Before: Paid attendance sells out like a Stones concert for this one, following the mind-boggling Romanesque spectacle of their first bout. McCarthy continues to claim victory in the previous fight and claims “it’s only going to get worse for Jennifer”. Lopez is unavailable for comment leading up to the event, but it is clear what she needs to do tactically. She made the mistake of boxing McCarthy too much, giving the blonde room to use her unorthodox style. Whenever Jennifer brought it inside, McCarthy was ineffective, and pressure seemed to defuse the energetic blonde.

White jogbra and teal, high cut trunks for McCarthy, red adidas terrycloth trunks and black jogbra for Jen Lopez.

During R1: Jen Lopez sends a statement early. She storms across the ring then crouches low, bobbing her way inside, then banging ala Dee Dufoe with her headed nestled on Jenny’s chest. McCarthy helpless, sits on the ropes, trying to pull Lopez’ head down and cover up. Midway through the round, pulverizing left hooks to the liver bring McCarthy to her knees, and Lopez stands back with a satisfied look on her intense face as Jenny struggles back to her feet. Lopez bores in, practically shoving Jenny through the ropes, pounding out a shutout this round.

R2,3: More of the same from Lopez: pressure, pressure, pressure. McCarthy can’t get off the ropes, and her torso is absorbing tremendous punishment as Lopez shoves and slugs from a wide stance. Along with the Latin left looks, Lopez unveils a digging right uppercut to the sternum putting the punch in with tremendous lift from her legs and backside. McCarthy a little queasy at the bell—she has yet to really put together any kind of offense.

R4: Jenny McCarthy stands her ground this round, and the crowd roars as bitter exchanges light up the ring. McCarthy is hitting Lopez with the sides of both hands, chopping at her jaw with short strokes, but moving the brunette nonetheless. Holding and hitting from jenny as she cups Lopez’ ear with a left, then rams a straight right home to the face. Lopez is not discouraged however, and trades back, but the distance favours Jenny who makes the most of the space to win her first round.

R5: Lopez slams the door, climbing back into jenny’s trunks and wearing her out along the ropes again this round. Another shutout, the body punching putting a sick look of discomfort on McCarthy’s face.

R6: Jenny tries the slugging again, but Lopez does a good job of bobbing under the slashing blows, countering hard to the blonde’s tender middle. On the ropes yet again, Jenny absorbs another pulverizing session, but Lopez stuns her late with a twisting right uppercut to the chin. McCarthy’s legs tremble as she holds on to Lopez for dear life, Lopez trash talks as the girls’ heads press close together—Jenny simply pouts, almost out on her feet.

R7, 8: It is now apparent that Jennifer Lopez has no intention of knocking Jenny McCarthy out.. Instead it’s round after round of grinding torment as the Latina smears the blonde all around the perimeter of the ring with her relentless body assault. Jenny s absolutely exhausted, leaning against Lopez, sagging on the ropes, hands low, body jerking from Jennifer’s punching impacts.

R9: McCarthy steals a late round as Lopez takes a breather. Both women appear weary, and forma are a little sloppy this round. McCarthy approaches with her hands very low, and manages to poke a hard lead right into Lopez; face, setting up a nice digging left hook to the ribs to make the brunette cringe. It’s a round that shows McCarthy could maybe be a fighter if she wanted to be, as she actually steers Lopez with a tired looking jab from the hip, and swats her fairly effectively with right hands from middle distance.

R10: Jen Lopez closes out the show, forcing Jen to the ropes, and pounding blonde meat for 3 straight minutes to leave no doubt in any one’s mind who won this fight. Unanimous decision for Lopez who continues slugging after the bell, and mccarthy if all people complains to the ref!

After: Lopez confirms suspicions of those at ringside: “I didn’t want to knock her out—I wanted her to suffer. She had to pay for what she did to me I that first fight.” Certainly payback occurred in this bout: McCarthy went to the canvas in the first, and looked ready to go in the fifth, sixth, and seventh, but her ability to go the distance had as much to do with her own stubbornness as Jennifer’s intentions to punish her.
