Before: One-sided rivalry to this point - Eliza with a stranglehold on Jen, often stopping the usually durable brunette en route to one heartbreaker after another. Connelly training like a demon, has the skills, the height to make this her fight - but she's had all that before. "For this time to be different," notes special commentator Britney Spears, "Jennifer Connelly has to get Eliza out of her head and treat her like any other fighter. That's easier said than done of course - the worst moments of Connelly's career have come at the fists of Eliza Dushku. You don't just wake up on fight night and say none of that matters. I don't know if Connelly's there yet - I just don't think she's as mentally strong as Eliza and me." During R1: Jen puts up her best round ever against Dushku, throwing hard from the opening bell. First minute - Connelly bat-batting at Eliza's ribcage with doubled-up hooks - Dushku stepping out with a tell-tale grimace: she's hurt down there. Second minute - Jen peppering Eliza with jabs, hounding her to the ropes, then raking that hook across the ribcage - Dushku slumping forward, issuing early clinches for breaks. Final minute, dam bursts. Jen drops Eliza from a standing start: sudden right cross catches Dushku looking and puts her on one knee - Spears shocked, up off her stool and shouting "GET UP!" to the surprise of onlookers. After 8, Dushku woozy at the ropes, punches with Jen to keep her off - Connelly stands in the pocket and puts hard right hands and hooks to devastating effect, swivelling Eliza's head and dropping her to all fours at the bell. Stunning 10-7 round - Jen scowling, all business to her corner - no early celebration tonight.

R2: Eliza showing tremendous resilience, shakes off Connelly's power shots and gets down to business. Eliza hooking off the jab, pivoting sharply to her left - she's mixing it up ribcage and head, turning Jen midring. Connelly keeping her dukes up, staying focused - just not getting off as Dushku has Jen moving her feet.

R3: Jennifer commits to the jab, bangs away on the shoulders, chest and face of her girl bell to bell. Dushku can't penetrate - she's routinely rejected from coming inside, can't land her hook and when she steps out, Connelly's walking her down with hard right hands. Jen working off the stick, leaning forward with slicing rights, then batting the rising hook against Dushku on the way back out.

R4: More competitive two way round, but Dusku still labouring - Jen's jab never better, tracking Dushku's beautiful face and lumping her up, fixing her position for the right hand and hooks. Dushku freezing up whenever Jen's able to rake that right side the hook - Connelly really punishing her foe's torso tonight, investing heavily in the ribcage. Dushku slowing down, standing in the pocket more - looking to counter off the block as Jen outworks her to the bell.

R5: Dushku doubles up the jab, takes it inside and tears Jen Connelly up this round. E fighting off Jen's chest, pounding away on that tidy rack with brusque combinations - Connelly clinching for the first time, choking back whimpers as Dushku has her way. Ref pushing Eliza back, but Dushku jabbing her way back in - she's got Connelly up against the ropes, hands high, sacrificing the body as Dushku digs in. Round ends to the sight of Jennifer stooping forward from the strands - Eliza well balanced, strapping away with biting lefts and rights against waist meat, eyes bright as Connelly appears paralyzed at the bell.

R6: Series of aborted Eliza D rushes marks the first minute - Jennifer calm at midring, spurning her foe with the jab, keeping her outside and turning her in a gentle clockwise rotation. Lots of space between the two - Dushku taking a looksee and JEN JUMPS IN! Connelly with a sudden step, wide left hook, drilling right hand, catches Eliza flush on the button and ELIZA GOES DOWN! It's OVER! Dushku starfished on her back, mouth open in KO'd shock - stunning KO6 Jennifer Connelly!

After: What th'? Jen getting the step, her hips, torso rotation, everything flowing just right as she slaps a hook, drills a right hand and ends Eliza Dushku's night in a heartbeat. Picture perfect timing and placement do the job - Dushku probably soaked up more pure punishment in surviving the first. Jen beaming a bright smile with the 800 pound gorilla off her back, addresses the cameras.

"I worked hard for that KO," explains the champ. "I came out and put my foot on Eliza's throat in the first 3 minutes, really worked her hard, but then I kept on her in a way I haven't in the past. We wanted to hook her ribcage every chance we got and I did that - she was really hurting, even though she kept a brave face, I knew the body shots were crippling her. And so, my corner told me 'she's going to start getting desperate', because she was so far behind and getting beat up, and sure enough, I was able to catch her. I think, you know, she COULD have gotten up, but she knew there was only going to be more Jen Connelly and she just didn't want to take any more. I brought out the punk in Eliza Dushku, and she's got some soul searching to do. Frankly, I don't know that she's got the character to come back from something like this."

Ouch - Jen not holding back, looking to rub in every ounce of vinegar she can tonight. Has a Connelly/Dushku bout ever gone the distance? Durable girls go at each other with vicious intentions every time out. Sidebar: Britney flabbergasted - she's always dreamed of laying Dushku out after giving her a rich beating, saying the things Jen got to say in postfight - now she's had to watch as Jennifer Connelly of all people gets it done!
