Before: Jolene fighting the toughest schedule in boxing, moving from one elite bantam to the next in a bid to firm up her people’s champ status. Blalock outboxing the Leonard-esque Dushku, but unable to handle the Mayorga-like rage of McCarthy--she’s got another fine-art type boxer in front of her in Hu. Kelly trying to claw her way back to the top--gutsy call to get it all back in one shot against Blalock. Hu definitely the quicker, slicker girl, but the rangy length and power of Blalock will pose a unique challenge, Jolene in purple diving top, zipper front, yellow bottoms, black shoes--Kelly in black leather sport top, zipper front, black leather boy cut trunks (Gail Kim style outfit) black shoes.

During R1: Jolene out aggressively--feet in wide stance--long slinging rights as she leans onto the front foot, licking, stroking hooks as she sways onto the back foot. Hu initially trying to dip and slip in, but getting walloped--she shies away, pointing her left shoulder at Blalock, but misjudges distance. Time and again, Jolene’s able to lash and club her girl as Hu can’t get all the way out--long blonde legs gobbling up canvas, hounding Kelly all over the ring,. Final minute--snapping jab off the hip occupies Kelly’s guard--Jolene’s able t extend on a withering right over the top, popping jaw and dropping Kelly in a heap at the ropes. Hu beats the count at the bell, takes a step and nearly does a face plant: she;s hurt.

R2: Jolene on to finish--Kelly expertly stepping back, feinting, then walking Blalock into a sizzling jump-in hook,. Blalock leaning onto her back leg, blinking, stunned--Hu chases her with a shooting straight right ion the lips, then palms shoulders to push Jolene off balance. Kelly stalking in short bursts, staying low, stance closed--then jumping in the lead right, crowding and pushing Blalock to the ropes,. JB taking one sharp clout after another in her mouth--just staring back at the hurt--Kelly blindingly fast as she shakes her girl’s legs with precision potshot ting this round.

R3: Both girls have won each other’s respect--more tactical look this round. Kelly pointing the left shoulder, pivoting to her left, leaning onto her right foot to slip Jolene’s jab, jabbing back at long blonde torso, then looking for the quick hook. Blalock keeping the jab out there, even when it doesn’t land--she doesn’t want Kelly jumping in anymore of those sharpshooting rights. Even boxing till very late: Blalock leans away from a swiping hook, leans back in with a shattering counter-right behind the ear and sends Kelly staggering away in disarray. Not enough time for follow up, but numbing shot enough to win Jolene the round.

R4: Kelly on the run, skirting the perimeter--trying to shake off the effects of several Jolene rights in the first few stanzas, Blalock on the stalk--leisurely stretching out the left from her hip, trying to measure Kelly and extend in heartstopping right crosses. Not much landed either way, but Hu can’t win judges’ hearts with this kind of survival mentality.

R5,6: Method to Kelly’s madness--she’s got her legs back, starts to dismantle Jolene with darting, slashing, in and out boxing. Hu pivoting left around her lead shoulder--dabbing jabs to belly: that sets up the quick hook on the chops, As Jolene leans onto her back foot to respect the hook--Hu’s able to jump in the lead right, covering distance faster than Blalock expects, connecting on the taller girl’s mouth, then crowding in to smother and push. Blalock on her heels--back touching ropes at intervals--Hu picking her spots to slide in and flurry, but she’s not sticking around for exchanges. Kelly targeting Blalock’s mouthwatering jugs for abuse--chewing away in bursts in the inside, stepping right and raking the come-along hook across ‘em--making Jolene very tentative. Back to back shutouts Hu as she takes the momentum in the middle rounds.

R7: Jolene getting outboxed--goes a little flat footed, stands her ground more, waits for Hu to come in, then punches with the Asian, emphasizing the lanky hook to breadbasket while Hu headhunts. Kelly’s chopping, slashing fists still dominant, but Blalock’s body work not to be laughed off--Hu looking unsettled despite winning the round as Jolene stops the bleeding.

R8: Blalock’s found something--Hu trying to jump in rights, catching that licking hook in her tummy--Asian legs starting to look queasy after a first minute of sporadic collisions around the ring. Blalock slowly re-asserting herself, coming forward for the first time in several minutes, extending the jab off the hip and negotiating Hu to the ropes. Jolene dipping and ripping long curling rights and lefts off Kelly’s flanks as brunette covers and rolls--Jolene tarting her girl’s body up nice through 8.

R9: Jolene doing it with the jab, long legs, and harsh body work--arching her back to lick that hook up underneath and Kelly’s wilting, Jolene snatching 2 whipping hooks to belly early on--Hu steps out, breathing through pursed lips, legs creaky--Blalock’s steadily putting it to her, Stalking pressure from Blalock--patiently walking Kelly down, fixing her with the jab, then licking right/left against the waist or flanks until Kelly spins and gets out of there.

R10: Kelly roaming left, face tight with hurt--she’s legging out the clock, worried abo9ut her midsection, Jolene stepping confidently forward, left hand low, right at her chest--she’s reaching in the jab, stepping over, trying to lick a rising right against Hus flank to stop her circling evasion, then get up the middle hooks. Kelly charging directions, spinning off the ropes, using her legs--she’s won’t be cornered or worked over, but she won’t do much good defensively either. Blalock takes the 10th on mere aggression, sweeps the final 3 and cops a UD10 over Kelly Hu.

After: Blalock strutting, happy smile on bruised face--Hu got there plenty, had her girl hurt, but Asian;s caution cost her down the stretch as Jolene ekes out a competitive duke. “I’m the best there is,” states Jolene flatly in post fight, “I’ve taken Eliza and Kelly apart, destroyed Neve, hammered Dani--I’ve cleaned this division up while Jennifer Connelly trembles beneath the covers, hoping I’ll move up or go away., Well, I’m still here and I want somebody’s title.
