R5: Action slows - both girls lumping up, loose strands escaping ponytail bunches. Decesare turning, hands low, crouching forward. Hough more upright, feinting, stepping in to stitch the jab, then scooting out - legs still springy. Julianne in and out from range, jabbing Carmella without mercy, occasionally turning on sharp right crosses to teeth. Carmella facing into punches, encroaching on Julianne: when in range, Decesare's lathering her arms at blonde ribs and tummy, trying to wick away the life from those legs. Tactical round to Hough as she keeps initiative.

R6: Similar look - Decesare hands low, torso sinuously forward as she walks her nimble foe down. Hough using the ring - stitching in the jab, then backing up quick to avoid receipts. Julianne also sporting a cute lead right while backing up - locating Carmella's forehead. Where the right hand leads, the hook can follow: Julie's clouting Carmella's mouth some tasty lefts as blonde transitions weight to back (right) foot. Disheartening stuff for Carmella - she's coming forward, looking to impose will, but getting picked apart through 6.

R7: Hough in and out: Decesare starts using her own legs to bait Julianne forward. Carmella slide-stepping back while up-jabbing: Julianne falling for the ol' fade-and-counter routine as Carmella shows heady post-mansion skills. Whipping right roundhouse to the body still there for Carmella - it's spanking off Julianne's ribs, winning grimaces from pretty blonde. Hough coming down off her toes, engaging more shoulder-to-shoulder: Playmate getting her elbows up, pushing Julianne off after scoring to her midsection. Down the stretch, Carmella roughousing, pushes Juli off with the left elbow, then loops a lanky right over top - SWEEPING JULI TO CANVAS! Happy/sweaty Carmella lifts both mitts, struts away grinning as Juli sits up, groggily punching her right hand into canvas with disappointment.

R8: Decesare forward Gatti-style - hands low, torso forward, looking to weave in close and slop hurt to Julianne. Hough having none of it - disengaging at will, stepping about the ring with a pretty scowl. Oh that stitching jab - poor Carmella's eyes puffy and sore as blonde bangs away. Hough so cute in retreat - able to ring Carmella up those sneaky lead right hands before moving back; walking Carm into whippy check hooks. Juli scoring, pivoting around her girl - she's got Carmella breaking down and wobbly-butt from the half way point on. Decesare brave - she's hurt here, head snapping with sickening regularity as Julianne darts in to score - but brunette's willow legs hold her up in a trying 8th.

R9: Hough tests Carmella's heart with a terrible beatdown. Julianne going all in early, driving Decesare to ropes with a series of blinding one-twos: blonde's teeth bared as she punches her rival's face. Carm in trouble, butt in ropes, back of her right hand against left cheek; left hand across her gut - she's stooping forward in stupor, dug in at apron. Julianne goes to work methodical, right under her chin, left loose across her tummy - she's gently bumping with her left shoulder in Carmella's chest, or nudging the extended left elbow - just propping Carmella up for relentless, snappy combinations. We're seeing Julianne set down flat footed and getting big as she can here. Hooks take Carmella in her flat tummy, or tuck in behind her elbow, just above the hip. Tight little right uppercuts curl through, smiting Carmella's tired face - often followed by snappy little hooks in concert. When Carmella droops too far forward - Julianne cracks a buggy-whip right in above brunette's left hip, sending cringe down Decesare's legs. Half way through, battered Carmella sinks blubbering to one knee, catching a breather: ref has to push seething Julianne back to enforce the count. Hough finishes up steadily on Carmella, beating her with the same crisp, deliberate work all about the torso and head. Bell: Decesare crying, swaying on the spot, but defiant; Julianne exhausted, staring in awe at the brunette who won't submit.

R10: Hough's got nothing left - mouthbreathing as Carmella walks her to ropes. Decesare terribly beaten herself, but she starts sloppin' it to Julianne - Brunette intent on pay back. Agonizing to watch - both girls badly reduced at this point, just leaning in mouth on shoulder with each other, pushing, bumping and snapping off shots. Carmella thick about Julianne's middle - lifting the mitts in lanky, then shouldering Juli off in the chest. Hough getting outworked, but she's snatching back dip-n'-rip hooks to Carm's waist: blonde on wide-spread legs, right hand stacked atop her left at her tummy as she dips forward. Good smothering round for Carmella keeps Hough in check: Julianne's sinewy legs hold her up as brunette commits her final reserves. Goes to cards, comes back narrow UD10...JULIANNE HOUGH!

After: Heartbreak for battered Carmella - she couldn't have fought any harder tonight. Julianne blubbering, hands at her face, shoulders shaking: taken to her limit tonight, she responds with will and skill in turning back a very determined Decesare. Spectacular back and forth contest - both girls down multiple times, rallying back from the brink - they definitely brought out the very best from each other. Bitterly disappointed Carmella surprises her critics by brushing her left hand down Julianne's right arm as the blonde weeps in exhausted triumph. Juli looks up as Carmella's turning away - blonde understanding the non-verbal acknowledgment as brunette exits with class.

