Before: David Kelley does it again—on set battle before an invite-only crowd pits, Ally McBeal star blonde Smith against brunette Marshall—co-star of Kelley’s new SNOOPS show. Marshall, a legendary back lot girl who’s fought wars with girls no one’s ever heard of, could finally get a serious look with the sort of exposure a Kelley promotion can give.

Marshall in red adidas terrycloth trunks, black sportsbra, CTS in white sportsbra, teal adidas trunks.

R1-2: Courtney surprising ringsiders with a concentrated body attack, cutting off the ring, and looking to fight off Marshall’s chest. Paula with a very smooth, athletic style reminiscent of Michael Nunn or, likes to hold her gloves low until Courtney punches. Marshall standing right, making Courtney miss or hit mostly gloves and arms as Paula turns her torso with the incoming punches. Nevertheless, Courtney takes the first two rounds, as Paula not coming back with enough to get the nod.

R3: Marshall showing a slick left jab, twists the knuckles into Courtney’s cheek while stepping left around the blonde, the right hand slings in from underneath, or snaps in right from the shoulder, and Smith is hurt at the midway point as Marshall walks her into the uppercut. Paula putting her punches together, walks to Courtney with hands  low, then suddenly steps into the right hand to the face, swatting with the left hook as Courtney backpedals. Sparkling display leaves Smith discouraged at the bell.

R4: Marshall shuts Smith out, painting the blonde with jabs, spinning off Smith inside to set up from a new angle, and constantly staying one step ahead of Courtney. Smith making the fight difficult for herself by continuing to look inside, plays into Marshall’s strengths, allowing Paula to set the pace with the jab..

R5: Paula with that snake left hand still calling the shots, Slashing at Court’s face, or whipping the left across Court’s body, Marshall in control, and easily able to step out of range whenever Smith tries to counter. In the final minute, Courtney able to go forehead to forehead and let her hands go, but Paula still very adept at taking punches on her seemingly relaxed guard.

R6: Paula fighting off her front foot, lifts swatting left hooks and clipping right uppercuts into Courtney’s face as gthe blonde tries to bob her way in. Marshall having a field day fighting backwards and walking Court into punches, stuns the blonmde midway through the round with a slinging right hand on the ear. Smith stumbles to the ropes, and Marshall polishes her up—alternating with sweeping wide swings and short clipping blows to leave Court sagging on the ropes at the bell.

R7,8.9: Courtney makes up her mind that she is not going to embarrassed by another new face and makes a fight of it in these rounds. Paying the price to get inside, Smith sets up on Marshall’s chest and outworks the brunette in the trenches. Paula laying in, hands across her stomach while keeping her in close to Courtney’s cheek, just isn’t busy enough as Smith pounds away downstairs.

R10: Waltz continues as the girls fight in one another’s sweat, stepping cheek to cheek and jerking short blows into one another’s bodies or chins from point blank range. Midway through the round, crafty Paula twists her torso back and clips Smith’s overhanging face with the right uppercut and Courtney goes wobbly butt. Still hunching forward, trying to body up, Court takes a second and third uppercut, popping her mouthpiece off her teeth and leaving her stunned. Paula stepping to the side, whips the right hand in over the top to keep the hurt on Smith’s face, and the final minute is all Courtney trying to clinch. Marshall smashing away until the final bell. Paula with a big finish, but the decision disappoints her: it goes as a draw.

After: Courtney comes over to congratulate the brunette for a fine effort, but Marshall refuses to acknowledge her. Paula has very high expectations for herself and fighting CTS to a draw doesn’t meet them. When she was good, she was very gfood in this fight, but Marshall knows she got too cute with Courtney over the last half and let herself get outworked for points.
