Boxing After Dark

Before: Up and comers getting an opportunity to separate themselves in an intriguing bantamweight tilt. Brewster being fed to lions this time out, gave Spears all she could handle until blonde found some answers. Nice clash of styles--Brewster a very orthodox fighter with good fundamentals, Bosworth a supple slugger with unconventional beach looks at times. Jordana in mauve lace push up bra, black bikini bottoms, Kate in blue and white bikini top, navy bikini bottoms.

During R1: Bosworth loose and relaxed, left hand low, right hand up around her chin, positioned to parry. Kate selective, slipping punches, looking to turn on sudden rights, or get after Jordana’s tummy with a sleek double left hook. Brewster making the fight, working off her jab, she’ll bat the hook, chop right hands--outworking the blonde all around the ring. Bosworth evading the most damaging shots, but she’s too defensive, almost lackadaisical as she slides away, bounces off  the ropes, dips and rolls to the bell.

R2: Same pace--Brewster with her dukes up, shooting rigid jabs, hooks and right hands--Bosworth looser, slipping, issuing the odd counter-hook as she tries to time the brunette, once again Brewster carrying the round--she’s doubling and tripling up on the jab, just pestering Bosworth, keeping the blonde on the defensive, Jordana’s right hands aren’t landing, but she’s batting strong to the ribcage of her bronzed opponent with hooks, forcing Kate to the perimeter of the ring.

R3: More of it, Brewster with the initiative, advancing behind the stick, putting punches together, mixing it up well body and head. Bosworth, supple and slick on defense, sliding back, batting punches out of the air, shoulder-rolling Jordana’s right, coming back with nifty counters, but just not doing enough offensively. .Third straight round to Brewster as good honest wotk ethic outdoes beach-cool.

R4: Bosworth turns it up a notch, starts catching Brewster regular., Jordana still coming forward--Kate slidestepping back, picking her up with that clipping check hook in the chops, rolling the right hand, then slinging in her own right wide to the midsection. Brewster adjusts, tucking her chin, blocking Bosworth’s well places single shots, then countering the counterpuncher with tight hooks out of a compact guard, Nice brisk give and take as the fighters get after each other but down the stretch--Bosworth with her weight on the back foot leans back, rolls her torso right and comes out of a lazy crouch with a jerking right uppercut, popping Jordana’s mouthpiece off her teeth. Brewster hurt,. Waddles forward--Kate with her left hand down, ways in to shoulder-stack Brewster, swivels a step to the right and bends into a slashing right hand potshot that catches ALL of Jordana’s jaw. Brewster soaking up a hell of shot won’t go down, but she’s shellshocked at the bell.

R5: Kate smells blood, gets  after Jordana with a more intense look at the open. Brewster covering up, tilting forward as Bosworth sets her hips, goes waist, ribs and chest wih a deft series of digging lefts, using her right palm and left shoulder to shove Brewster back to reset. Jordana using her legs, roaming left or right, spitting out jabs--she won’t be bullied as she picks Bosworth up coming in, forcing the blonde to regroup. Two-way trade develops as the girls take turns with pretty combinations--bodies pinking up as fists smash back and forth in 2s and 3s, midway through, exchange of hooks goes Jordana’s way--Bosworth stepping wrong, straightening up woozy--Brewster pivots to the right, rips a blindside hook off Bosworth’s left eye and KATE GOES DOWN! Bos on her back, knees flexed, hands at her head--it’s OVER! KO5 Jordana Brewster in spectacular fashion.

After: Brewster puts it all together with a very impressive performance against mercurial Kate. Outworking the blonde early, Jordana shakes off some accurate Bosworth bombs to end Katie’s night in devastating fashion. Heart, skills, killer instinct--Jordana’s got some thing to work with a jam-packed sub-120 class.
