Mandy Seyfried pulling no punches in prefight interviews. This from TMZ.com: "I've got a bone to pick with Witherspoon. She got an ill deserved hometown decision over my buddy Cassie Scerbo. Let's face facts, Witherspoon isn’t much of a fighter anymore....really, was she ever much good? She's got that cute, cuddly, little soft body that judges seem to love and she's got an Academy Award - which I admit she really did deserve. But other than those two things, there's not much 'there' there. I'm far and away the better fighter and this IS going to be a fight; not a beauty contest or an act-off. I don't understand why she's the favorite...I'm nine years younger, I'm stronger, I'm better looking and I'm...ahem...more buxom to boot!"
Reese sighing when she hears Amanda's put-downs read to her by a reporter. "Seyfried said that? I'm surprised. Oh, not that she said it, lately they all seem to be putting me down, even my own stable is supposed to be trying to dump me. But Seyfried has been described by one wag as '...not exactly impressive' and I have to agree. Sure, she has a winning record, but seriously, just who the h#ll has she beaten? There's not one 'A list' name in the bunch...not a lot of 'B list' names either, for that matter."
Witherspoon fetchingly winsome in her Academy blue bikini; cornsilk hair in a saucy ponytail; white gloves and shoes. Seyfried awesomely attractive in a sheer lace baby blue bra; matching Spanks bottom, white shoes/white socks rolled down; white gloves; hair top knotted off her face with wispy bangs. Girls staredown, Seyfried leaning in, letting Reese feel the weight of her heaving bosom. 'Spoon not backing down...but the fact she's considerably over-matched is obvious to all.
Jewel/Neve in Seyfried's corner, Sharon Stone/Teri Hatcher for Witherspoon.

During R1: Toe-to-toe slugging. Both women intent on sending a message and each of them delivers in turn. Early, it's all Reese; blonde Oscar winner working behind that trademark left jab, using it to set up crisp right hands to head/heart as available. Seyfried forced into retreat, but in good order and under control; biding her time and using effective counters as the opportunity presents. Midway, Amanda over to offense behind a counter right hand that stops 'Spoon in her tracks. Now it's Reese retreating, Amanda advancing. Seyfried shoeshines Reese's 'girls' when she puts her butt in the ropes and Amanda can't help smiling when she lights up "Witherspoon's Wonderbra." SEYFRIED'S HURT! Closing minute, Reese off the ropes rocks Amanda's world with hook/cross combo that puts Seyfried's head on a swivel. It's all Reese in the final minute as she cleans up on her upstart blonde rival to pocket the points.

R2: Seyfried can't recover during break and Reese jumps on her from the opening bell, then mops up as Amanda can't hold her ground. Reese getting some payback for Seyfried's jugg-muggerage in the first, shoe-shining Amanda's awesome assets in the second minute to put a snarling grimace of pain on Seyfried's plush lips. Winsome Witherspoon jaunty back to her stool between stanza's, convinced she's made her point: "You don't mess with my girls and I won't embarrass your less talented taa-taa's."

R3: Moore from Reese. Once again, Witherspoon starts fast; putting Seyfried on the defensive from the bell. But Amanda's slowly getting herself together and late in the round she's competing tooth and nail with Witherspoon. More juggage as neither girl is willing to let any affront to her front go unanswered in kind. At one point, both women toe-to-toe, swinging mindlessly at the other's bosom; no thought of defense and apparently no thought of going elsewhere. If it were to other fighters the crowd might think they'd inadvertently wandered into a JMD fight, but clearly that's not something you'd see with Witherspoon involved!

R4: Amanda looking fully recovered, hurts Reese in another toe-to-toe exchange. Reese, uncharacteristically, refusing to back off from Amanda's heaving bosom and gets caught flush on the jaw for her insensitivity! Closing minute, Amanda Seyfried worrying Reese around the ring, tucking into her taut tummy and coming around windmill style to clobber her upside the head. It's not technically pretty, but effective as Seyfried puts the points in her column this round.

R5: This time it's Witherspoon who's challenged to recover during the break and she shakes off hurt to give Seyfried a terrible beating from the bell. Witherspoon on her feet before the bell, stomping out to rock Amanda with a left, then a right and another right in the opening minute. Seyfried hurt, retreating in disarray; hands at her hips, using her upper body movement to slip punches ala Sugar Ray Leonard. Closing minute, Witherspoon corners her and gets into that plush body, tearing open Seyfried's defenses like a pitbull with a stuffed rabbit. Seyfried dropped with thirty seconds to go, struggles to all fours, then collapses on her chest; arms/legs spread-eagled in the dying seconds. KO5 Reese Witherspoon.

After: An interesting pattern to this fight. When Reese hurt Amanda, Seyfried couldn't shake it off and Reese won the following round. But when Reese was hurt, she sucked it up and came right back to take the next round. This may be the fight historians look back on as the one that best exemplified Witherspoon's "grit"!)
