Before: Packard downright surly with press--she's being targetted and she knows it. "Everyone thinks I'm the weak link at 110," fumes Packard, "everyone thinks the way to credibility is paved with Kelly Packard. Well, get this straight: no way this cheap WB skank gets over on me. I'm going to school this blonde like she's never been schooled before." Burton bemused by the tirade, but she can't know what it's like to be in Kelly's shoes--Packard raging against time as much as she is Hilarie. Burton with all the physical advantages, doesn't walk around at flyweight--she's big strapping test for Packard. Hilarie in purple sport bikini black shoes--small black gloves for both.

During R1: Shorter Packard nevertheless establishes the jab midring, surprising Burton with snap. Kelly slipping Hilarie's hopeful right, lick-hooking taut youn waist or cheek--Packard making Burton miss and making her pay early. End of first minute, clanging counter hooki unhinges Burton's knees--she's all rubbery when Kel bends into a smashing right all-in on nthe face, toppling Burton to ropes. Kelly hops-to, hunkers down close--digging flurry to the breadbasket ends with a tidy hook on the teeth--Hilarie's a-swoon. Packard in with her head, shoulders, elbows paving the way for dotting fists up and down Hilly's torso--scouring beatdown has Burton a-shambles--crowd squealing, Round ends to the sight of Kelly stabilizing with he left in Hilly's chest, raining down right hands to a shellshocked, staring Burton's face. Devastating first--Packard hasn't punched this hard, this much since the Kari Wuhrer fight 2 years ago--Poor Burton bleeding from the nose, dazzled by slender-limbed fury. CHEAP LATE ELBOW TO THE GUT! Kelly sliding in from the side on defenseless Burton, digs the flyweight calling-card in hard, winding Hilly for the break.

R2: Packard with a feint, step right, hesitation right on the mouth, she hangs around on her front doot dipping under Burton's waving right and takes Hilly's liver a hook Burton shabby, backpedalling--she's trying to establish range, but misjudging it, creating fertile ground for Packard power shots. Kel dialed in--jabbing in the bridge of the nose to screen her right hands--she's got Burton sagging at the ropes, Kel in tuff with that whirlwind scrub of head, elbow and shoulders again, buffeting Burton open, fouling her rugged, then digging at wide open ribs and stunned, open mouth. BURTON GOES DOWN! Pouring assault bludgeons long Hilarie to her knees--she's up at 8, swaying woozy on the spot and ON COMES PACKARD! Kelly shoving Burton upright with oeft in the chest and STREAMING right hands home! Hard to watch--Burton staring, defenseless--Kelly heartless as she cracks and reloads, keeping Burton propped up with the left, Packard's back foot turning over in the big toe as she drives in the hurt--she's getting every ounce of murderous leverage out of that wiry body. It's all too much--ref steps in, gathering up a numb, unresponsive Hilarie--savage TKO2 Kelly Packard.

After: Packard storming round the ring--she answers critics, slays demons in this fight--both of which had been haunting her of late with the suggestion that her best days were behind her. Packard's blood up--she shoves Hilarie upright in her corner, mounts the ropes and poses strong over the still-shellacked and woozy beauty: Burton turning sideways, shoulder in Kelly's tummy, hands up to protect her head as if from pummelling; Kelly's hands high, body bouncing slightly on the ropes, rubbing up on Burton in gloating celebration.
