Before: Two hard working, long suffering, wonderful physical specimens face off - similar stories for both women. Cliche finally in position to make another run at main-event status: beating a fighter as physical as Righetti could position Karen well for the '09 campaign. Righetti once thought of as a prospect every bit as promising as Erica Durance: Amanda with a chance to regain a little traction heading into '09. Amanda with dark red hair as per The Mentalist; crimson cotton tank top and panties; black gloves. Karen in bright blue cotton tank top and panties; white gloves.

During R1: Karen catching Amanda with a series of stiff jabs and booming right hands through first minute: Righetti visibly rocked, legs stiff-stepping, mouth open. Middle minute sees Karen ease off the gas, work behind her jab, get her energy back. Final minute - Karen resumes the right hand offensive - cleaving through Righetti's disorganized guard to score blow after shattering blow to chin. Final moments see a stunned, demoralized Righetti stumble-flop to all fours. Karen chest heaving, eyes flashing, looks down, nods in approval at the bell.

R2,3,4: Long road back for Amanda: she's taking it one minute at a time. Righetti still badly shaken, but sorting herself out. Job one: keep her hands up. Job two: pump stiff stick into Karen's face and chest. Job 3: answer any Karen right hand with an Amanda right hand. Slow, clockwise rotation as tall girls step around, pump jabs - both really planting on that lead (left) leg and getting good thump on poke. Slowly but surely, Righetti steadily outfights Cliche in these close, but clear rounds. After 4, both women's faces are starting to shine up nicely: Righetti's got her legs back, and Karen's looking at having to regroup.

R5: Karen answers, and answers, with vigour. Cliche pounding away with that heavy jab up top - then driving in and down with straight right hands to Righetti's midsection. Amanda giving ground, grimacing at Karen's heavy touch downstairs: Karen able to step forward, improve her leverage and get bossier with that right hand. Midway through, Righetti absorbs another tremendous right cross to chin: redhead tosses hard to starboard, Amanda's knees buckle - but somehow she's able to stagger upright into ropes. Strong finish for Karen: she squares up on Amanda - knuckling her shoulders to stabilize her, then working her over with short, clubbing blows head and shoulders. Righetti beaten from one foot to the other by the bell, really showing tremendous heart in sopping up Karen's best.

R6: Dig-down round for Righetti. Early on, she hooks Cliche viciously to waist - really arching her back and getting up into Karen. Cliche visibly hurt, folds forward behind her gloves: Amanda walks her into right uppercuts and muscular hooks as Righetti retreats in good order. Righetti turning at the ropes, keeping her back clear: she's punishing Karen's ribs and breasts with short, clubbing, rights and lefts as Cliche stumbles forward. Down the stretch, Amanda's in charge when a trade in right hands/left hooks goes against her: Righetti rocked again, knees knocking as Cliche gets big. Karen bodies Amanda to ropes, palms her upright by the shoulders, clobbers away. Karen teeth bared, eyes blazing as she turns into brawny, horizontal rights and lefts, bashing at Amanda's wilting defences at bell.

R7: Amanda hurts Karen, walking Cliche into a crunching left hook that has the crowd groaning. Follow-up lefts and rights bludgeon Karen about head and shoulders as she's stumbling to her right: Cliche hits ropes in a fog, stoops forward behind her mitts. Amanda flat footed, trudges into Karen, digs up into brunette ribs via a series of pumping right uppercuts. Karen crying out, but lashing back, fetching Amanda clouting hook to chops to buckle Righetti's legs. Amanda bodies up to stabilize herself and her opponent, then digs at Karen's belly: redhead's shoulders rotating, plugging in short-cropped punches. Karen groans, sits into ropes to return fire: brutal, big-girl mouth on shoulder developing as fighters dig in. Girls groggy, mindless down the stretch - just leaning on each other, pushing off and stroking one another in boozy turns. Amanda's round close, though Karen finishes stronger.

R8: Karen all banged up, but resolute - eyes narrowed as she jabs her way into Amanda's face. Righetti taking stiff poke, turning her left shoulder into it and ducking down - Karen's got Righetti defensive. Cliche deliberate to her left, working around the jab, leaning into the odd rangy right hand: Amanda bobbing down, staying covered up, not answering back. Good spot for Karen - she's got Amanda on the end of her punches; she's picking the redhead apart with strong, methodical crosses. Righetti blocking much, if not all of the harm: she's looking frazzled, disheveled at the bell.

R9: Righetti goes back to Karen's body - redhead just switching her torso side to side, belting brunette muscular tight-arc lefts and rights in horizontal plane. Cliche pounded on her ribs and breasts, advancing as Righetti eases back: redhead doing a wonderful job walking brunette into hurt. Karen breathing hard, grimacing, but answering in spots - still able to lean in and place right hands on Righetti's jaw as redhead's trying to lean away. Good clouting back and forth has both girls reeling, but serviceable through 9.

R10: Karen gets on top with the jab: she's done tremendous damage to Righetti's face tonight. Right hands follow: Amanda ducking down under them, finally slipping Karen's heater. Cliche stepping off the ring, walking Amanda down: brunette seems stronger, seems hungrier - she's trying to close the show. Final minute - Righetti stunned by a series of stiff jabs and a stout right to chin: she backs away hands at her side, taking deep, exhausted breaths. Karen steps-to, hands at her cheeks - she jabs Righetti into ropes: Amanda covering up, turning to her right and crouching. Karen squares away, working off Amanda's left shoulder - driving down with right hands on the doubled-over redhead. Suddenly, Amanda twists up out of her crouch, shocking Karen to chin via right uppercut: huge clocking clout punches Cliche's mouthguard up into air. Karen swaying on the spot, hands dropping: Amanda shifts weight, steps into Karen with a short left hook with plenty of shoulder and back behind it, jolting Cliche's head around on limp neck. Karen's out, but Amanda leans into her, helping brunette to her back with a shove in the chest. Lights out, KO10 in the final few seconds, Amanda freaking Righetti!

After: Huge win for Righetti reminds everyone of her dark-horse pedigree: she soaked up some tremendous bombs and came back to ruin Karen Cliche tonight. Poor Karen! Every time she gets a 50-50 shot on TV with scouts in the audience and a chance to build momentum, someone lays her on her back. Amanda renews credentials as a big, Durance-class lightweight who can dig out tough wins when necessary.
