BBU Bantamweight Title

Now comes Una’s challenge for Amy’s title. Both girls are unbeaten, but 28 year old redhead Amy is more experienced than her 29 year old Irish challenger, and is well built for her role here – Una has a couple of inches height on the champ, and is expecting that to be an advantage. Both girls are southpaw, which may represent a challenge to each of them. This fight could be a close one, but it’s hard to bet against Amy.

Una’s in the ring first – lovely in a dark blue bra and pants set, then in comes Amy, looking good in a red halter neck and hotpants outfit. The girls are both ready – that’s obvious from their faces!

Round 1

Cautious start from both girls, with Amy keeping guard high, expecting Una to be the aggressor, and the Irish girl soon is, planting two, three right jabs in Amy’s face, staying on her toes, keeping out of range, then jabbing the redhead again, before being worked into the ropes where she has to cover up as Amy seeks out her trim body, the singer keeping her elbows in, and having enough to pick the shorter girl off with a neat left, right before the bell.

Close round – Una had just the better of it.

Round 2

Una seems to be calling the shots early in the second, keeping Amy away from her with that stiff right jab from distance, and this isn’t suiting the champ, who is looking to fight the singer from close quarters. Una’s pap, papping jab is grazing Amy’s face up a bit already, then she lands a good left cross to the actress’s mouth, and that has the girl dropping back to the ropes, the singer following in nicely to land a good left to the body, but she’s then hit to the body herself – nice combo from Amy – made to backpedal, and nodding, knowing she made a mistake there. Round closes with Una rocking Amy with a solid straight left to the mouth, the champ happy to hold on to the end.

Una again – 2 up.

Round 3

Still Una boxing beautifully, her long jabs thudding into Amy’s reddening face, but the champ has good ringcraft, and she closes the Irish girl to the ropes, hurts her with a solid right hook to the gut, now gets her own punching going, landing little spurts of three or four to Healy’s body, wearing the girl down, then she’s inside that reach, landing her own, hard, dazing jabs to the singer’s face, and Una is leaning back - belly an easy target, and gets thumped, Una gasps then takes some more punishment to the body before the bell gives her respite.

That’s Amy’s round.

Round 4

Amy more aggressive from the bell this time, knowing she can hurt Una, and she’s soon landing good shots to the singer’s body, trying to soften her up a little more, working the challenger around the ring neatly, but Una still catches Amy with those jabs, and the champ needs to be careful now – she’s hurting the singer, but at a cost, because those head punches are bruising her face up. Amy gets Una on the ropes again, lands a left hook to her cheek, then another, and the singer is sliding along the ropes, hits the corner, then gets loosened up with a right to the mouth before fighting back by digging a good left into Amy’s midriff, the champ stepping back half a yard, and hurt by right jabs before the bell.

Tight round – maybe Amy to pull level.

Round 5

Amy’s corner has worked on her cheeks between rounds, but Una still targets her right jab neatly, bumping solid shots into her left cheek, catching her round the ear with her right hook, and it’s Amy holding on midround, arm round the taller girls’ shoulder, trying to work her body over in close. The ref parts the girls, warning Amy, and Una looks annoyed, gets her right jab really working as they get back together, and she has Amy hurt and retreating, clubs the girl with a follow up left hook this time, then, with Amy stunned on the ropes, the Irish girl blazes away at the actress’s body, a couple of hooks from either hand, following up with neat work to the champs boobs, making her yelp with a few short, sharp uppercuts. Amy fights back as best she can, but gets staggered again with a left to the jaw before the round ends.

Una gets that round.

Round 6

Una comes out for the sixth looking confident, and it is she who lands the first punches again, her right jab is now much faster than Amy’s as the actress begins to tire, and she seems to be having difficulty focusing as that cheek is starting to close her eye. Una gets in close again, moves Amy into the ropes, looking for her body, but this is where the champ is strong, and she gets the better of a tradeoff of bodyshots, forcing Una back, and now she pummels the singer to the ribs. Healy stands her ground in midring, gritting her teeth as Amy’s hurtful bodyblows land, but the champ is vulnerable, and she pumps her right into the girl’s face, straight, hard and punishing, whips a left across her jaw, which seems to turn that bruised face round perfectly to be met with a swinging left hand, and that’s what puts Amy down. The champ is dazed on the canvas, gets to her haunches at 7, raises herself up, but her legs can’t hold her! Amy drops to her knees, eyes glazed as she is counted out – her title has gone!

Una Healy knocked Amy Nuttall out in round 6, to become the new BBU bantamweight champion.

After checking that Amy is OK, Una tells reporter Denise van Outen, “I told everyone I would beat her, and I did! She’s a great fighter, but I’m just so much better, and I just can’t wait to beat up Lyndsy Fonseca! Can’t wait!”
