ropes.

R10: Piper just setting her pace, she'll take the KO if it comes, but she's not forcing it. Ledoyen badly reduced - chased down to various positions along the ropes, whereupon she forms pocket and trades at a deficit. Very brave, combative stuff from Virginie, but OH, the price she's paying in her ribs as Piper hurls in the harm. Bell: Piper pushes up off her foe all fresh and sweaty - comes back UD10 Piper Perabo.

After: Welcome-back-to-the-FCBA beatdown for legendary Ledoyen: she's subdued, impassive as Piper's hand is raised. Perabo with a quick hug of her battered foe en-route to the interview...blonde girl positively gleaming with the friendliest grin in sports. "Good tough fight - just what I expected," Perabo says in postfight. "Once I got her running, I kind of felt I had it, but Virginie was very stubborn. A lot of girls would've quit under the body-pounding I was giving Virginie, but she proved she's still got heart. I can only imagine what it must have been like to compete against her in her prime!"
