(as the guests scrape away the last of their sticky date pudding, Craig Willis comes over the PA once again)
Ladies and Gentlemen would you please vacate the Palladium for a 15min intermission. When you return, tonights bouts will begin
(after a short break, guests begin to refill the palladium and to their amazement, a grandstand now takes position around the ring, where the tables used to be. It is an intimate setting for the 5000 strong crowd and you almost fill like you are sitting right on top of the ring. As the crowd takes their seats, on comes Craig Willis again)
Ladies and Gentlemen, please take your seats. The moment you have been waiting for is here. Welcome back to centre ring, Mr Eddie McGuire
Eddie: Thank you Craig. Ladies and Gentlemen here we are. The staff at Crown have been very busy setting the arena up and all is now in readiness for the first of 5 exhibition fights, in the lead up to the big one, the AWUBA Lightweight Championship.
Downunder Boxing are pitting themselves against one and other tonight.
First up is the Flyweight bout between EMILIE DE RAVIN and EMILY BROWNING.
Then will see the Bantamweights slog it out and this is sure to be a flashy affair between MIRANDA KERR and JESSICA MARAIS.
The Communications managers are also going to go head to head and won’t this be one to watch out for, sister on sister action, KYLIE versus DANNI!!
(the crowd roars in laughter and applause)
Then the Welterweights take to centre ring and this should be a cracker, MICHELLE BRIDGES up against SARAH MURDOCH.
This will be followed by the battle of the trainers, and what a lead up fight the big one, ELLE MACPHERSON taking on NIKKI VISSER.
(another big cheer for another huge fight)
Then the big one. A fight that determines so much for Australian Boxing. The AWUBA Lightweight Title fight between JENNIFER HAWKINS and ABBIE CORNISH.
(huge roars and cheers from the crowd)
Will Jen retain the title and draw clear of Elle MacPherson for the most lightweight titles of all time? Or will Abbie win back the title that she lost 9 weeks ago to Renee Wauhop.
It’s now over to our commentators for this evening, Kylie and Danni Minogue.
Kylie: Thank you very much Eddie. I’m here ringside and what an amazing atmosphere there is down here. The guys at Crown have done an awesome job and I can see some big fights happening both for the AWUBA and for Downunder Boxing at this arena in the not too distant future. For those viewers just joining us live on Foxtel, the launch went off without a hitch, although Danni, Cheryl Cole couldn’t let the night go without causing a stir.
Danni: Yes Kylie, and firstly how great is it to be sitting alongside one another for the very first time commentating the card.
Kylie: An honour and a privilege sis.
Danni: Don’t worry about Cheryl, she is just in panic mode over our upcoming BBU fight. Look there really is an amazing feeling down here, you can really sense the anticipation in the crowd. The US and UK contigents have not seen some of these girls fight before. They are in for a big surprise.
Kylie: And you and I going head to head later on. How are you feeling about that?
Danni: It will just be like old times won’t it. Maybe a little bit more punching and less hair pulling and scratching.
Kylie: Yes well whatever happens the crowd can be assured of a tough fight but what happens in the ring stays in the ring.
Danni: That’s right and that is really important I suppose for the crowd here and the viewers to understand tonight. We might be putting our stable up against each other in the ring but this is a job for these girls so they will slog it out in the ring but you can be rest assured they are best mates again immediately after.
Kylie: Well I am really getting pumped up for this as is the crowd. Lets hand it over to Craig Willis to announce the first fight. Danni, you had better head over for a quick interview with each fighter beforehand.
