The Double Trouble Part II "Fight of the Night" in the KO Club, North London features BBU rookie Melanie Brown and the highly-touted Nicola Roberts who makes her first appearance for the Kear's Kats after joining that stable in the middle of August. On the other hand Brown wants to follow the footsteps of Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell both whom made successful appearances for the Lioness Club back in August. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.

Round 1:
It's a lively start from Brown who pushes Roberts in the corner early and pounds her in a fine fashion. The younger girl is looking overwhelmed by the occassion and allows Brown to enjoy an early advantage. Melanie scores some easy punches as Nicola's guard isn't working well at all. After one of the hooks catches the redhead in the nose, Melanie steps back and watches her opponent from a distance. There seems to be a challenge thrown down by the older woman who doesn't want to humiliate her young rival just yet. Nicola cricles away to center of the ring and gets tangled up in a fine exchange however it's Melanie that delivers the stronger hits. The first round ends with Brown clearly winning it.

Round 2:
Action resumes in similar fashion to the opening round. Nicola tries to score some punches but Melanie is much quicker on her feet and ducks away every time Roberts intends to cause any real damage. She responds with some quick combinations that Nicola is unable to cope with. Inside the final minute Melanie finally shows some aggression and pummels Nicola back in the corner where she breaks through her guard and lands a number of clean punches onto Roberts' jaw and head. Nicola is struggling to hang on but ducks away just in time to avoid the devastating right hook that was coming her way inside the final ten seconds of this round. She clinches with Brown until the bell, but she's been outclassed so far.

Round 3:
The crowd is getting behind Melanie even more as she continues the hassling of her younger opponent. Nicola bravely stands up to her in the middle of the ring, but another hefty exchange goes in favor of the older woman. Roberts ducks away along the ropes, but Melanie jumps on her immediately and lands few solid hooks onto her midsection that finally send the redhead on the canvas. Referee counts Nicola to seven before she gets up and the fight continues. Melanie wants to finish this one off as soon as possible, but Nicola has switched on the survival mode and clinches with her. Melanie tries to shrug her off but Roberts suddenly lands a clean hook on her head and forces her back. There's not enough time left for another attack from Brown but so far she's taken all three rounds and looks safe all around.

Round 4:
Unexpectedly Nicola comes out with a bang and catches Melanie with a big hook in the face. There are some cheers from the Kats' corner after this one and Nicola must sense it's all coming back to her now. She pounces on the follow up but both her hooks miss Melanie head by inches. Instead Brown turns away and launches a crushing left uppercut Roberts never saw coming. She didn't raise her right arm whatsoever for that one and the punch caught her clean in the jaw. Mel wants to follow it up, but it's not neccessary as Nicola's eyes are flashing spades & stars and the redhead goes down face first onto the canvas. It's all over folks, there is no sign of movement from Roberts after the referee counts her out!

Melanie Brown celebrates with the crowd before checking up what's with Nicola Roberts. The proud redhead has suffered a heavy knockout and isn't exactly aware of her whereabouts as she is stretched off into the locker room. Meanwhile Mel has spoken to Kate Garraway ringside.
Kate: That was truly Fight of the Night stuff there. The KO Club has witnessed one big KO from you, Mel.
Melanie: Thanks Kate. Yeah it was a good fight to round off this event. I mean, I haven't tasted this stuff for nine years when I got stomped over by Geri Halliwell. But it's all OK between us now. We're friends again. And I felt like I had to match both Geri and Emma up. I'm not exactly spring chicken anymore but these 20 year olds better watch out. I'm not done yet, in fact I'm just starting my new life here. Shame that Nicola had to be stretched off stone cold but at least the fans got their tickets worth paid in full. The Kats won this event by three fights to two, but my knockout was by far the most impressive, don't you think?
