Charlize Theron* vs. Tyra Banks (III) 12-Sep-99

Picturesque bout between two riveting tall girls - Theron the better technician, but Banks with that slinging right hand has exactly the weapon to hurt the blonde. Banks assesses Theron's talent as below Gena Lee Nolin's at this point, and actually asserts that Theron is shot in pre-fight. Charlize refusing to take the bait, promising to let her fists do the talking.

Round 1: OH TYRA! Banks busts up Theron with her first punch - a singing over the top right hand that crashes into Theron's face with meteoric effect. Theron wobbled, covers up and Tyra smiling bitchily, SLASHES AT THERON'S BRA WITH SLINGING LEFTS AND RIGHTS. Charlize standing in, hunched over, buffeted from one foot to the other is helpless for most of the round, but in the final minute she begins snapping off short left hooks from her tight guard, digging to Tyra's ribs in between brunette punches to back Banks off at the bell.

Round 2: Tyra swarming out, looking to end it early but Charlize is fully recovered. Theron beating Tyra's long right hand with a firm jab, steps to the right and snaps off the left hook to light Tyra up from the oblique angle. Banks stunned, wide-eyed, takes Theron's short right on the cheek, just over Banks left shoulder. Tyra's lead leg comes off the canvas in reflex and TYRA TAKES A SEAT on the canvas. She beats the count an Charlize wades in, but Banks turns boxer now, stepping to the left, lifting the jab off the hip and steering the over-anxious blonde. By the final minute, Tyra has Charlize walking into right hands and she steps into another beauty at the bell to straighten Charlize up. Theron's hands drop to her waist as she stumbles forward with a dreamy look as the bell sounds to end the round. No matter: Banks takes the time to CRACK THERON'S BRA WITH AN ELBOW after the bell, and all hell breaks loose in the ring. Officials sort things out.

Round 3: Charlize comes out flat-footed, looking to set down on punches. Tucking her chin in behind her shoulder, Charlize walks Banks down, taking Tyra's blows on her shoulders and gloves and calmly countering to Tyra's bony ribcage. By the midway point, Charlize is cracking Tyra's body with ripping left hooks and a mean straight right to the sternum. Banks rubbery legged, mouth open, clinches as Theron pushes her around the ring. A booming double left hand across the belly has Tyra swooning and the rout is on! Charlize with cold blonde efficiency stalks wounded Tyra around the ring, banging her with two and three hard punches, then walking Tyra down as the brunette retreats. A right left to the body sets up a short left uppercut to Tyra's teeth, rocking Bank's head back. And her hands drop to her thighs. Charlize with a little step inside, turns her shoulder to crack Banks on the chin with a TIGHT right hand and Banks is GONE! Lights go out and Tyra's long lashes flutter as she timbers straight back to the canvas to lay out cold in a long straight line. KO3 Theron in a surprisingly violent slugfest.

Both girls can box - but each really wanted to end the other's night early and Charlize better able to survive the bitter give and take. Not an artistic masterpiece, but a crowd-pleaser all the way as both women leave the ring lumpy.
