Before: Interesting big girl tilt - Prepon with her wholesome 'jugs next door', all-American appeal - Thurman with her exotic, vaguely European je ne sais quois - but both girls big strapping blondes packing dynamite right hands. "We've heard a lot about how Uma possesses skills she hasn't shown yet," notes one BLONDE! big-girl beat reporter, "Prepon's the kind of kid who'll find out you've got in a hurry. I don't know that Uma wants to swap shots straight up with this kid."

Prepon in brown retro bikini, long low blonde ponytail, halter style top twist-tied at jug - Uma in green/yellow vertical stripe bikini, hair in a messy up.

During R1: Girls circling warily, glaring-hot eye contact - hands are waist high as they cross-step counterclockwise. Punching evolves - big swinging right hands behind little flutter set-up jabs, then girls fall together lanky, squirming and wriggling for supremacy as fight staggers into ropes for breaks. Sloppy stuff - not a lot of clean contact. Uma managing the clinches better, turning Prepon, muscling her at the ropes, conveying the impression of being the boss in a murky first.

R2: Similar stop-and-go, slug-and-reel, punch-and-clutch. Preps using her strength better this round - cupping Uma about the ears and reefing her off balance at times, throwing her bodily against the ropes, reaching under Uma's arms to chest her roughly against the strands. Thurman looking bullied and harassed - she's backing off, looking to get the stick on Laura, but Preeps won't have it. Sloppy, grimy action goes Laura's way in the second - her body on Uma's much of the round.

R3: Uma stepping right, picking her hands up more, jabbing with authority - she leans into a slinging right hand, extending fully to bounce mitt off skull and PREPON GOES DOWN! Just-like-that - Laura sprawled as Uma converts length into power - Thurman strutting to neutral corner with a smug smirk of satisfaction. Preeps shakes off the KO, takes a swaying 8, then digs in to receive Uma's charge. Thurman looping walk-in right hands, but Laura blocking up top with a raised left arm, drawing Uma into headlocks - kid bogging things down and spoiling Thurman's finishing run. Fight devolves into that mindless gutter-slugging with great rangy limbs largely useless at suffocating range - entwined bodies tumbling along the ropes. Both girls warned for throwing frustrated elbows in glomming clinches.

R4: Good recovery round Prepon. She's got Uma going backward, bodying up on the older gal and pressing her to ropes, riding rough forearms up under the chin. Laura able to get separation at times and go to Uma's flanks with a great ponderous tic-toc slobberknocking action - big, swinging lefts and rights freeze Thurman as she stoops forward on the take. Breathless clinching from Uma at times - Thurman's brow knitted in concern at the effect of Prepon's thudding body work.

R5,6: Uma shows those skills she's been talking about, but never before revealed. She carries her hands low, loose, but she's starting to lift a stinging jab off her hip and really jam it into Laura's mouth and tits, keeping Prepon at arm's length. Uma stepping right, finding angles for her long right cross - she's slinging it in consistently over Laura's low left, getting appalling clock off Prepon's chin. Laura soaking it up in good shape, but crowd reacting as Long Uma bends into these gorgeous strokes: too many of those just isn't good for a girl.

R7: Uma in control - she's established distance, she's the more educated jabber, she's turning Laura's left flank and she's drifting in that right hand with impunity. Preeps gritting her teeth and trudging through it - Thurman doing a nice job tieing up on the inside to hold Laura for breaks as Prepon can't get work done in close. Midway through, sparking right uppercut lights Prepon up - backside a-jiggle she stumbles away with a bleak expression, trying to regroup: movie star has TV star breaking down through 7.

R8: Uma goes for the knockout: Prepon suffer. Laura standing like a scolded little girl at the ropes, dukes at temples, teeth gritting as Thurman welts and belts great slinging lefts and rights. Prepon slides hurt along the ropes: Thurman steps-with, applying shellack like she's swinging pales of water at Laura. Uma head hunting, Laura grimly covering up and riding it out - Uma missing golden opportunities to the body in her hunger for savage chin music. Rocked and shook as she is, Laura able to poke the odd counter-right off the ropes or reach in for timely clinches at times - she rides out the storm, makes it to the bell with Uma's chest HEAVING in exertion.

R9,10: Uma backs off, nearly exhausted by the 8th - she boxes conservatively, smartly to the bell. Thurman circling, stalking, reaching her jab to smack wetly against Prepon's pale tummy or bat back her face, leaning into the occasional long right hand, especially if she can get Laura backpedalling first with the stick. Laura all busted up, carrying her hands low, turning but not attacking - she's basically serving up her face on a platter to potshotting Uma. Clinches are long, sweaty, and muscular, with lanky girls struggling hot in ropey, inconclusive embraces - Prepon just not getting enough done when she's able to bull Thurman to ropes. Comes back workmanlike UD10, Uma Thurman.

After: Thurman showing poise, judgement, power - Prepon countering with youthful legs and heart that simply refused to give in tonight. "I was outclassed," admits Laura in pre-fight, "but I felt I was competitive with Uma. She's already at her peak and I fought her to a standstill - that bodes well for the future, 'cause I'm still improving. I feel like, when I get my game together, I'll be knocking girls like Uma out." Thurman dismisses Prepon altogether in postfight. "She's a stumblebum - a stepping stone: I'm shooting for bigger game. I'm the kind of fighter who can box strong girls and bang the classy ones - that's pure gold at welterweight. I hurt Laura every time I threw the right hand. You can talk about her 'heart' all you want, but she barely threw a punch after I dropped her in the third - I mean - she didn't want to get knocked out! Can't blame her for that."
