Before: High risk fight for both girls - lightweights jockeying for position for the winner of Theron/Bell. Williams coming off the upset over Liz Hurley - she's the front runner, a win against top 10 darkhorse Casta makes her very attractive for a title defence. Casta with just as much to gain - French woman's quietly been collecting wins, working on her game, a win here would be very timely and could get Latetia some much needed ink.

Latetia in floral print bikini on white background, Vanessa in low blonde ponytail, baby blue bra style push up bikini.

During R1: Veteran looking good early. Williams calm, standing in the pocket, blocking up high - she slidesteps back, just touching Laetitia the jab, then rocks forward with a short right, hand barely leaving her shoulder as she catches Casta on the jaw coming in. Vanessa straightening, stepping away all cool as Casta goes immediately to one knee - Laetitia up quickly but caught and dropped by Williams' gem cutter precision. Van consolidating properly, thumping Laetitia's midsection with snapping lefts and rights, backing Casta to the ropes. Laetitia shows her grit - digging in, answering back - both girls hauling in side to side sluggage as the crowd roars at the bell.

R2: Williams falling in love with the counter punch, looking to lure Laetitia into another short right. Casta wisely using her jab, forcing Vanessa to weave and back away - Williams too defensive, Casta reluctant to close in a tepid second.

R3: Casta taking it to the older woman now, jabbing to get in range, then really pitching that right cross, coming back with whippy left hooks to the body. Williams rolling the right but soaking up body shots, gets flat footed, does a lot of pushing off but very little punching as Casta starts to dictate. Williams avoids the shutout with some cute right hand counters late: she's just uncoiling from her closed stance, stamping the right hand against Casta, then covering up tight again.

R4: Vanessa jabbing with Casta now, trying to be first, and it's effective. Laetitia getting caught loading up her right hand - Williams beating the French girl to punches, then stepping to either side to avoid the receipt. Casta missing the head and eating counters when she tries upstairs - she's have more consistent success thumping her left hand off Williams' ribcage.

R5: Casta outworks Vanessa. Williams now going back into that defensive shell, hands at her face, anticipating Laetitia's wide swings, rolling and slipping well, but not making Casta pay. Laetitia putting punches together better now - jabbing to keep Williams covered up, then smack-smacking that waistline with batting right/lefts, finishing up with hopeful right uppercuts that skid off Vanessa's guard. Tactically a stalmate with Williams' defence frustrating Laetitia's aggression, but at least Casta is SHOWING aggression.

R6: Better two way action - Williams waiting for Casta to get off, then answering quick, trying to time chopping blows inside Laetitia's heavier strokes. Both girls effective underneath - Vanessa with pageant style shoeshining to the breadbasket - Laetitia using a long, more curling stroke to slam away at Williams' ribcage. Both girls coming off the body well, turning one another's head with opportunistic shots at close range. Down the stretch, Casta wades through Williams right hand on the jaw, answers immediately with a clouting right and Vanessa's legs give way! Williams righting herself, pushing out a bracing left and Casta ROARS over the top with that looping right, finally getting everything behind a shot to the chin. Sickening head snap Williams - she freezes, out on her feet, then crashes to her side to roll senseless to her back. Glorious KO6 Laetitia Casta!

After: Casta's right hand no joke as she solves Williams with a single stroke. Great win for Laetitia bolsters her claim as a top 10 lightweight while really setting Vanessa back. Williams a classy veteran who won't go away, but she's having trouble putting consecutive wins together and people are starting to question whether she still takes a punch - classic symptoms of a shot fighter.
