This is a tough prospect for Karen Gillan – Rihanna’s a well-set and powerful welterweight, whereas Karen is probably really a tall lightweight, constantly being matched at welter because the shorter girls won’t risk getting taken out by her long reach.

No surprise that Rihanna is the more stunning when they enter the ring, in a white bikini that leaves nothing to the imagination, with Karen wearing a royal blue leotard.

Round 1

In the early moments, Karen is doing well, boxing Rihanna neatly, dancing around well for a big girl, staying outside, moving clockwise. A scowling Rihanna just keeps coming forward, all a bit aimless and brainless really, as she’s not cutting off the ring, waiting on Gillan making a mistake, which simply doesn’t happen in the 3 minutes.

First round to Karen.

Round 2

This is splendid long-boxing from Karen, the Scot looking really up for this challenge. Rihanna’s reaching, coming up short every time she moves in, as Gillan's legs keep her safe outside. There’s not much scoring from either girl as their tactics cancel each other out, but Karen's jab is finding Rihanna 's face enough to keep the singer firmly at bay

A second round to Karen.

Round 3

Karen continues with her high energy tactics of jabbing and moving, but it’s tough to keep this going, and Rihanna is getting to Karen's ribcage a bit, and those punches are hard, punishing and weakening. Still Karen boxes behind her jab a bit and for the majority of the round it’s Karen circling and jabbing with Rihanna walking her down, getting probably the best punches in.

Close round – even.

Round 4

It’s more of the same routine when the girls meet up again, with tall, slim Karen using her legs and jabs routine to keep the singer at arm’s length. This time, though, she can’t keep her off for the whole round and Rihanna nails her late, crashing a solid right hook into her ear, really rocking her. Gillan’s in trouble in the final minute or so, rocked, staggering and stepping in fence post holes – she doesn’t seem to know where she is as she somehow gets to the bell without taking any more big hits.

Rihanna steals the round with one good shot.

Round 5

A still-dazed Karen is playing it safe, hardly throwing a punch in the first part of the round, just circling, almost running, but as she regains her senses she starts to look good again. A strangely subdued Rihanna fails to press on, as Karen clips her again and again with her jabs, even dropping in the odd right hand to sting Rihanna and keep her off.

Surprisingly, that’s a round to Karen.

Round 6

The stamina and sheer will of Karen Gillan is keeping her in complete command of the ring, incredibly still able to keep circling Rihanna, who is frustrated, just plodding after her, never cutting the Scot off. Gillan's jab is just peppering Rihanna’s rather angry-looking face, and her right cross is raking the singer's front in a shutout round.

Once again – round to Karen.

Round 7

Bubbling with confidence, way ahead on points, and Karen goes for broke - she's been punching Rihanna at will, and now she sets feet to really hurt the singer. The actress gets some good, rangy one-twos penetrating, punching Rihanna to ropes, and Karen’s just leaning in and banging Rihanna’s body with good shots - lefts and rights. Rihanna looks beaten, just staring past Karen, and she’s stunned late in the round by a good left to the jaw. But now Karen’s tiring, and tiring quickly – her punches have little power, and the singer's legs are just too strong to give way. They return to their corners, with Rihanna cut to the right eye.

Round 8

That cut seems to have fired Rihanna up at long last, the girl recovering well during the break, and she now rips into Karen clubbing the Scot with big, damaging punches. Karen's punched herself out, and her defence is ineffective, with her flailing, pushy punches not enough to keep Rihanna off. It’s all Rihanna my the middle of the round as she batters the poor redhead against the ropes and into a corner, where a crushing right hook ends Gillan's night.

Up in the BBU studio, Victoria Beckham sneers as Liz Hurley, “My girls aren’t doing badly, now are they big-mouth? Now who’s a good manager?” Liz just stares out at the ring
