PRETTY LITTLE LIARS IN THE UK 1
(Site: Manchester, Eng. U.K.)
This could be a great fight between two girls who are here to box, not to trade insults or kiss each other’s butts.
Irish girl Una is fresh from winning the BBU bantamweight title, and is rightfully confident, but she needs to beware of Lyndsy who is a good, hard puncher.
The girls enter the ring from opposite sides, Una’s shapely body clad in a pale blue onepiece, Lyndseys in a black outfit.
The girls meet mid-ring and actually touch gloves – very Marquess of Queensberry!
Round 1
The girls continue to show respect for each other as the round begins, neither looking as though they want to make the first big move, each of them poking out stabbing left leads, hitting face, but not too hard. How long will this continue – they have to get to it! And Lyndsey takes the initiative at last with time running out, banging some good left hooks into Una’s body to start with, then tagging her jaw with a right, getting her on the ropes, and she hurts the Irish girl with a three punch combo just before the bell.
Lyndsey takes the first – Una did nothing!
Round 2
It’s Lyndsy again here, dominating Una early on, using her powerful bodyshots to keep the redhead defending, moving her onto the ropes again, and hurting her again – Una is gasping as those shots rain into her gut and ribs, and she needs to get out of there quick. Taking deep breaths, Una thuds her left jabs into Lyndsy’s eager face, then gets a right hand into the brunette’s body which sends her backwards, Una following her across the ring, getting some good shots into the American’s head, landing mainly to the ears , but it’s all Una at the bell, with Fonseca tucked up.
Una equalises.
Round 3
Una resumes the fight in control, those left jabs doing a good job of reddening Lyndsy’s face, the skin around her right eye looking very grazed and sore already, and Healy lands a lovely right hook to Fonseca’s jaw mid-round – that stunned her – and the American is on the ropes with Una closing in quickly, looking to get her some more. But Una is still a little naive at this level, and gets in too close to Lyndsy, who gets back at her with booming bodyshots, turns the Irish girl around, then has her crumpling with pain as she lands a few more, sending a big uppercut whistling past Una’s chin, she has her in trouble, tries to work her to the corner, but Healy escapes from that, and is happy to keep the remainder of the round at arm’s length.
Tough round – got to give it to Lyndsy though.
Round 4
The early exchanges take place nearer Lyndsy’s corner than Una’s as the Irish girl is quicker out of her trap, but the American gets some lovely hooks ripping into Healy’s ribcage, that sound of leather hitting a firm target resounding around the hall, and Una looks in trouble here, being worked slowly around the ring by a good boxer, taking a lot of shots to the body, that guard gradually coming down, then Fonseca tries the uppercut again – ooh, just misses – but she crashes a straight left into the centre of the Irish girl’s face, and that’s got her wobbling, slumping forwards, holding on. When the ref parts them, there is blood dribbling from both of Una’s nostrils, and another crisp punch to the mouth sees her stumbling to the ropes – can Lyndsy put her away? Not time!
Lyndsy takes that round again – Una is in big trouble!
Round 5
Lyndsy comes forward eagerly, while Una is once again trying to box from a distance – Lyndsy’s in close, now, looking for those booming hooks to Una’s body, but the Irish girl fights back – great right hook to the jaw, then a left to the belly, and suddenly it’s Fonseca struggling to stay up, with Healy getting some tidy shots into her flanks on the ropes, beginning to look a good boxer again, more controlled, keeping her distance, but still hurting the American, especially with that left, which is lumping Fonseca’s cheek up.
Una back in the fight after winning that one.
Round 6
Lyndsy attacks from the start again, but she seems to be misjudging her punches now, most of them coming up short as Una sidesteps her, and the Irish girl is quick enough to be counterpunching strongly, her solid jabbing style now undoing Fonseca a bit, and she has the brunette on the ropes more and more as the round progresses, gets her with a sharp left hook to the ribs, which really hurt Lyndsy, then bangs her left again into that bruised cheek/eyesocket and the American is beginning to suffer with that – can she see the punches coming? She certainly feels a solid right to her jaw before the bell, and is glad to sit down.
Una levels the fight at 3 rounds each, and the ref is looking hard at Lyndsy’s eye.
Round 7
Lyndsy needs a big punch from somewhere, but Una is keeping out of harms way as they resume, but she’s tiring too, and, no longer able to dance out of range, she takes a heavy left hook, right hook salvo to her gut, before fighting the American off again with her accurate, stunning jabs, gradually closing the girl’s eye. On the ropes, Fonseca is looking for the uppercut yet again, misses yet again, then is caught by Una’s right hook – Lyndsy’s knees buckle from that, and she gets another, then a left to the temple, and Lyndsy is down in the seventh, struggling to her feet as the ref’s count reaches 6, but those legs aren’t going to hold her – he stops the fight.

After
That was a fight that lived up to it’s billing, and the girls are allowed to give Denise van Outen an interview for BBU Live, with Una saying, “Gave that everything! Took everything she had too! Did I enjoy it? Only when I won!” Lyndsy has a big icepack on her right cheek, ”Yeah, Una did well! But I reckon I coulda finished her off in 5 or 6 if this hadn’t happened. We gotta have a rematch, though – agreed?” Una nods, “Sure! You reckon you can beat me, I’ll give you a rematch!”
