BBU LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE BOUT (Manchester, UK.)

Next up is the BBU lightweight title fight between champion Lisa and blonde presenter of BBU live Denise van Outen. Now, ten years or so ago, Denise was a real contender, who just didn't get the breaks to join FCBA. Having said that, apart from a savage left hook, she shouldn't have too much to worry Lisa tonight, although her southpaw style may confuse the champion

Denise has clad her bronzed body in a startling white bikini, with Lisa wearing her normal black leather, the girls almost spitting at each other with hatred before they start.

Round 1

After a surprisingly cagey start by both girls, Lisa makes the first moves, jabbing Denise's face, then she lands a right hook too, and Denise is staggering already, looking to clinch with the singer. The ref parts them and Denise clips Lisa's mouth on the break, which angers the singer greatly, and she storms into Denise's body, and batters her on the ropes to the end of the round.

Lisa takes the first round - this might not last long!

Round 2

Lisa still looks annoyed, loping in to Denise, wanting to hurt her to the body again, punish her for her cheap first round trick - but Denise is no mug, and she is strong enough to clinch and hold, kind of wrestling Lisa around and to the ropes, pushing her back with her right glove to the shoulder, wanting to wind up her left hook, which Lisa blocks, but the older girl is making her look clumsy, and she's getting more annoyed.

A frustrating round - shaded by Denise?

Round 3

Cheekily, Denise is smiling and she starts well, her right jab hard enough to keep Lisa on the move, but the singer is gradually closing her into a corner, and Denise actually checks her feet position before Lisa ploughs into her, wiping big shots across the blonde's face, left and rights landing, and almost putting the older girl down, the blonde clinching again, then spoiling to the bell, hurt but not yet buckling.

Lisa takes that round.

Round 4

Lisa is coming onto Denise from the the bell again, moving the blonde around the ring, looking to get her on the ropes to hit her to the gut again, but Denise won't be pushed around that easily, and she's clinching again, the ref having a hard job here to keep the girls apart. From the break, Lisa closes Denise to the ropes, looking for those ribs, but Denise sees her chance and crashes a left hook to Lisa's jaw, and she's down. Up at 8, bleeding from the mouth, Lisa looks groggy, but she hangs on, despite getting lamped to the body repeatedly by a rejuvenated Denise.

Big winning round win for Denise!

Round 5

Denise is gaining in confidence, and she has that right jab popping nicely onto Lisa's mouth, she's getting her backed up against the ropes, trying to set her up for another left hook, with Lisa now the one using spoiling tactics. Denise is using a lot of energy in this round, and she tires before the end, allowing Lisa to fight off the ropes, turn her and bang her to the body

Tight round, but Denise maybe shaded it.

Round 6

Early on, Denise is still coming forward, jabbing at Lisa's face, but the singer is fighting back hard, her left jabs finding Denise's face more regularly, and she's following up the the body, pushing the blonde back more and more. Denise constantly tries to clinch, but Lisa is battering her body a little too much, and Denise is covering up defensively by the bell, looking a little weary

Lisa gets around back.

Round 7

Only one girl looking to land punches now, and that's Lisa! She finds Denise's body again, but the blonde is stubborn in the early stages of the round, and she's clinching, holding, spoiling - just stopping Lisa from getting any decent shots in. The singer is frustrated, but must not use up her energy, and she palys ds game until late in the round, when she jerks Denise's head back with some sharp jabs.

Lisa takes the round, and is taking control, too.

Round 8

Denise looks tired as they resume, and she's picking up punishment with Lisa working on her body on the ropes, left and right hooks to the ribs, then a straight right into her belly, and Denise iss on her knees, taking an 8 count. She's up, but she's unsteady, and Lisa's just picking her off, jabbing her face, the blonde all over the place - she takes a right hook to the mouth, and she's down again, scrambling up at 8 again, but getting punished through to the bell.

Big round for Lisa - Denise looks beaten at last.

Round 9

Lisa used up a lot of energy in the 8th, and she's slower now, not quite having the power in her punches any more, but still landing to Denise's body, with the blonde on the ropes, then covering up and clinching. Denise is just leaning on Lisa, not really boxing now, just wearing her down, with the singer cuffing her body, then, when the ref breaks them, landing jabs to her face

Lisa takes another round, but can she finish the job off?

Round 10

The round starts off where the 9th finished, with Lisa trying to work Denise back to the ropes, and Denise leaning on, clinching and spoiling, just looking to last out the distance. At the midpoint, Lisa finally gets Denise into a corner, and gets home with a couple of good jabs, knocking the blonde's bruised face back, but Denise responds! A right To Lisa's midriff, then a big left hook to the jaw, and she's staggering, Denise turns her, lands another lrft hook, and Lisa goes down, sitting on the canvas for a 7 count. There's less than a minute to go, but now Denise is after Lisa Maffia's title, thudding punches into her body again, getting her with another left hook, and the bell rings with Lisa draped over the ropes, almost out.

That's Denise's round by a street, but is it enough?

And the result - by a split decision - Lisa Maffia beat Denise van Outen on points to retain her BBU Lightweight title.

The girls have to show respect for each other after that gruelling battle - none of the threatened punishment will take place, and the only talk is of a rematch.
