BOXING AFTER DARK

Before: Surprising everyone - especially herself - Megan Fox comes into this fight frustrated by her inability to separate herself from arch-rival...uber-redhead Lindsay Lohan! Megs had a scripted scenario in which she became a "legitimate celebrity" while 'LiLo' spiraled out of control from a series of self-inflicted wounds. Now Megan (thanks to several embarrassing in-ring setbacks and on-screen flubs) finds she's "just another member of the pack"...one of many nubile young actresses hoping to establish herself via the boxing route.

In Reese Witherspoon, Megan has something 'good as gold'; an always solid, professional, blonde experiencing something of a renaissance of her FCBA career since joining 'The Academy' last year. Until, that is, she dropped her last three fights for the year - spawning rumors of a possible trade to another stable! But Reese righted the ship in 2011, winning 2 of 3... while Megan was losing 4 of her last 5 fights!

So, if one expects a certain amount of resentment on the part of Megan - who burns to achieve Witherspoon level respect and celebrity - one would be accurate in that assessment... because she certainly hasn’t found it yet!

Fox stunning the crowd with a tiny black bikini, black gloves and black shoes; dark hair pulled back in a battle braid. The gorgeous young actress looks like she means business tonight!

Reese presents a contrast in every way possible; a lush, pale, body - in an unusual thong bikini; white gloves and white boots; golden blond tresses in a saucy ponytail.

The women lean in chest to chest; eyes locked, as the referee goes over the instructions. They slap gloves as if they don't mean it, then whirl and head back to their corners...eager to be rid of their nemesis.

During Rd1: Reese diligent, jabbing her way forward in a low crouch; looking to establish the inside position where she can work on softening up Megan's taut body. And it's working. The round is all Witherspoon until late when Megan catches the petite blonde with a hard counter hook. Reese reeling wobbly butt, chased down and battered at the bell. It's a bad early setback and Reese has clearly been hurt in the opening stanza!

Rds 2-3: All Reese Witherspoon. Megan not a factor in either round, simply not getting off at all. Reese dominating the action; forcing Megan to cover up; beating her down into a tight defensive shell. Fox taking a beating along the ropes, grumpy from punishment; forced to hold while looking to the referee for breaks. Reese easy-breezy, putting combinations together; all upbeat and sunny confidence. Surprisingly, Witherspoon fighting like the younger girl - always getting after Fox; on top of her from bell to bell. Reese continually forcing the action; wedging herself in between Fox's elbows and digging at that nubile young body from close range. Reese, fighting off Meg's heaving chest, dictating the pace thru 3.

Rd4: Reese walks Fox down and heaps on another early beatdown. Meg reeling in disarray for the first minute, but her resistance stiffens after she catches 'Spoon with sneak counter in the closing minute. Megan piling on to steal the round with a flurry in the closing seconds that impresses the judges! Once more, Reese hurt by Megan's surprising late power that allows the brunette to mitigate the damage. Witherspoon able to take Megan's punch, but she's not seeing the shots - or maybe it's more that Fox's new, more closed stance, is screening the right hand from Reese.

Rd5: Whatever she's doing, Fox has found something in this fight. Again, Reese dominates the first two minutes of action, clearly winning the round - but then she gets caught and rocked AGAIN by Megan. Meg's follow-up flurry lathers Reese back onto her buns and - as Megan steps over her - Reese sits up, leaning back on her hands, shaking her head in disbelief. Late KD gives Fox another close round and her demeanor is starting to brighten as she comes out for the sixth.

Rd6: Same thing yet again! An interesting - but disturbing - pattern! Reese winning the majority of the minutes, but Fox being very economical in her punch-stat numbers; hurting Witherspoon with a sneaky, sly; almost invisible punch - then pouring in behind it to lather the blonde to the bell. Both girls lumping up about the face, and while Reese is winning the majority of the minutes, she's been close to getting stopped a couple of times. In the Academy corner, Sharon Stone reading Reese the riot act with the expected grabbing, tugging, and shaking of that skimpy little bikini top!

Rd7: 'Spoon stabilizes. Veteran blonde is no nonsense when she gets serious. Reese springing off her stool, coming in low; jabbing out of the low crouch; forcing her way inside where she chests up on Megan; fighting her belly to belly. Reese takes the round thanks to her methodical, take-no-prisoners, approach...not letting Fox land any 'late lightening' this round.

Rd8: Same again! Reese displaying a veteran's ring savvy; taking no chances. Curvy little blonde clinching, holding, worming her way into Megan's shorts. It's Witherspoon making it all about tummies and, surprisingly, it's the softer, curvier, appearing body of the older blonde that emerges in command after three hard give-and-take minutes of body buffeting blows.

Rd9: Still more of the same! Reese now determinedly attacking Megan's ribcage, flanks, and youthful waist. Accumulation of nine minutes of abuse finally weakening Fox who exits this round upright-but-exhausted thanks to the continual pounding by Witherspoon. Fox's mouth gaping open; eyes narrowed slits; her energy spent.

Rd10: Despite her late charge, Reese still may need the round - or even a possible knockdown to get the decision. She's relentless in pursuit of a reeling Fox who probably only has to go the distance for the decision - or at least a draw. Reese showing her grit and determination, chasing Megan like she stole her Oscar! Fox staggered several times; put back on her heels; stumbling in disarray; frantically holding on. Fox forced to do anything just to survive the three minutes. Witherspoon's pressure proves too much and the wheels come off Fox's cart late. DOWN GOES FOX! A short right inside drops Megan to her tush but she manages to beat the count; dragging herself up the ropes and swaying as the referee gives her a standing eight. Reese piling on, hammering Megan back into, then thru the ropes. The referee has no choice but to intervene and stop the fight with Fox helpless at 2:55 of the tenth. TKO10 Reese Witherspoon as the ref pulls 'Spoon off a demoralized Megan who collapses into his protective embrace.

After: A fine veteran performance by Witherspoon who found herself getting bamboozled by a slick fighting brunette in the early going; but rallied and took control of the situation in the closing rounds.

"Sure I've heard the rumors about me being dropped, released, traded, or whatever'ed for someone younger, hotter or you all know what. Lemme tell you, I don't care WHAT the trash media reports. I know where I stand with the Academy and they know where they stand with me. I put a L-O-T of money into the stable when I signed and they know I'll pull the rug out from under them if they mess with me! "I've made no secret I want to win a title and I won't mind leaving if it helps me accomplish that...but nobody puts Reese in a corner; no body."

Fox looking disconsolate facing the media - who jump all over her about "recent failures." Meg's shrugs and shakes her head, refusing to speculate, just muttering, "It's something I can fix. You saw it, I had her about to go several times. There's just some little tweak I need and then I'll be better than ever. You all know there's no blonde in the world half as hot as 'La Fox'!"
