Before: fairly respectful, professional proceedings, but meter feeling some heat as Jorja gets the star treatment, as one pundit notes, “Fox is seen as the Fighter of the Future, someone who can compete with Bell, Garner, and other athletic lightweights, There’s a sense that Meyer’s moment has passed, and the best she can do is pave the way for girls like Jorja. So for Fox, this is a good developmental fight, but for Dina, it’s a must-win bout in a lot of ways.” Dina the bigger hitter and more dynamic force on offense, but Jorja seen as a more complete fighter—she can box, is defensively sound, can work outside or in—her versatility could be her biggest weapon tonight.

Fox in pink bra and panties; Dina in metallic blue bikini.

During R1: Meyer with her left on her thigh, stumping a straight right hand in between Fox’s breasts backs the brunette to the ropes. Jorja standing upright, hands up high, eyes intent as she looks to chop a counter. Meyer bobbing, crouching low, suddenly lunges in with a slinging right hand between the mitts catching ALL of Jorja’s chin! Jorja switched off, goes limp on the ropes, then wilts to the canvas as Dina jumps away, IT’S OVER! KO1 Dina Meyer.

After: Jorja out COILD, physicians cautiously bringing her around—shattering blast on the chin will haunt Fox in TV highlights and magazine cover for weeks thereafter, Meyer landing the best right hand of the year—she’s flushed and excited in post fight, “I’m just glad I took her out early—Jorja’s got a promising future and I didn’t want to have to work her over round after round and maybe going to go. The way I see it, I’m one punch away from a championship.”
