Before: "People need to understand that even though Jessica Biel is back," Rachel pauses for effect, "I'm better. That's right - I said it: I'm better than Jessica Biel at her best, no excuses. She's fast, she's toned, she's coming off victory...I'm gonna take all that and break her down. It's been a long time coming for me - much of it spent in Biel's shadow: now's the time for me to shine bright, and for Jess to take a break in the shade!" Biel tight lipped throughout Rachel's brazen tone: this is the kind of thing Jessica's out to break. "I don't like this new Rachel," Jess says, eyes flashing. "I like the Rachel Nichols who used to kiss my ass and carry my gymbags around...this one is loud, abrasive and altogether in need of a catastrophic ass-beating. She's confident, I get that - but there's a fine line between feeling good about yourself, and going crazy over the top with ego. Time to prune this girl back to where she belongs." Rachel in green lace push up; jazzy print bikini bottoms in various geometric shapes and colours against green background; yellow gloves; coppery curls drawn into low ponytail/ringlets framing face. Jessica in leopard print top/white bottoms; white gloves; long brown hair loose.

R1: Rachel: hands up, slightly extended, elbows in, arms relaxed. Feet nice n' light; Rachel skipping, then stepping, changing the pace of her footwork - setting in spots to punch; stepping in or out as required. Rachel's jab stiff n' quick - stitching in between Biel's mitts, punching mouth. Biel stalking - hopping in and out - left hand tracing circles in the air; right close to her chin as she looks to pounce. Tense, chess-match minutes - Jess stooping to jab into Rachel's tummy; Nichols dropping the odd straight right hand down into Jessica's body. Who's better? Jessica a little zippier - turning over whistling hooks to graze Rachel's chin, spooking Nichols a bit.

R2: Same looks - turning fight midring. Minute mark - Rache screening Jessica's eyeline via the jab: swinging sidearm right catches Biel flush to jaw out wide...Biel's stepping in fence-post holes hurt! Second minute a vicious redheaded beatdown - Nichols ripping hooks-to-waist off her front (left) leg; Nichols dropping stiff one-twos up the middle, penetrating guard and knocking back Jessi's head. Biel staggering around, bouncing ragdoll off ropes, pursued and battered pillar to post. Results: Biel beaten to canvas twice by sharp-punching Rachel Nichols...redhead hard-eyed, all business as she reduces her rival through 2.

R3: Same looks: Rachel circling relaxed, leggy - using the jab - sliding out of range to create gaps - lots of subtle variety from Nichols tonight. Biel busted up, looking rocked - she's forced into a more aggressive posture, trying to get points back. Halfway point - Jess with a wide hook/short-chopping right hand to chin...RACHEL'S ROCKED! Nichols staggered, covering up earmuff midring: Jessica LASHING the breadbasket whipping hooks; slashing right hands to head/shoulders. Rachel's turn to be battered round the ring...she's hurt, keeping hands at temples, bouncing off ropes...Biel stalking Rachel, laying it on thick to bell.

R4: Steady pursuit from Jessica: Nichols much leggier now, using the ring in retreat. Jess penetrating with lunging jabs; lead right hands - nicking and pasting at Rachel. Nichols cute on defense - dipping her head to the left to slip Jessi's right; dipping to the right to get outside Jessi's jab. Biel's round, but she can't get hard harm done through 4.

R5: Jess stalks Rachel for another minute, then runs into a brace of stiff check-jabs as Nicholes stops-and-pops. Rache drops the right hand in - scoring to chin; clips-across the hook...Biel's knees give way, forcing her to stumble away in confusion. Roles reversed: Nichols now stalking Jessica - reaching out and touching her that stiff jab in the kisser...Biel loping to her right, showing leg to bell.

R6: Jessica jabs her way inside, sets up on Rachel's chest, neatly renegotiating all terms. Girls grunting and shoving, using left shoulders inside, swatting and swiping in tight. Jessica getting much the better of it - taking a steady licking inventory of Rachel's tummy, tits and chin in tight.

R7: Stiff jabs pulverizing Jessica as she's trying to bull-in: crashing right hand finds her outside, swiveling her head and DROPPING HER TO ALL FOURS! Rachel striding back, glaring down all nostrils-flaring: poor Jessi's rallying off the deck once more. Biel dazed, eyes glassy, but combative off the ropes - just hunching shoulders and slugging her way forward. Rachel giving ground in a wide stance - creating the gap, pumping the jab, then fitting Jess for short left uppercuts as Biel's closing in. Jess doing her work in receipt to Rachel's ribs; Nichols pushing off Jessica's shoulders and creating space. Spirited stuff - girls fighting to a standstill after the knockdown.

R8: Similar stuff - Jess fighting her way inside, then carving away short-swipe clout: Nichols pushing off, using her legs and jab to spread Jess out, fitting Jess for left uppercuts inside or slinging rights outside. Hard-hitting, crowd-pleasing stuff - Biel paying a steady, pasting price for getting inside, giving Rachel the edge in play through 8. Gut check for Jess Biel during the break: pretty face all busted up, nose bleeding as seconds get to work on her.

R9: Same again, Jessica paying the leather-price to get inside where she does outwork Rachel in spots: leggy Nichols finding ways to disengage and work her game outside. Difference maker is Rachel's jagged, close-in left uppercut - forcing Jess to eat that punch whenever Biel moves in close. By the end, Rachel's sidestepping blinking Biel - slapping Jessica ears or elbows to help turn her.

R10: Round of the year starts out quietly with Rachel circling around her jab, patiently pulverizing Jessica's face. Slicing counter-right over the jab sorts Rachel out...her right foot slides forward, stepping in a bad spot, spilling her to her right...she's all hurt and Jessica's over to offence. Biel pursues Jess to ropes, HEAPING it on with both hands, keeping elbows in for nice compact delivery. Rachel staring, head kicking back when she's caught, guard wilting. Crowd screaming as RAchel slides to her right along ropes - Biel stepping-with, frothing at the mouth to end this thing and JESSICA GETS CAUGHT! Ripping right uppercut catches Jess as she's looking to pile on righty herself...Biel suddenly swaying on her hips, looking lost. Groggy Nichols wades off ropes - hands on Jessica's shoulders to steady her, then STUFFING her tummy full of left hook. Jessica blurting in pain, doubling up: Rachel basically a punching zombie, just hacking and bashing at reeling Jess. Girls stumbling around, bracing-and-pasting each other...bell sounds as Rachel's still drifting Jessica sleepy as ref moves in. Comes back UD10 Rachel Nichols!

After: Both girls staring, swaying on the spot as decision is announced: Biel too battered to even cry as Rachel's limp arm is raised. Dazed fighters hug without warmth...stumbling to respective corners...draining battle has both fighters on the verge of sleep. "Boxed her and beat her," a tired Rachel manages with a pained smile. "Jab's always been the key to breaking Jessica down, but I think she was shocked to find that she couldn't take my punch. Knocked her down 3 times - had her hurt and crying - that's what it's all about."
