Before: Daniel back in with another savvy, tough, veteran brunette—Brittany fighting one of the toughest schedules in boxing of late. Gershon out of the ring for some time—Daniel camp counting on that, plus youth and a high tempo game plan to grind the old woman down.

During R1: Daniel attacking aggressively, straight right hands, hooks off the jab, then taking chances to get to Gina’s chest. Brit able to punch her way close, stand up into digging jug muggage from both hands—Gershon on her heels in the face of insistent blonde pressure, Bell to bell, all around the ring—hard hitting stuff from Brit as she works bra, body and head for a shutout.

R2: Gina getting her jab onto Brittany, stepping back, looking for counters. Daniel spitting her own jab, ramming in the straight right, hooking to the body, then chugging furiously to jug as she gets close—it’s disconcerting the brunette. Gina’s defense breaking down under the onslaught—breasts being roundly punched, back pressed to the ropes—Daniel’s just pouring it on, snapping and snatching at the waistline, ransacking the bra and banging away to skull in combination. Down the stretch, Gershon trying to punch with off the ropes—Collision of jarring little hooks in tight goes Brittany’s way anmd GERSHON TAKES A KNEE! Flash knockdown, double G up quick, but flustered—she’s taking a tanning through 2.

R3: Brittany with furious combination punching has G backing up and blocking—blonde right hand pierces the defence and swivels Gershon’s pretty gave, loosens up those tanned thighs as Gina drifts to the ropes. Daniel banging away with raking hooks, then combos to the body, then jagged alternating uppercuts to the chest—Brittany pressing breath out through pursed lips as she chugs away to jug, sitting Gina in stupor on the ropes. Gershon hurt, crossing her arms and trying to slip underneath the beating—Daniel taking her time, palming the opponent back upright, getting a shoulder in there to brace, working away at the body, then opening up with brisk combinations. Systematic beating has Gina stupor—she’s shaky, busted up at the bell as Daniel drinks in the sights.

R4: Gina fading back, twisting and slipping in retreat—she gets Brittany overextending on a reaching right—Gershon coming back with a slinging right on the mouth puts blonde wobbly butt midring. Gershon to Daniel’s body: thumping lefts and rights—G getting in close, snapping her fists off the meat, bringing ‘em back to her chest to reload and fire. Daniel hammered in stages to the ropes, hands up around her temples—she’s stunned. Middle minute—Gershon staying on her girl, lathering, battering her—stepping with and beating down Daniel as she slides hurt along the ropes. Down the stretch, vicious hookwork up underneath has Daniel crippled—she’s stooping forward helpless—Gershon stepping back, lifting right uppercuts to exposed body and overhanging bust—DANIEL GOES DOWN! Brittany in shock, on all fours—she’s saved by the bell as veteran serves notice this fight is still on.

R5: Gershon jabbing, scoring right crosses early—she’s got Daniel in trouble from a few choice, jarring blows on the chin. Brittany takes a terrific shot—legs are jangly, but standing firm—she starts banging back to the body as Gershon takes a breather minute. Down the stretch, girls basically toe to toe, arms slightly crossed—they’re stroking each other hooks to the jaw and ribcage, trying to fit little right hands in between to break up the rhythm. Gershon banging away for points as Daniel commands herself to stand.

R6: Shutout Gina G. Gershon hooking the liver and lower right side, pivoting around the shot—she’s got Brittany cramping up, turning sullen, taking punches, Classy GG—she’s getting off hard, paralyzing Daniel’s youthful legs, turning Brit’s right flank and scoring opportunistic bank shots with either hand off Brittany’s forehead. Daniel pasted for a shutout—looking shopworn back to her corner as corner goes to work.

R7: Gina comes out for more systematic destruction, but Daniel’s not cooperating, Methodical look for both girls, but it’s Daniel winning the hook wars to the ribs and waistline, forcing Gina into numb retreats, backing her to the ropes. Daniel jamming away with straight right hands to get to the chest—she’s making a conscientious effort to bang the bra standing up into the shots and really shaking Gina up against the ropes. Gershon open mouthed in distress at the treatment—she’s getting good counter shots on Brit’s chin as the blonde commits to jug, but Daniel won’t be discouraged. Scrappy blonde round as brunette savvy can’t account for youthful vigor.

R8: Gershon closing up the stance, slidestepping back—she induces Brit forward, rolls with the blonde right cross and comes back with a short right counter on the button as Daniel falls in,. Magic in Brit’s legs—she nearly crumbles, bends, recovers with a boozy guard around her temples and Gina goes back to work. Hollow thumping blows off that taunt Daniel midriff—Brit stooped in body ache, Gershon tightening up and scraping in uppercuts from close range, working in between Brit’s gloves. Once again, Daniel soaks up a beating, Gina tires and Daniel able to avoid the shutout with gritty determination ion close. Round ends with the girls mouth on shoulder, heads tucked, guards compact, just picking each other up in the body or face with clipped little uppercuts and hooks.

R9: They square up on one another, hunched in tight, trying to use heads and shoulders inside to get underneath, Rubbing and scrubbing, short hooks and uppercuts. Flanks are tanned, bellies torn up. Girls take turns picking each other’s faces up with cruel rigid uppercuts in close, fists snapping back to chest on follow through as they fall immediately in together to reset. Drawn round—neither giving an inch in brutal, unforgiving trade.

R10: Daniel emerges stringer from a draining 9^th—Gershon’s eyes swelling, throat  streaming with sweat—she looks to leg the round out but gets cut off, jabbed to the ropes and outworked bell to bell. Daniel closing the show with hustle—squaring away on Gina, moving her hands, just making constant contact as Gershon rolls and blocks, bending sat the waist, Nothing back from Gina—she’s riding it out along the ropes, blunting the attack well, but Brittany’s carrying the fight, Down the stretch, Daniel mounting furious, sustained attempts to pull Gina’s defences down, beat them down—anything to get to that bra and finish up strong on the jugs, Gina suffering at the bell as Daniel grits her teeth and pancakes for points. Comes back one point duke Brittany Daniel!

After: Brittany gets the heartbreaker margin she dropped to Demi in another bruising professionally fought affair. Gershon fading late, but still plenty dangerous—Moore-Gershon a remote possibility with Brittany the measuring stick. Big win for Daniel, her best in along time and doing it with a concerted effort against her opponent’s chest.

Says Janet Jones, “tactically, jug-mugging’s a dumb move and I had been trying to get Brittany away from going there, but emotionally, it’s something she’s got to do to be effective. When she’s tearing her way in there, it just pumps her spirit up so much—everything else gets better when she can hammer home like she did in this fight.”
