Brooklyn Decker on Theron: "She's not 'last years model' she's the 'last decade’s model.' I don't know why The Academy keeps pushing her out there - maybe because she's too old and wobbly to walk on her own? Theron should go...now...before it's too late. I remember growing up playing with my 'Malibu Charlize' dolls [ed. note: 'Malibu Charlize' was a non-Mattel knockoff of the 'Barbie Doll' - same tall, blonde, leggy figure; but without the bosom]. Imagine how disappointed I was when, years later, I met the 'great woman' herself and found out how 'ordinary' she was. Now maybe it's just because she was so old when I finally got my hands on her, but it was disheartening to find out she was just another mortal when all my other heroines were still Goddesses."

Charlize laughing, quick to point out that "last year" and "last decade" mean pretty much the same thing in 2011 so she's not sure what Decker's point is, "...if she even has a point other than the ones she has sewn into her bikini top. What, you thought those were real?"

Garrett's on a bit of a roll, having won three of her last four (the only blemish a solid UD10 loss to the always dangerous Tricia Helfer) so there's no doubt the 5'10", 29 y/o blonde California native is up to the task of taking down one of the FCBA legends. Still, odds makers aren't giving Garrett much of a chance, although Beau has been quoted as saying she's looking at this as an "opportunity fight" because, "win or lose, I'm going to probably see a few looks I haven't seen before and if I do some good stuff against her, people are going to sit up and take notice. It's not like I can't lose, but I think the fact that nobody gives me a chance means if I do anything positive at all, it's gonna feel like a win."

Charlize ever gracious to newcomers, despite her lackluster record in 'first time' fights. "The girl can fight, don't let all the nay-sayers convince you otherwise," the Golden Goddess says. "I watched the Helfer fight; Beau hung in there and while she didn't hurt Trish often, she wasn't afraid to put her body on Helfer's. There's a lot of women who wouldn't want their body anywhere near Trish's simply for fear of comparison. Garrett's got nothing to worry about in that department. She also went the distance with Swan in her first fight; went ten tough with Rachel Nichols and beat Abbie Cornish over distance. I had Cornish in the ring many times when we were training together and she's a quality talent. I'm not taking Garrett lightly by any means!"

Charlize in her green beach bikini, hair in a French braid, black gloves and bare feet. Garrett wearing her red bra/panties, red gloves and shoes; hair in her 'up-do' (see FCBA photo ref).

During R1: Both women out a bit tentative at first; Beau's seemingly a touch of nerves as would be expected while Theron's taking time to suss out the youngster's style since there's precious little video of Garrett for her to study. Classy, strong, fundamentally sound boxing from both through the first two minutes with Theron establishing the jab; keeping Garrett out at the end of her range. The few times Beau can slip the jab, she pounds rights into Charlize's body - she's obviously read the book on 'beating Charlize Theron in three easy lessons' (left breast, right breast, tummy). Wheels come off Garrett's cart late when Theron rocks the rookie, turning over a right hand that catches Beau flush and sends her stutter-stepping backward to the ropes. Charlize steps with to work the body and take the round. Neither woman looking hurt, but her display of late power gives Charlize the nod in an otherwise more/less even round.

R2: Beau settling down, shaking off the nerves and damage, lowering her shoulder to bull her way inside; starts bangin' that aging Theron body. Solid connects with left hooks to the abs and a flurry to the pectoral region quickly backs Theron off as she trades with the younger woman. Theron's eyes wide as Garrett follows up, chup-chup-chupping away at Charlize's Award-winning puppies. Charlize takes the heat, counters and drives Garrett back with some crisp bodywork. Both slap gloves at the bell when they pass each other on their way back to their corners.

R3: Charlize putting down the rebellion, refuses to let Garrett have her way this round: bangin' Beau back in kind, outhitting and outfighting the younger woman. Garrett pushed back steadily, but under control and unfazed - although being outworked badly. Many of Beau's counter attempts come up a touch short...wide or go sailing harmlessly over Theron's bobbing head while Charlize puts a steady drum-beat of leather on Garrett's prize-worthy torso.

R4: Consummate CT. Charlize in the driver's seat and she's putting the whip to her girl. Garrett unable to settle into a rhythm as Theron continually is able to change up; wrong-footing Garrett; turning her and dropping rights over her left shoulder. Garrett rocked again and again; unable to get off. Referee warily eying Beau down the stretch and with thirty seconds left and Garrett not putting up much resistance, he waves off the rest of the round as Theron's dominance culminates in stoppage down the stretch. Beau looking totally demoralized, completely outclassed as Charlize Theron shows other-worldly class with an impressive display by dominating a talented young girl who just needs some more experience.

After: Good display of sportsmanship from Charlize who quickly sheds her gloves and as her hand is raise, swings around the referee to wrap the teary-eyed Garrett in an embrace, pulling Beau's face down onto her shoulder and whispering in her ear, "No tears. You've nothing to be ashamed of. You've got a helluva lot of talent and I wouldn't want to face you next year this time. Keep your head up and smile for the cameras."
"The girl is legit," Charlize tells the media afterward. "Anyone who beats Newbrough and Cornish and fights Cole, Helfer, Nichols and Swan more or less even up doesn't have any reason to hang her head losing to one of the all-time greats...or do I sound immodest? I don't think she was at her best tonight and who can blame her...she's in against a legend, an icon, a hall of fame fighter; that's gotta be a little intimidating. I wanted to get her out of there early before she settled down and I had to deal with her 'A game'," she grinned. "A year or two from now, that kid will be too dangerous for words."
Garrett thanked Charlize for her support, but then apologized to her fans for, "...letting you down. I was disappointed by my performance tonight; that was not the real Beau Garrett out there. A lot of it was Charlize; she controls the tempo and manages the ring better than almost anyone I've seen and I couldn't get her in to a pier six brawl...which may have been my only chance to upset her. I tried in the early rounds to attack her body, hoping she'd lose focus and trade, but she doesn't make that mistake very often and she just picked me apart out there."
Asked if the referee stopped the fight too early, Garrett shrugged. "Losing fighters always say it was stopped too soon. But the referees are trying to protect fighters and I don't want to second guess someone who is supposed to have MY welfare at heart. Honestly, I don't know what I could have done to turn it around other than land a lucky punch or something. So it was likely the right call."
