Sydney, Australia (outdoor beach bout--much larger attendance than a typical American beach circuit contest)

KO7 Moore

This was an entertaining scrap, Fought to fulfill Kylie's obligation to an Australian swimwear line (in support if her own Kylie name brand), Minogue would prove undergunned from the get-go, but feisty and energetic, splitting the first four rounds with a surprisingly patient Moore.

While Kylie played to the crowds with circus-punching theatrics (often standing with both hands at her sides, timing swipes at Demi as Moore pressed in), Demi was her usual technically-sound self--tucking her chin working behind her jab, finishing with hooks after her right cross. perhaps Kylie's brazen unorthodoxy baffled the textbook-proficient Moore early--but when Demi's body blows began to land with bite--the writing was on the wall for 38 year old Kylie.

The last three rounds lacked the suspense oif the first four as Moore stepped up the pace and battered Minogue into a stupor. This was Demi at her heartless best, pulverizing her foe's ribs, then walking rickety Kylie down, knocking the Aussie's head back and forth with single, crisp clouts from either hand. Kylie's legs began to give way in the fifth, but despite terrible balance and battle-fatigue, the little Aussie continued to struggle, albeit without serious threat of damage to Moore.

The KO? Crisp and clean--Moore gouge-uppercutting Kylie up out of her crouch with a tight left hand; hooking her mouth the same hand, then dropping the right to swivel Minogue's head, dropping her to her back. Kylie lay in spasm--elbows in near her hips, with her hands up, eyelashes buzzing--neatly dispatched under a baking Aussie sun.
