Boxing After Dark

Before: What once had title bout written all over it is now a desperate squabble to maintain position - both girls scrambling to keep up with the changes in a suddenly dynamic Welterweight situation. Jones handled Crawford, a big classy brunette in the Landry mold, but Ali's got younger legs, commits more on her punches and brings it inside harder than Cindy. Both girls in sturdy diving two pieces, sport tops extended down the ribcage a bit, sporty scoop bottoms - red for Landry, Navy for Jones, Janet with the low ponytail.

During R1: Ali's pageant-stiff stick an eye opener for Janet as the blonde is drilled onto her heels and forced to regroup under Landry's punishing left. Landry stepping confidently forward, stamping the jab between Janet's breasts and onto either eye - Jones in full retreat, nothing coming back from the blonde in a shutout first for Ali.

R2: Jones gets over it, jabs with Landry this round and at the end of the first minute, blonde puts brunette wobbly butt with a slashing right hand on the mouth to catch Ali loading up her own cross. Landry swaying on the spot - Janet steps right, drops the right hand down on Ali's left ear and sends the brunette stumbling to the ropes in shock. Jones patient and methodical on follow up, jabbing Landry up against the ropes, then dropping down to bash rib with a sick right hand, or dipping and ripping at the gut with doubled up left hooks. Landry with gloves at her temples, buckling forward in pain, getting bodied back heavily into the ropes - blonde getting big and loving it this round - doesn't forget about those spectacular brunette breasts, pancaking away with alternating uppercuts in close. Jones answers the shutout with a shutout of her own, puts big hurt on a grimacing Landry this round.

R3: Landry up tempos, punching with Jones midring as the girls get into a sharpshooting duel of left jabs and right crosses. Janet coming off second best - Landry able to dip inside the blonde's jab and pound her right hand through the middle, then dip outside the blonde's jab and pull the hook into Janet's mouth. By the midway point, Jones starts to stagger, getting rocked repeatedly as Ali gets luscious extension on murderous hooks and crosses. Landry getting brawny late, reaching under Janet's arms and piling the blonde into the ropes - it's bruising pay back as Jones cringes forward, helpless as Ali twists her hips into vicious hooks to the right side ribs and up into the breadbasket. Janet shaky, ashen faced as Landry nods, chests up after the bell to force eye contact.

R4: JANET ups the ante! Jones timing Ali's right hands, fading back, then diving in to beat Landry to the cross and ALI IS HURT! In and out crashing attack has Landry wobbly butt - Jones is nailing that chin with full bodied rights, then landing the calling-card hook on the way out as Landry sputters. Jones spends the middle minute pawing at Ali's face with the jab, then bending into heartless spearing rights to the stomach that have Landry buckling to a seat on the ropes. Final minute as brutal a beat down as Janet Jones has ever dished: Landry suffering, hunched forward behind her gloves - screaming as Janet rips into brunette midsection or jug. Jones uncontested, standing tall - she'll tap Ali's head to the side with the right, then whip-arm that right hand in underneath the elbows, then tap up left, dig left downstairs, using her elbows and body to prop Ali up with in between the bombs. It's all too much for Ali Landry - sobbing brunette spills to all fours at the bell as Jones steps back with an expression of pure contempt.

R5: Ali can't answer the shutout - brunette looks hobbled, dazed as she retreats around the ring under a bruising Jones stick. Blonde icy-eyed as she steps up the attack, pounding away to the eyes of her foe, right hand cocked at her chest for sudden jolting crosses from the shoulder. Landry doing a nice job keeping her back off the ropes - she's not too proud to lunge in to clinch for breaks, slowing the action down - it's flat footed stalking from Janet who wins the round, but probably allowed Ali to get her legs back with the cautious pursuit.

R6: Jones winning this fight with her jab - POUNDING back Ali's skull this round and freezing the brunette in her tracks. Landry on her heels is vulnerable to Jones lean-in right cross - blonde lights her girl up with an early cross that has the crowd screaming in anticipation. Landry hits the ropes in a daze, barely covering up before Jones rocks her back with a disasterous right uppercut between the mitts. Ali stunned, legs shoot forward, head straight up - Jones bites a quick left/right across the brunette's woozy face to drop Ali for a sprawling 8. Landry busted up, swelling badly around the eyes and aching to the body - she sits in the ropes, pathetically covering up as Jones climbs back on top. Hard hearted beat down similar to the 4th - Jones positioning Ali's head the better to get at the beef down below - ribs and belly are tortured by sensational power punching from the lanky limbed blonde and ALI GOES DOWN! Landry spits out her mouth piece in agony, trembling on all fours as Janet is bodied back by the ref - brunette beats the count but she is a WRECK! Jones' chest heaving with the effort of dismantling Ali - she sallies in yet again as the brunette sags sideways to the ropes, helpless to do anything but take. Jones all but arm-shot, flails away, then spends the last few moments of the round bodied up chest to chest and pushing Landry deep into the ropes. HUGE 10-7 round Jones as Janet won't let Ali up at the bell.

R7: CUE COMEBACK! Jones armweary, can't keep Ali back and Landry begins to swivel blonde head with overhand rights and clouting left hooks on the chin. Janet staggering back, sets up to counter on the ropes, but Landry does hellish work downstairs to cripple the blonde in the middle minute. Now Janet's reaching in for desperate clinches, trying to bog the brunette down - ref constantly working to push the girls apart and restart the action. All Landry getting heaved back, then wading in, cramming big right hands up underneath, bodying Janet back, and doubling up her hook to the jaw in tight. Girls keep trading after the bell - Jones getting clobbered in the toe to toe exchanges.

R8: HAMMER AND TONGS! Crowd pleasing back and forth as both women are badly battered, but still retaining relatively good form on their punches. Jones finding something in Landry's tummy - biting lefts and rights from a snappy delivery have Ali folded forward and breathless at times. Landry bashing her jab between Janet's breasts and finding the short right hand on the chin - blonde's knees bend repeatedly as the brunette slowly but surely bangs her girl to the ropes. Final minute Landry gets strong on Janet: beefy chest to chest jostling and heaving of the blonde, pressing her up against the ropes, then bashing away with clubbing lefts and rights. Janet blubbering mindlessly, gloves at her mouth as she stoops forward, getting beaten from one foot to the other in her corner. Final moments, monster left hook drapes Janet sideways against the ropes - she's defenceless, staring - Ali heaps it on, pumping lefts and rights into Janet's back and belly, neck and face and JONES GOES DOWN! Jones battered to the canvas, sits on her left hip up against the turnbuckle and IT'S OVER! KO8 for a breathless Ali Landry.

After: Fight of the year type contest sees both women relentless in pursuit of a stoppage. Back and forth rampaging, first one girl completely dominant, then the other - Landry getting off the canvas 3 times and finding the strength to shatter Jones at the last - just a slobberknocking classic. "I really think Janet should hang 'em up after tonight," says a concerned, weary Landry, "That was the best Janet Jones anyone's ever going to see - she's got nothing left to prove - she left it all in the ring with that effort. She came up short, but I'll give her credit: she's one tough old cougar - toughest blonde I've ever been in with." Janet distraught and beaten almost unrecognizable is unavailable for comment.
