Before: Jennifer on the hotseat—flyweights smell vulnerability and a nice big name in Hewitt and that’s a deadly combination. A more successful Hewitt probably doesn’t take this fight—Ledoyen the kind of big hitting, gangly flyweight that can give the patient boxer/counterpuncher problems—but Jen doesn’t have many options. JLH in royal blue thin strap sports bra, boy cut trunks—Ledoyen in black leather bra style bikini.

During R1: Virginie stalking, sweeping the wide left, wrap around right—Hewitt bailing out, running, but getting herded to the ropes. Virginie having many nice moments at Jen’s expense—Hewitt bending at the waist and making Ledoyen miss over the top, but the French girl willing to whiff 2 or 3 land once and she’s shaking Jennifer up. Nothing back offensively from Jen—she’s wide eyed, clearly intimidated by the home run swings Virginie’s taking early.

R2: Shellacking body shot draws a shout of pain from Hewitt as Ledoyen swats her right hand hard across the waist—Jennifer shaky to the ropes, face twisted I agony as Virginie stalks her down, sets up and starts lashing away. Hewitt bent double, covered up tightly as punches blister and bounce off her back and sides. Hewitt takes a trembling knee, AND STAYS DOWN! Crowd booing as a wide awake, alert Jennifer Love Hewitt kneels, supporting her elbows on her raised left thighs and just lets the count pass her by. Ledoyen shaking her head in disgust—TKO2 Virginie Ledoyen.

After: Hewitt swarmed by reporters—it’s one of the worst punk jobs we’ve seen in quite some time. Jennifer unrepentant., “I was hurt. Virginie landed a hell of a right hand to my body and I just had delayed reaction to it. I was awake technically, but I was gutshot—I couldn’t even breathe. I’m sorry if people think I quit, but they weren’t in the ring taking punches—I was.” Ledoyen not buying it,l “Elle est une punk. Je suis desole—I wanted to fight, yes? Mmm, but Jennifer, she is a quitter. Yes I ‘it her harde in the stomach, ce’est vrai, mais, we all must do out best for the fans, non?” Hewitt’s purse suspended, pending a thorough FCBA review.
