A first matchup between members of two of the UK’s best known girlbands now, with the Saturday’s Irish cracker Una taking on Girls Aloud’s redhead Nicola Roberts.

Nicola is the only one of her band not to have fought yet, and is glad to be getting in the ring against a girl she has come to despise, “Who the #### to The Saturdays think they are? Challenging us? Healy’s gonna suffer! b###h!” Una just sneers, “Ah, cage rattled, I think! And now the monkey’s jumping around! Ginger top – you’re going down!”

Both girls have super bodies, and the audience is excited when Nicola enter the ring in a black bikini, followed by Una in a shimmering gold bra and panties set.

Round 1

Una launches the first attack, after the girls have stalked for a few seconds, and her unorthodox right lead immediately confuses Nicola as she pumps it into her waiting face, and the redhead is moving backwards, her defensive retaliation not registering with the Irish girl, who soon traps her prey on the ropes, bumping her head back with more right jabs, keeping her prized left hook in reserve for now, but using her left hand on the Roberts body instead, and she is irritated when the girl escapes the ropes, wrapping her arms round Una’s neck, holding, and having to be dragged off by the ref. After the break, Nicola boxes well, trying to stay on her toes, jabbing and moving, while a smiling Una occupies the centre of the ring, letting her opponent tire herself out.

First round – Una Healy.

Round 2

Breathing deeply, Nicola starts the round well, very much on her toes, flitting around the ring, trying not to get into a brawl, while Una just lets her, contenting herself with landing her right jab every time the redhead gets in range, waiting for her to use her energy. Midway through the round, and Nicola gets to Una, for the first time throwing left jab, right cross combination, which is fine except it means she stays closer to the Irish girl for longer than is safe, and Una bangs that right jab into her mouth – on, two, three – then clubs her to the body with her powerful left, a bodyshot with her right, then she throws that left hook to the English girl’s head, connecting with her right on the cheekbone, and it stuns Roberts, who drifts into the ropes. Una uses her speed to press home this advantage, her right jab a blur as she bats it into Nicola’s face again and again, left weakening her resolve as it thuds into her body – now the left to the head again, ooh! Right in the mouth! Roberts goes down, all arms and legs, very ungainly. Nic’s on her feet at 8, but not looking good, and Una returns to punish her with a pummelling attack to her body, which is only halted by the bell.

Round 3

Encouraged by her bandmates, Una takes the fight to Nicola, softening her up some more with a few good digs to that body, then, working her round the ring, popping right jabs into her bruised face – she’s setting her up! Una looks at the battered English girl, then just whips a savage lefthand punch from her hip, up and across, and kind of half-uppercut, half-hook, and that’s the end of Nicola’s ring debut, as the girl lands up on her back, unconscious.

Afterwards, crowing with pride, Una announces, “Beating redheads is such fun! Where’s Amy Nuttall? C’mon Nuttall – put your title on the line!” The redheaded actress/singer is indeed amongst the audience, stands up and shouts, “You’re on!”
