Before: Britney out for blood, perceives Jessica as an impostor, an usurper—Spears promising her fans the “old Britney” will feature in this fight. Simpson a solid young thing, with the size to stand up to Brit, and more clever than she looks, turns an unimaginative Spears into a loser last time out and hopes to lull Brit into more face on face slogging. Jessica in white sports bra and aerobics bottoms, white ankle warmers; Britney in pink bikini, pink ankle warmers, ponytail.

During R1: Yep, it’s the old Britney: hands low, lots of movement (too much for boxjng purists) nand Simpson doesn’t quite know how to react. Spears making bombing runs, rushging in and past as she lugs home a beefy right or swatting left and midway through the round, Simpson’s over-reacting. Spears gets Jessica to commit on a feint and nails the cute blonde a cracking right uppercut from the waist as Simpson bends forward. Jessica paralyzed, drops to all fours with a little-girl-lost expression as Britney helps herself to kidneys with a clubbing blow across the back—draws the warning. Shutout Britney.

R2: Simpson with her guard high, looking bewildered as Britney changes up the angles on her, punching from below the waist to over the top without rhyme or reason, Spears chin is wide open, but her legs are bailing her out—she’s stepping in and out and dancing away with some supple upperbody lean backwards to make Simpson miss for the most part.

R3: Taunting shutout for Britney. Spears will stand in front of Jessica, hands at her sides, sticking her chin out, then slipping and countering with hard single shots from either hand as Simpson takes the bait. Jessica so tentative—not wanting to come out of that shell as Britney circles her, reaching in to touch her hips or tummy, then coming off that to blast away at the guard with power right hands.

R4: Spears doing a little hip shake jig in front of Simpson then leaping in, catches Jessica clean with a squeaking right hand  between the gloves—Simpson cratering backwards, stumbling across the ring with a scared expression. Spears on top, heaving both hands from her thighs into Jessica’s flat stomach, then leaning over to the side to twist uppercuts up the middle, Shutout Britney as she batters Jessica around the perimeter of the ring—Simpson just a step behind, can’t find the rubber-bodied Spears even with Britney basically bright in front of her.

R5: Simpson catches Britney with an unexpected rush, driving Spears back with a series of hacking lead rights, but Britney’s backpedalling eventually bails her out. By the middle minute—Spears has things under control—Simpson quivering behind her tight guard, seemingly afraid to punch and Britney starts to ladle it on. Britney twitching a heavy left hand into the side has Jessica on wobbly legs, breaking down, and a sudden, explosive right hand between the gloves settles the dispute. Simpson catching hard to her face spins completely around and sprawls on her stomach. Britney roaring in triumph leaps about the ring as Jessica is counted out. KO5 Britney Spears.

After: Not over for Simpson as Britney collects the shattered blonde for a humiliating walk of shame—Spears appearing bitchy and angry as she pulls a groggy Jessi around the ring—Simpson compliant, lolling in Britney’s right arm as Spears displays her to crowd, Different Britney, different fight—Spears using that nightclub style to good effect shutting her rival down with movement and unorthodox power from angles to post a very one-sided beating.
