Before: Crossroads bout between two experienced gals who have faced each other many times throughout the years. Shue the harder hitter, thought to be too strong for Courtney. Elisabeth very confident for this fight, comes in looking a little chunky. Black two piece gymnastics gear for Shue, blue aerobics two piece for Courtney.

During R1-6. Courtney Thorne-Smith off 6 straight rounds against Elisabeth, boxing as well as she ever has in her entire career. Shue is the aggressor, coming forward in a crouch, but she’s not moving her head or feet all that much. Smith on her toes, dazzles with 3 punch combinations, swatting at the head of Shue, then circling away, and Elisabeth can’t get any rhythm going. Beth seems committed to flat footed power punching, trying to take Courtney out with one shot. Courtney holds until the break, After six, Shue’s face is red and sore, but Smith is finally looking fatigued.

R7. Shue has more success this round, getting underneath Courtney’s jab and straightening up out of her crouch to crunch the guts of opponent with loud leather for the first time in the fight. Smith standing and trading this round, still can’t hurt Shue, and finishes the round with her back on the ropes, fielding blows to her stomach.

R8. Courtney pops a lead right, and circles counterclockwise, wrong footing Elisbaeth and scoring with strong left hooks against Shue/

R9,10. Elisabeth Shue runs into damage in these finals rounds. She lunges and pays the price as Courtney coasts in complete control, countering with chopping rights to the face, Smith gets her second wind, circling and pasting Elisabeth with clean combinations. Shue finishes up in disgust, swollen eyed, swollen lipped, for her trouble, As clean and smart a unanimous decision as you will ever see, for Courtney Thorne-Smith.

After: Shue has only herself to blame for this lackluster effort. No game plan, overconfident and under trained, she got taken to school by the slickest CTS anyone’s seen in years. Credit to Courtney, she executed beautifully, and although never hurting Shue, totally controlled the fight on all cards.
