KO4 Alba

It’s the oldest question in Hollywood: what separates a superstar from an extra? Understudies the world over constantly complain that their superior talent goes unrecognized while undeserving tramps rule--and perhaps nobody in the business inspires this sort of contempt more than Ms. Alba. Jessica took this fight to bolster her image throughout the length and breadth of the sport--fighting a tough, competent journeywoman to prove that her megaceleb status is based on merit, not marketing.

For the first three rounds, Jessica’s claims of inherent superiority were put to the test as Kadee pressed the super-starlet all around the ring, Engagements were sharp, intense--with Kadee lowering her head and thrashing her arms back and forth to pound at Jessica’s sleek ribcage while Alba slide to the side, looking to lick uppercuts or fit Kadee for sliding right crosses. The differences seem to be more of style than effect: Alba was more supple in her movements, lankier in  her delivery, more apt to sidestep and fight from angles; Kadee, if a touch slower, proved a tad stronger, matching Alba’s smooth punches with cudgeling, batting strokes which were just as effective.

There IS a difference between the best and the rest however, and it’s usually to be found oin one concentrated area of excellence. Hollywood’s finest fighters often possess superior speed, power, will or some other singular edge that they hone to razor keenness. In the fourth round, Jessica displayed this unnerving talent when she caught Kadee a right hand amidst the churning flurry of Strickland punches, neatly buckling the blonde’s legs. In that moment--Kadee was lost: hurt, she stumbled forward, hoping to clinch; Alba shifted weight to back (right) foot and ended the fight with a glorious right uppercut--all sinuous and curling via the bolo delivery to Strickland’s chin. Kadee folded face-first into the canvas, deep in slumber, proving Jessica Alba’s status is no fluke after all.
