Before: Carey candid in her admiration of Theron’s accomplishments, but states many time in pre-fight that it’s her time now, and proclaims Charlize to be shot. Theron takes it in stride, acknowledging the praise, while smirking at the suggestion that she is through. Two strong, similarly-styled fighters—Charlize with more experience, more tools is the bettors favourite.

Charlize in teal addidas terrycloth trunks, white jogbra, Mariah in black jogbra and red trunks.

During R1: Charlize starts strong behind a pair of sharp one-twos, straight up the middle to get Carey moving backward. Then, Theron ducks in, gives a little shoulder and pops up behind a wicked left hook AND CAREY IS HURT! Charlize stays composed, going immediately to the dusky body of the diva with straight arm blows. Carey, badly disoriented, does exactly the wrong thing, standing and slugging back, and she begins to get clocked as Theron times the left hook. Mariah’s legs buckle and she folds to the ropes, and Charlize wades in, pounding the high cheek bones of her luscious foe with haymakers from both hands. Carey absorbs a 3:00 AM alley beating to the bell, as she leans back, hands at her chest, letting her face do the fighting.

R2: Charlize made her point, now she looks to break Mariah down, boxing smartly, using the stiff jab to those apple cheeks. Mariah’s eyes already starting to swell as she is shutout this round, and looks awkward/ineffective backing up.

R3: Inspired corner move by Carey’s trainer as he pulls out a compact mirror to show Mariah her own battered face. Carey comes out with new life, intent on wrecking her foe, and outslugs Charlize in a series toe to toe exchanges this round. Theron unhurt, patiently waiting for the storm to pass.

R4: More of the sane as the two way action continues. Theron abandons her boxing to accept the challenge, and the two beauties stand and slug, trading hooks at point blank range, as the fight takes place in a phone booth this rouns.

R5: Mariah continues to goad Theron into slugging matches, and the brunette seems to be getting the better or it every round. By the end of the round, Carey has Theron covering up, and retreating. Carey scoring with wide left hooks to the ear, and a harshg chopping right to the breasts at the bell.

R6: Mariah comes roaring out to trap Charlize in her corner, bring the crowd to its feet as the two begin slugging in earnest from the start. Carey uses her shoulder to set up withering hooks, and Charlize is catching flush against her jaw. Theron can’t get out of the corner, and she can’t disrupt Mariah’s rhythm which seems to catch the blonde as she punches, over and over again. After a minute, Theron starts to buckle, her head beginning to snap dangerously from side to side as Carey sustains the pressure. Suddenly, a batting right to the ribs sets up a snapping left to the chin. Theron’s head rolls left, and she topples out of the corner as Carey steps away. KO Mariah Carey in shocking fashion as Theron spends over a minute on her face in dreamland.

After: Good sportsmanship after ward by Carey, who holds and consoles a teary eyed Theron in her corner. It’s one step forward, two steps back for the former contender as she struggles to find consistency. For Mariah, a huge win, and something to hold her critics at bay as she dug down and found it took to stop a superior fighter tonight.
