TKO6 Ledoyen
It would be a predictable night of one-sided glory for former world and French champion Virginie Ledoyen as she repeatedly ransacked her wide-eyed starlet competition in this bout. Breckenridge simply stood mesmerized for much of the night, offering a defence which consisted largely of an alarmed pout and frequent shouts of pain as Virginie poured on the punishment.
Ledoyen began the contest with professional respect for the young American, fighting out of a widened stance, punching at Laura's face with long right hands and stiff jabs while rotating clockwise midring. The lack of effective response from Breckenridge emboldened Virginie: by the third round, the French woman was simply marching on the American - jabbing Laura to ropes and working out of the wrap to stuff repeat right hands into firm ingenue tummy. From that point on, Laura's fighting spirit was essentially broken: no longer competitive, her sole goal became one of mere survival.
Unthreatened, Ledoyen blossomed into a vibrant figure of dominant womanhood. She fought with a glowing smile as she doubled Laura over with rights to the tummy, then bodied up to reset the demoralized startlet against the ropes. Virginie pawed and touched at Laura, constantly riding the left arm around the girl's shoulders, constantly imposing will, weight, and scent on the beleagured vixen. A weepy Breckenridge - utterly broken down and discouraged - would quit on her stool rather than come out for a 7th round of abuse.
It is often the case, that a Walk of Shame will serve to harden a beaten girl's resolve, to steel her heart for the long journey towards ultimate revenge - but when Ledoyen took Breckenridge for a luxurious prance - Laura's psychological implosion was complete. Breckenridge would announce her effective withdrawal from FCBA competition in the aftermath of Virginie's Walk, saying: "This is not a retirement (sniff), but a regrouping. I don't want to fight again at this level until I know I can handle myself."