BEFORE: "When Julianne fought Kiana, I was there, and I couldn't take my eyes off Hough," Carmella admits in prefight. "For a rookie, she was so precise and hard with Kiana - breaking her down, just relentlessly being better than her. I got about half way through before turning to Heather and saying 'I want that blonde girl' - I didn't even know her name. When the fanmail on my website started mentioning Julianne, I knew it was the right call - obviously, my fans want to see me dismantle Julianne, and I'm sure her fans are egging her on about me. It's gonna be a great fight - a classic fight: uptight blonde versus cool brunette, both of us young, in our primes. Could she have done Playboy? Of course not, but she's still cute for what she is. I know HMK rules prohibit post-KO walks, but I'm wondering if they'll make an exception in this case. Can you imagine me walking Julianne? Oh my God, that'd be hot!" Hough non-plussed: young blonde extremely poised despite lack of pre-fight jousting experience - she won't let Carmella get to her. "I'll give Decesare all sorts of problems in this fight," Hough predicts. "She's like a young Kiana - all supple and gangly. I know Carm can hit when she gets the parts all working together, but I'm quicker, and I'm very disruptive. She's going to have a hard time getting off against me. It's probably best not to comment on our footwork - that would just be cruel. I'm just going to say I think I move better and leave it at that." Carmella in pink bikini, white-belted bottoms, white gloves; white shoes/socks. Julianne in white bikini top (halter style); navy white-belted bottoms; white shoes/socks; white gloves; long low ponytail.

During R1: Decesare - loping forward, left hand low, right at her chest, eyes fierce: she's thinking about blonde chin. Hough steppin' lively, feinting - right under her chin, left at her chest. Julianne with a nasty little jab routine - stitching it in brisk, then hopping away - quick nipping punch taking Carmella across her brows. Decesare lifting the up-jab off her hip snappy - both women pushing off the back (right) big toe for leverage. Hough moving off her jab well - either away out of range, or in to pivot around Carmella and turn her - blonde footwork clearly an advantage early. All even round till late: CRISP Hough pull-counter right chops down over a lazy Decesare left jab: Carmy jaw-shocked - head jerked to her right as her right knee jerks up. Decesare wobbly butt, rung up at the bell as Hough twirls, DELIVERS THE PONYLASH! Carmella sputtering as brazen blonde sashays back to her corner all grins. During the break - Carmella angrily tells her trainer: "Ponytail me!"

R2: Carmella still lope-stepping, but upping tempo a bit: she's starting to rush Julianne. Carm moving the long up jab head to hip on Hough - touching blonde midsection, parting the breasts, brushing the lips. Hough quick to step away, but unnerved: Carmella able to penetrate, lean in long, and score. Down the stretch - Hough gliding to her right - Carmella steps-with, flicks a decoy jab at blonde tummy, then leans in sinewy with the overhand right and DOWN GOES JULIANNE! Blonde's head kicks back as she's sidestepping - she's dropped to her backside all blinking and pretty for a few heartbeats. Juli beats the count, looking concerned: HERE COMES CARMELLA! Decesare loping in, slings a lanky right flat to Julianne's midsection; pops hips-right to lick a snatching left off the abs as well. Lovely rangy action - Carmy lashing Juli to the body, then pushing the blonde ruff against ropes: Hough keeping her hands up, teeth bared in grimace. Bell: Carmella turns in exaggerated fashion, swiping her long brown ponytail across Julianne's startled face. Brunette leaves blonde fuming at the ropes as Carmella pulls ahead.

R3: Decesare loping forward in wide stance - weaving her torso in sensuous fashion, moving her head. She's lugging a rangy right into Julianne's body, then trying to put the hook on top. Hough still on her toes, stitching in and out with her jab, circling: eyes dancing as mouth forms a pretty little pout of aggression. Hough able to put sizzling one-twos together - scoring repeatedly to Carmella's face and DECESARE GOES DOWN! Rapid fire combinations land in quick succession - Carmy stumbling around, then nearly doing the splits as she goes awkwardly to all fours. She beats the count, cut inside her lower lip and starting to bust up around the eyes; HERE COMES JULIANNE! Hough scooting-to, teeth bared: one-two up top catches Decesare's raised guard; digging hook takes Carmella in her ribs; digging hook gouges at flat brunette tummy; carving uppercut curls through the middle, brushing Carmella back against ropes. Julianne fierce - going at Decesare without pity - glorious, rapid-fire lefts and rights tattooing flat tummy and pretty face at will and DOWN GOES CARMELLA! Playmate taking punches, turng to her right, spills along ropes and dumps to all fours, panting. Julianne struts away hands on hips, dragging in hot breaths, chest heaving with effort.

R4: Hough stitching her jab in, bouncing away after scoring: poor Carmella's eyes starting to swell. Minute mark, Carmy timing blonde in-outs: Decesare eats another jab, stands her ground, catches Juli backing away with a long, whippy hook to chops! HOUGH'S HURT! Julianne staggering to her right in fence post holes, momentarily stunned: Decesare chasing with looping overhand rights, taking Juli atop her head, then on her back as she turns and GOES DOWN! Hough crying out 'NO!' on all fours, trembling - Carmella jogs happily to neutral corner, clearly relishing the sight of shabby Julianne trying to beat the count. ON COMES DECESARE! Carmella wading in, twists torso-left to bury a limber right in Julianne's midsection, buckling blonde forward with a moan. Cruel left clouts across Julianne's lower back, drawing warnings: Carmella just lowers her shoulder, using it to prop Juli up into ropes. Savage, lashing beatdown - Carmella with chin out over Julianne's left shoulder - limber limbs lapping at tired blonde stomach muscles. Julianne groaning, issues fight's first clinches as brunette has blonde knees quaking through 4.
