Boxing on the Beach

Before: Jolene going back to her roots, little confidence-booster to shake off the shattering los to Jennifer Connelly. “I was depressed for a couple of weeks for sure,” admits the lanky blonde, “but life goes on, I’m coming back home, fighting under the sun and I’m going to put Connelly behind me, Unfortunately, Kiana has to pay, but then again, somebody always does.” for the punching Polynesian, her first fight in over a year--big signing bonus from Boxing on the beach looking like a lost leader as Tom just hasn’t been able to regain championship form. Lanky brown beauties under a hot southern California sun--beach n’ bleachers set up--Kiana in black sports bra, black terrycloth shorts--Jolene in black push up, leopard print bikini bottoms, blonde dreadlocks.

During 1-3: Jolene going at the older woman systematically, using her reach, pounding jab to expose Kiana’s fading reflexes and shit legs. Blalock using the canvas, showing her boxing skills, nice sharp pivots and turns, screeching changes of direction wrong-footing Kiana, actually causing her to stumble at time, Blalock  with the low left, but stinging Kiki with up-jabs off the hip, banging back pretty Asian face, spanking loud against taut brown abs--Tom having trouble setting her and when she does get off, Jolene’s usually wheeling away. After 3 rounds, Jolene’s won 7 minutes outright--Tom fighting in spots, getting outboxed, eyes puffing up already.

R4-6: Black’s done the work from outside--she’s imposed her will, she’s boss. now she edges in closer, goes flatfooted and starts to bang Kiana in earnest. Jolene generating supple, slinging power, turning over swinging rights to the head, arching her back to crank hooks off the front foot--splattering Kiana’s achy ribs. Blalock showing no signs of chin-doubt--she’s wading in, tightening up her strokes and slugging with Kiana toe to toe, backing the Hawaiian up and getting the better of every sequence. This is sobering stuff for Tom fans--Kiana looking sluggish, pushing punches--she still has that marvelous, hard physique, but her timings off and there’s no snap on her shots. As minutes go by, Tom’s reedy legs unable to hold canvas--Tom’s eyes take on a hounded, hurting glaze--Jolene pounding out the exchanges, then walking Tom down as Kiana retreats. Fight travels around the perimeter--Jolene riding Kiana to ground, dogging her corner to corner, licking and lashing at her as the girls fight tooth and nail at close quarters. After 6, Blalock hasn’t lost a round and Kiana’s all beat up--face puffy, legs stiff and uncertain from slashing, pounding work to her slender body. (In between rounds, replays focus on Jolene operating on Tom’s lean body at the ropes. Blalock jabbing or feinting on approach, easing her way in close by extending the left to nudge Kiki’s right bicep back, then driving in 6-inch THUMPING right hand to those mondo Hawaiian pineapples. Blalock quickly turning off the right, swiveling her hips back the other way, arching her back licking the hook off Kiana’s quivering abs, then twisting, turning over the back foot as she slices in a right along the ribs. It’s all sinewy, shoulder-shrugging lanky goodness--effect on Kiana pronounced in slow-mo: her open  mouth, pained expression, her inability to answer back. Does Jolene nip a little trunk here and there? You bet she does--Kiabna can’t stop it.)

R7: Veteran pride welling up in Kiana--she digs down deep, draws a line in the sand with a brilliant slugging effort. Kiki baring her teeth, finally turning over her back ankle as she drives right hands with authority--Jolene getting beat to clanging crosses and taking her first backward step of the night. Tom Can’t box with  the taller, springie-legged Blalock--Kiana wading inside, licking lanky to ribs and bulging kegs, getting after bra this round as Blalock’s back tastes rope. Juicy pounding in the final minute--Tom on widespread legs, eyes flashing, swinging lusty wide lefts and rights in an attempt to get Jolene of there. Blalock pointing her left shoulder at Kiana, left hand low--she’s just crouching, rolling with Tom’s right hands, then turning into banging rights on the mouth or sudden, ripping counter right uppercuts. Furious trade ends with crowd on its feet, points in Kiana’s pocket as she breaks up the no-hitter.

R8: Noble effort from Tom in the 7th, but it’s expensive--Kiki frazzled, obviously shot and Jolene mercilessly takes advantage. Blalock able to load up at will and slash Tom with vicious walloping right hands--Jolene holding her left at her thigh, pointing the left shoulder at tom, hopping forward and twisting into slinging rights, just bashing away at what’s left, Tom ragged, falling back in her heels, half turning away from punches with her arms outstretched--she’s getting clobbered, Tough to watch--Kiana rubbery legged, catching on her temple and jaw, reeling, staggering and Blalock just pouring herself at the former champ It just can’t go one--Blalock’s landing too hard, too clean, hopping in and hammering away. Tom sputters along the ropes, getting clubbed upside the head as Jolene steps and slings right hands over and over--FINALLY bludgeoned Kiana to a pile of bronzed arms and legs in the corner. Tom rolling onto her back, lips pouted wetly, eyes swollen to battered slits, heroic breasts rising and falling all KO’d--sweet KO8 Jolene Blalock.

After: Blalock’s still got it--battering a rival lanky body with relentless pursuit and whip-mitted power that leaves true Tom fans shuddering, “Kiana’s got to hang it up,” says ESPN2 commentator Mia Finnegan. “People have to realize the pounding fitness stars take on their won circuit--Kiana’s an old woman in fitness terms and there’s no way she should be in with Jolene Blalock at this point. The thing is--Kiana’s still buff and can go rounds, but that’s exactly why she has to quit: Tom’s physique lets her take too much of a pounding.” Jolene not feeling remorse--big grins, lots of hugs and congrats in the Blalock corner--Kiana brought around slowly under a hot, unforgiving sun.
