"She's an x-factor fighter," Rachel says of Julie in prefight. "She's caught a lot of us off guard, but the fact is Julie Benz is a very polished pro who knows how to fight within her own limitations. You don't see Julie making dumb choices or getting impatient in fights: she plays the percentages and gets girls beat - even girls who maybe she SHOULDN'T get beat. There's been some talk that Julie wants to add me to her little Kate Beckinsale statuette, and that's been motivational to me. I respect her, but I think there's an elite group in this division, and a group of good fighters beneath that, and I feel that second group is where Julie belongs!" Benz cordial, cool in rebuttal. "Rachel's earned a high opinion of herself," Julie admits, "but I feel like I can compete with anyone who doesn't have overwhelming physical advantages over me. Well, Rachel doesn't overmatch me in any department, so yes: I like my chances!" Rachel in command thereafter, stalking hurt-but-alert blonde as Benz circles the perimeter.

R3: Julie trails a broken wing - feigning 'quit' to lure Rachel to ropes, then suddenly chopping her a swift right hand to chin! Rachel's back (right) knee buckles: she's shunted to her right/dropped to all fours for a flash knockdown! Rachel up quick, but blinking rapidly: definitely hurt - Julie watching intently from neutral corner. Resume: Benz quickly across the ring, then jabbing Rachel to ropes - blonde girl forcing auburn vixen into peek-a-boo before applying punishment. Off the jab up top, Benz rips right/left to body...pauses a beat...rips the hesitation right uppercut timed to catch Rachel loading up to answer. Midway through, one of those hesi-rights clips Rachel bingo on the chin: MacAdams suddenly distressed - there go her legs...Rachel sinks to all fours as Julie skips aside shouting: "YES!" RMac beats the count, but glassy-eyed: gutty redhead digs in, earmuffs up, takes a steady thrashing to bell as Julie stands-and-delivers.

R4: Julie on the attack, cutting off the ring, jabbing head and body, constantly working at Rachel, walking her down. MacAdams organized, issuing a fighting retreat: she's stepping back, drilling Julie straight lefts and rights to face, and even finishing up hook-on-jug on occasion. Down the stretch, Benz continuing to mount her attacks despite Rachel's stubborn resistance: MacAdams pre-empts Julie via sudden left/right/left up top, buckling Benzie's knees! Julie withdraws, scowling: Rachel stabilizes her front with typical grit and poise.

R5: Same as the first - girls circling clockwise around brisk left hooks and spitting jabs - both fighters keeping right hands at cheeks while featuring the left mitt. When they realize it's close late - fighters step-in close, lap it up underneath: tasty, spanking hup-hup-hup as shoulders rotate, fists churn for a crowd-pleasing finish. Minka Kelly so excited ringside, she's hopping on the spot, perky jugs a-jumpin', hands a-clappin', shouting: "GO RACHEL!"

R6: Same again - girls springy legged, circling rather than running, emphasizing the left hand while keeping the right hand high and tight. Benz tearing up Rachel's tummy via batting hooks - gorgeous stuff here as Julie pivots-clockwise around her left foot. Rachel answering via swiping hooks to jug: Rache making a deliberate effort to get into Julie's rack here.

R7: Another blistering, quick-mitted round - girls circling the may-pole and scouring each other raw. Both girls distributing punches up and down the other's chassis, but Rachel in particular really committing to Julie's rack. Nice double-hook scoring on jug for Rache, and choppy right hands really clubbing those puppies in close, winning breathy little gasps from Julie.

R8: Rachel working; Julie working...girls just bringing their hard hats and lunch pails to the ring tonight. Tight clockwise orbit - girls viciously at each other via batting left hooks; jagged left uppercuts; frisky-spitting left jabs in twos and threes. When one pushes forward, the other executes an able fighting-retreat - making it very difficult for either to roll the other up. Julie's punching DOES discourage Rachel's rack-incursions this round: punch-stat numbers reveal a big drop off in connects to Julie's jugs through 8. Bell: glaring eye-contact made - girls know that almost every minute has been a hard-fought battle tonight.

R9: More of this simple, high quality fare: girls refusing to scrimp on punches as each works like hell to out-touch the other. Toe-to-toe hooking action vicious and competitive...the difference is Julie's clever withdrawals and fighting retreats, walking Rachel into punishing face-scrub. MacAdams takes it well - generally fighting her way back to toe-to-toe stations...but Benz is getting the extra touches in a hot-tossing ninth.

R10: Trainer tells Rachel:; "We need this round Rache - big!" MacAdams out steely-eyed to comply. Julie outfought in a blistering opening exchange: blonde girl withdrawing while spitting straight jabs: Rachel savagely to the attack - triggering lead right hands in pursuit. Benz face-punched off balance: she's knocked ropeside - forced into peek-a-boo as Rachel squares away. Siege of Julie Benz commences: Rachel bumpin' and a-sluggin' - using her left shoulder/chickenwing left elbow to control Julie while working the body. JUG! Rachel hup-hup-hup up into Julie's rack: Benz momentarily overwhelmed, forced to clinch mouth-open on Rachel's shoulder for ref's break. MacAdams quickly back at Julie - belting her rich, thick right/left strokes across the waistline: Benz has to cover up, ride this thing out as Rachel dominates the tenth. Comes back UD10...Julie Benz!

After: 5 rounds a piece, but two knockdowns to one in favour of Benz gives her the duke. Prefunctory hug and air-kiss between the toe: Rachel clearly rattled at Julie's brazen handling of one of the best technical boxers in the sport...it's something Rachel will need time to accept. "Kate and Rachel," Julie smiles, shrugging her shoulders all happy-girl: clearly she's bottling up the glee she's feeling. "Those are great fighters, but I think I've shown that I can be great too - definitely in their class. I'm not the strongest girl out here, not the fastest...but I know my angles, and I make my reads as well as anyone. I know it's come kinda late in my career, but I have to thank Ginny for picking up my contract. All I ever needed was the chance to shine, and she's more than given that to me!"
