This is an interesting prospect at bantamweight between popular Liverpudlian popsinger Liz and local classical singer Katherine, who is making her debut. Katherine's inclusion in BBU has proved something of a surprise, but she has plenty of local support for her first fight - the girls do not know each other really, and there is no prefight hostility, although Liz is determined the Welsh girl will not use her as a stepping stone.

Liz looks superb in a shimmering white bikini, whilst Katherine opts for a red one-piece outfit.

Round 1

Katherine starts well, jabbing Liz's face neatly, with Liz just mostly circling, dancing away, keeping clear of trouble, not offering much as the Welsh girl bats away at her

First round to Katherine.

Round 2

Liz is a little more aggressive this time, landing a couple of decent jabs, but she's soon having to defend as Katherine attacks her to the body, then gets some good jabs into her face, bossing the fight at this stage, with Liz seemingly unworried that she's gifting rounds to the debutante.

Katherine takes the second.

Round 3

A confident Katherine comes out strong, seeking Liz out, finding her too, neat, crisp jabs smacking into the girl's reddening face, making her box on the retreat, not able to land much in return. Soon the dancing Liz runs out of room, backs into the ropes, then takes a beating and looks poor by the end of the round.

Katherine takes a third round.

Round 4

Katherine is still looking good, fit and able to dominate Liz, who continues to be subdued, content to dance and skip out of harm's way, making Katherine do all the work. This time, however, there is no attempt made by Katherine to push Liz to the ropes, as she seeks to conserve energy in what is looking like a long fight.

That’s 4 rounds to Katherine.

Round 5

Quicker out of her corner, Katherine again takes the fight to Liz, but this time she fights back a little more, her left jabs smacking loudly into Katherine's face, and now her features are reddened by the impact of leather on skin. Late in the round, there is a real exchange of punches, with neither girl defending, which ends with Katherine backing off, covering her head to protect herself as the more experienced puncher starts to get through to her.

At last Liz gets a round.

Round 6

Now Liz attacks Katherine from the start of the round, using her agility to jab and move, her left jabs starting to bruise the Welsh girl's face, and she has her stunned with a right hook to the jaw, with Katherine clinching, peering over Liz's shoulder. The girls are parted, after which Liz lands a few more good shots to Katherine's face, only to be hurt late by a 4 hook barrage to her body as the local girl unloads with both fists.

Liz takes that round too, but was hurt at the end.

Round 7

Liz comes out of her corner quickly, surprising Katherine by smacking her face hard with two left jabs and a right hook, and soon the girls are swapping punches in mid-ring again, but this time it's Liz coming off second best, a right hook from Katherine turning her sideways, then a left sits her on her butt. Up at 6, looking embarrassed, and bleeding from the nose, Liz defends for the remainder of the round, stopping Katherine from hitting her again by clinching.

Katherine takes that round easily.

Round 8

The girls are both tiring, but it's Katherine landing the better punches again at the beginning of the round, with Liz's defence unable to stop that left jab landing in and around her nose and mouth, both of which are seeping blood, and the Liz gets rocked by a right hook, but clings on, and just won't go down

Another round for Katherine.

Round 9

Katherine has this fight in her pocket, but she's very tired, and her punches are somehow missing any snap at all now, letting Liz begin to get through to her with her own shots at this late stage, and she's hurting Katherine, bodyshots getting through, and now the Welsh girl is the one clinching and holding, needing to just survive with Liz urgently pumping shots into her as they clinch.

Liz gets a round back, but she needs a knockout to win it.

Round 10

Liz attacks Katherine from the bell, and the Welsh girl looks exhausted as Liz rips those shots into her weary body - and she goes down, on her knees and grovelling from a belly punch. Katherine is up at 8, but very shaky, and Liz uses her last ounces of energy trying to get a clean shot to her chin, but Katherine is leaning on her, almost a deadweight around her neck, and the bell sounds with Katherine draped almost senseless over Liz's shoulder.

Liz takes the final round, but Katherine Jenkins has beaten Liz McLarnon on points - a unanimous decision.

That was a good performance from Katherine, but she'll need more firepower if she is to progress. Liz is distraught - she just didn't seem motivated.
